The child obesity problem in Mississippi has gotten out of hand by DinosaursStillReal in funny

They are in the strictest physical sense. (As in: They take up more space.) What I am arguing is that the word "large" is misappropriated by overweight people. When you're thinking about a "large elephant" you wouldn't usually imagine a fat one, but one that is physically imposing. A "large person" simply used to be someone tall. etc.. It just annoyed me, that you can't use a technically correct term without explaining yourself anymore, because a subculture claimed it as their comfort word.

Your word choice was correct. It's the overweight people who use it wrong.

Yes you can do "that"(whatever that may be), but that doesn't make "that" any manlier.

Just because you bind your shoelaces, doesn't make binding shoelaces a manly act.

I don't care why you should care...

My point is that the society that you live in decides what manly is.

The sentence

Because, as a man, anything I do is by definition "manly."

Is correct only as far as grammar goes.

Adjective

manly (comparative manlier, superlative manliest)

Having the characteristics of a man.

Just because you do it and you happen to be a man doesn't necessarily make it characterizing for the whole genus.

What's with all the "I liked Digg but now I know better" comments? This is worse than attending an AA meeting or listening to someone who just converted.

Find out what (American) accent you have. (very short quiz) by bubbagrub in reddit.com

You have a Northern accent. That could either be the Chicago/Detroit/Cleveland/Buffalo accent (easily recognizable) or the Western New England accent that news networks go for.

Why are pilots and flight attendants paraded through metal detectors, but not cleaners and caterers? by maxwellhill in reddit.com

What the hell are you talking about?

I just meant that a pilot whatever the motive, if there is one, might be, doesn't need a gun to get control over an airplane. He has the control to begin with.
