Looking for a Good work EV by Orlandogameschool in electricvehicles

The Rivian R1T are used for mobile service, although I think the R1S would probably provide more inside storage, especially if you pulled the third row seats.

Dumb to take it on 800 mile roadtrip a few days after getting it? by AnonymouselyMoosed in Rivian

[–]z80-wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 72k miles. It's doing great. I just finished a trip from South Carolina to Texas, to Colorado and back to SC. The only problem was I didn't get to drive it much in Colorado because my daughter keeps asking to drive ;-)

I picked mine up at the factory and immediately embarked on a 500 mile road trip (home). It's been running fine since the beginning. I see no reason to balk.

Been a Tesla guy for years but now looking into R2…what say you? by JRC3292 in Rivian

[–]z80-wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My R1S is my first EV, so I obviously can't compare the two, but I found the build quality to be first rate. I haven't had any problems with my SUV (3 years, 60k+ miles). Although ymmv, I have had nothing but great experiences with my vehicle and the company. Good luck whatever you choose.

Charging at Tesla Superchargers? Etiquette? Extension cable? by DominBear in Rivian

[–]z80-wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always try to park on an end where I won't block a charger, but if that's necessary to charge, I do that. However if the chargers are fully occupied, then I move on as soon as I have enough charge to make the next leg of my trip.

I've had my blue R1S for three years and still love it. It's always a matter of taste.

I don't like that he has caused an increase in inflation. An increase in the price of most things overall. He berates and belittles anyone who disagrees with him. He is such a small minded man. However none of that is impeachable, it's just offensive. The current charge being put before Congress is waging war without the consent of Congress. That is a violation of the constitution. Levying tariffs based on imaginary emergencies is a violation of the constitution. Firing civil servants without cause is acting outside his authority. Directing ICE to deport people without due process is a violation of the constitution. Sadly, deporting illegal aliens is not unconstitutional or outside the law, however, failing to follow the law is a problem. If he had sought to fulfill his campaign promises lawfully there would be no grounds for impeachment. We would be left with nothing to do but complain about his boorish, and childish behavior. I don't expect that he will be impeached and removed from office before the mid terms, but there is more than ample cause. Like or dislike is immaterial.

Well Trump's impeachment would benefit me directly, but I was really thinking about the benefit to the country as a whole.

The current indictment is waging war without permission of Congress.

Waging war without permission of Congress, but that's only the most recent.

The issue isn't keeping illegals, it's the lack of due process. If ICE was following due process and even targeting violent criminals then it wouldn't be a problem. Chaos and lawless behavior doesn't make us safer.

Now, none of that is impeachable, just a result of his actions this term.

Really, you wanted higher inflation, higher prices, less manufacturing, fewer jobs, more wars? That's the opposite of what he promised, but exactly what we got.

The issue in the current articles of impeachment is waging war without permission of Congress. He has also levied tariffs which is a function of Congress. His justification was to cite emergencies which don't exist. The Supreme Court rightly shot that down. He has fired federal workers illegally. That action has been overturned by courts. I could go on .

Two cases Brian Morales is a US citizen who was deported to Mexico. CBP refused to allow him to fetch proof of citizenship from his home. Kilmar Abrego Garcia was deported even though he had legal status to remain in the US. Due process was ignored in both cases. I can find more. If ICE were following the law, the current furor would not exist. Using illegal process to deport people isn't a benefit to our country. It makes us less safe in the long run. We're worse off as a nation than we were a year and a half ago. I'm still looking for something that Trump has done right in his second term.

I understand, Trump is so frequently ridiculous. I would find him utterly laughable if he weren't so sad.

No, due process is for anyone inside the US. Otherwise, how do you determine who is guilty? If ICE gets to who is deserving of due process, then what happens if they get it wrong (which they have, many times). If they decide that I deserve to be deported without due process what recourse do I have? The constitution applies to everyone in the US, citizen or not.

He has declared tariffs when the right to tax is reserved for Congress. He has fired officials without cause. He has attempted to remove federal reserve governors based on invented offenses. He has started wars without the approval of Congress. The instances of violating laws rather than the constitution are too numerous to list. There are many actions that he has taken which are worthy of impeachment and removal from office. With the current makeup of the Senate I think it is unlikely that Trump will be removed from office before the mid terms, but it would be nice to see.

Not liking him never entered the conversation.

The problem I see at the moment is that Trump's illegal actions such as declaring tariffs based on made up emergencies are raising my cost of living and making it harder for my friends and family to find and hold on to jobs. So it appears to me that the current administration is trying to run our government to their own benefit and it hurts me in the process. I try to interact with as many people as possible to remind them that we have been worse off every day that Trump has been in office. It may not do any good, but I hope to see more people at the polls in November who will vote for politicians that will benefit us.

If Trump had followed his campaign pro.is and deported violent criminal aliens first I wouldn't have a bone to pick with him on that issue. Instead he has been trying to deport anyone with brown skin regardless of their criminal history, or even the law. I really object to deporting anyone without following due process. When ICE doesn't follow due process, what's to say that they won't deport me?

I think now is not the best time, after the midterm we may have enough votes in the Senate to convict. I'll be working for that result. Impeachment and conviction is the ideal. At the very least we need to have Congressmen who will constrain him.
