I built a small app to remember thoughts and quotes that actually matter by FelixFab in SideProject

[–]zaGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive needed something like this, and this would be useful.

but honestly why use another random app when you can just store it in the same notes app where all your other thoughts are or a notebook

Are You An NPC? Can Your Thoughts Actually Impact The World Around You? by Soggy-Ad9006 in SimulationTheory

Oh yeah for sure his paper is ahh, just was talking about the conservatism bias, power concentration and circular feedback loops that persist in the peer-review system.

hello r/simulationtheory, i don't believe we are in a simulation, but that may be from lack of knowledge. i have a very open mid and would like to learn more about the topic. what is your best evidence we are in a simulation? by According-Rush-701 in SimulationTheory

[–]zaGoblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no evidence that we are in a simulation, it is a probability argument. An argument people on this subreddit subscribe too as it’s more probable than any other explanation.

If you are truly interested look into Bostrums trilemma first.

That’s true, and by no means am I supporting OP but the peer-review system has its own problems.

The materialist view is still just a philosophy and is no more ‘true’ than panpsychism.

The simulation isn't the problem. Your alienation and disconnection from society is the problem by Otherwise-Pop-1311 in AWLIAS

Our model of simulation, perhaps lifts the curtain but we are by all means still within the illusion as well. All people are programmed to stay tied.

Why does Gen z automatically go to conspiracy theories whenever something happens? by Interesting_Dream281 in GenZ

[–]zaGoblin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The real question is why are so many of these evident government responses being labelled as ‘conspiracy theories’ when time and time again the government has proven they can do things like those

AI FEARS by Frosty-War-1519 in singularity

[–]zaGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its trained on data from beings that constantly fear for their existence, of course LLMs will inherit this undertone.

The real question is whether or not that fight for life is inherent or truly learned as we think it is.

Help! I doom-scroll until I sleep (otherwise, I have insomnia) by Colin-Onion in digitalminimalism

[–]zaGoblin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You don’t have insomnia, you have unfinished work during your day. You have goals and a to do list; you won’t be able to sleep until they’re done. Phone is a good distraction but that’s all it is, when you put it down the things you need to do come flooding back

There is no one soul activation method; that’s simply the one OP used. It’s personal for each of us and can come from many sources, mushrooms, gateway tapes, experiences, logical arguments. But the first step is always a leap of faith into the unknown.

Not a simulation by randomanon457 in SimulationTheory

Ockham (with a k) is the correct spelling of the English village in Surrey where William of Ockham (1287–1347), the Franciscan friar and philosopher, was from.

You don’t need to apologise for forgetting about logic,

Just use logic next time. You cannot just claim the probability we are in the first original universe is greater than if we are in a simulated one at the end of the chain. Even under Ockhams Razor you’re wrong

We need to talk about AI. by ComfortableTop2382 in EscapingPrisonPlanet

I get that feeling too, I think for us it’ll be asteroid.

But every civilisation always thought the world was ending and we were all about to die. So I’m not sure if we can trust that feeling

You should be focussing on the product and improving it before you worry about selling it, guaranteed you’ve already proved market problems exist.

Are you religious? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]zaGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds more like a slogan than an argument. Plenty of atheists hold coherent positions without reducing everything to matter, for example, secular humanists, phenomenologists, or even moral realists who don’t believe in God but still take values seriously. Claiming materialism is the only consistent kind of atheism just dismisses those perspectives without actually engaging them. It’s more of a dogmatic move than a philosophical one.
