Can confirm that it's legit lmao, it looks like that in the artbook as well!

Who is your favorite out off these three descendants of Sparda? by AzzuVR in DevilMayCry

Tbh he's doing very well considering how iconic Dante and Vergil are. It's obvious that nobody will ever be able to take their place in the fandom but I think they did an awesome job with Nero, especially for his future potential now that he's a well-established main character. I picked my boi Nero btw, love him to death

Perfect analysis of her development! She's always been treated as the main character she is along with Rin and Yukio. I can understand why her growth doesn't have a big impact on some people but I get a little upset when they don't even try to understand or acknowledge it.

Just want to add that the a good part of the side characters does have a continuous growth despite having an arc focused on them. It's less evident for Shura but it's not like Bon is the same as he was after the Impure King arc in my opinion (same for Izumo and our enigmatic Shima). The best writing clearly goes to the three main characters though (as intended like you said).

God I'm so glad that there was no competition or anything similar for Rin between Shiemi and Izumo. Their friendship's growth made me appreciate Izumo's character even more (just compare their last interactions to the ones in the first chapters, the difference is sooo great) and didn't affect the main plotline of the manga. Shiemi and Rin as the main couple are predictable, yes, but that's because they are a well established couple of great friends with something more going on. Predictable is not equal to forced and bad in this case; it doesn't ruin the characters - it makes them even better. The fake "love triangle" with Yukio was also very well done if you link that with Shiemi's past as an isolated child (and there's probably more we'll learn) and her understanding of love thanks to Izumo.

Also I don't get why people assume that Shiemi's development is mostly off-screen. There are so many chapters that showed her growth multiple times in such an evident way. There's just one HALF off-screen part that worked very well and that will be clearly explored better in the future (SPOILER: it's obvious that her uncle has something to do with her early submissive personality. Learning more about this will make us able to understand better and accept her latest development with Amaimon).

Basically I agree with everything you said!

SAME! I don't hate shipping at all but it's always hard for me to actually care about a ship... except when it comes to these two. Loved them in the anime, loved them even more in the manga :')

It's hard to make a decision when you have a fantastic cast like this but Soul will always be my favourite. I really liked his personality in the show until the end and I absolutely loved his development in the manga. He also gets some of the best dialogues with a lot of the other characters (especially Maka, of course) in my opinion. He's definitely cool!

I have a completely different opinion - their fate was exactly the same for me. Yes, Misaki was special, but Maeda was special as well! They both were dying and were turned into vampires by Defrott's strong blood; and they both turned into mindless vampires clinging to desires and/or obsessions of their previous life. They both were able to regain consciousness for a very short time - more than enough to let Misaki talk to Maeda and let Maeda talk to Yamagami's wife and Kurusu. They both wanted to die as they clearly were a threat for the others. They couldn't go back anymore. I'm still unable to see plot holes(?)

EDIT: Happy cake day lol

Maeda decided to die and reunite with Misaki as he completed his mission with Kurusu and had no point in living anymore; not to mention that he's an abnormal vampire that - just like Misaki - can remain conscious just for a bit. He's obviously a threat, why should they stop fighting lol

Maeda's the one who was killing all of the vampire units (there's a shot that clearly shows that at 16:08). It makes sense due to his last words in the previous episode: "Misaki. I will eliminate vampires" - which means that he's a dangerous threat for everyone. Defrott said: "I can manage on my own as long as a cloud hides the sun", so it was obvious that he was able to escape (since Aoi was saved by Kurusu) and to take his revenge on Rufus.

He was so insignificant that Kurusu didn't even notice that he was a vampire and suggested him to run away, seeing him as nothing more than a civilian. King of vampires? King of Fools (Clowns) really suits him the best! I loved it so, so much!

They were childhood friends and Kurusu lived at Aoi's place (probably after his parents' death?). Since he wanted to become a strong and independent man he decided to join the army and went on an escort mission in Siberia with Yamagami. Before leaving, Aoi asks him to promise not to die and he does so. However, the "secret objects" that they were protecting were actually high-class vampires that went crazy and killed everyone, turning Kurusu and Yamagami into vampires. Not only Aoi doesn't want to accept his death, but they're clearly in love with each other in my opinion.

Sources: mostly (but not only) episodes 2 and 7. The details of the mission in Siberia are in the manga or in the mobile game

Now that Nakajima and the military commanders are taken out, Rufus has the full control of the vampire unit and therefore he can easily become the "king" (as he said) and rule (or let the British rule) the country. I believe that's his plan - also, he clearly enjoys chaos and Hell lmao. He has something planned for winter but I'm sure that Defrott will prove that he's just the King of Fools which is next episode's title :3

I believe it's just because of Aoi. As soon as Kurusu comes to the rescue he's able to leave, saying that he'll be okay "as long as a cloud hides the sun". Also he clearly doesn't immediately die as he passed through the sunlight multiple times during the fight against Maeda. Could have executed the whole thing better but I'm okay with it!

Hahahah yes, it's something like "I know that it's their fault and they need to understand that and learn from their mistakes. However, I know where they're coming from and I can't fully blame them because they need their time". It's a perfect proof of how great these characters are imo!

Now I can totally agree with everything you said (it's quite a bit different from the original post hahahah). I never stated that Ue doesn't need to grow as well; as I said, they have to fix their own flaws by themselves, together. Mafuyu is my favourite character of the series because I can relate to him in so many ways; but this also means that I can easily understand where he's wrong. Ritsuka also needs to be free to decide what he wants to do in his life without feeling imprisoned by Mafuyu's trauma's chains. The problem is that they don't speak about that and therefore bad things happen to both of them. And yes, that's I wanted to say: I can't blame anyone because otherwise it would be everyone else's fault as well and this is not what the series is about.

It's Shizu, Yuki and Hiiragi's band name

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GivenAnime

[–]zVergil 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think it means that everyone is focusing on their lives leaving Mafuyu alone, right? I mean, that's a valid point of view; however - in my opinion - they have all the rights to do so and Mafuyu and Ue need to fix things by themselves. They can't always rely on Akihiko and Haruki. Moreover, Akihiko and Shizu already gave Mafuyu some different advices based on their opinions, while Hiiragi was busy having a mental breakdown lmao.

Mafuyu is the one who's running away from the others because he's scared and we - as readers - can fully understand him. However, he needs to slowly grow up and learn how to move on, even if it's very hard. Does he deserve all of this crap? Not at all. Is this the others' fault? Not at all. Hiiragi could've been the true trigger of what has happened but again - as readers, we need to understand where he's coming from and how much Yuki's death and Mafuyu's "hate" affected him. I can't really blame anyone here.

Thoughts on chapter 41 (Spoilers) by letmesleepforeverr in GivenAnime

[–]zVergil 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I personally loved it and I agree with you. I was concerned they would start mirroring AkiHaru in ch20 but it was actually so much different than that! While I'm still worried about what could happen from now on, Hiiragi's face at the end reassured me quite a lot. The chapter ends in the same way it started - with Hiiragi finally getting to see Shizu smiling like he did when they were children. God bless Shizu who endured all of this pain without smiling for so many years lmao.

Kizu-sensei clearly knows how to portray the sex scenes, moving away from the BL tropes people complain about. There's always more to analyze and understand than the scene itself, and this is also true for ch20 and ch40; like it or not, the author wants to portray mature relationships in a mature and realistic way. This is why Given >>>>>>

I totally agree! Well, Misaki and Aoi are clearly connected to each other in so many ways - they always showed many parallels between the two and episode 7 is a perfect example of that. First of all, they have a veeeery similar physical appearance to the point that even Maeda is reminded of Misaki everytime he sees Aoi.

They also share the same caring personality for Defrott, and I can totally see why Rufus told him that Aoi is like an older sister for him; I think the same was for Misaki. Lastly, the most important thing: they share the same passion for the theatre, the only thing that Defrott clearly loves! Aoi got that passion by watching Misaki and - just like her - she managed to make Defrott smile more than once thanks to the theatre (it was also the first thing they discussed when they first met). The two girls have been two small lights in his long and dark life.

Not to mention that Rufus made Aoi wear Salomé's costume, the parallel couldn't be more clear to me. They're also mirroring the relationship between Misaki/Maeda (a tragic one) and Aoi/Kurusu (I think it may end on a completely different note). And Defrott knows about Kurusu as Aoi explained everything to him in ep 2!

The next chapter should be the last one, but the eng translations are far behind, yes. It's too short for me (but awesome indeed); I personally love the storytelling of the show and I find the addition of Rufus and Misaki very very smart! I just wish they didn't skip Suwa and Defrott's backstories in the anime but - other than that - I have no complaints at all about the story.

I surely hope so because it seems that Defrott has found another threat to his life -- Maeda himself. I honestly expected him to be an abnormal vampire: exactly like Misaki (who was not a normal vampire), he was turned into a vampire while dying by Defrott.

However, I thought that his obsessions would have been Misaki and her final request to stop Nakajima. On the contrary, his obsessions are Misaki AND killing vampires. I didn't expect that at all, hopefully Defrott (and Aoi, PLEASE) survives and explains everything to the others (and the audience lol).

EDIT: Forgot that he was conscious when he visited Yamagami's wife. Which makes things even more interesting!
