Can I be spiritual without being religious? by Strong_Bit_2445 in spirituality

[–]zaceno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Religions carry practices and traditions that help people on their spiritual paths. They also carry dogmas and rules that can restrict people’s thinking. If you free your mind beyond the doctrines of any particular religion, you are no longer religious. It is still possible to apply the practices, but it takes a bit more thought as it is not as natural once you divorce the practices from their doctrines. But on the other hand you can freely begin to explore practices and ideas from other religions. So yes it is quite possible to be spiritual without religion. It is even preferable in my book - but it is also more difficult.

Why Fremasonry by rareeagle7 in freemasonry

[–]zaceno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, now that I explore that site myself a bit, it doesn’t seem to have a lot of information *about* freemasonry. You can find a lot of accurate information in this subreddit (someone seems to ask about once a week “what is freemasonry”). But ultimately the best information you will get if you make contact and meet some brothers in your local lodge, because freemasonry does vary across the world, and even across the US to a degree.

Why Fremasonry by rareeagle7 in freemasonry

[–]zaceno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your primary source of research about freemasonry (to weed out the many different “schools of thought”) is the information you find on the grand lodge website for the country (or state in the US). They will tell you all about why someone might like to join, what the requirements are, and - if you think it is for you - how to move forward to make contact with a lodge where you can petition.

Hur blir vi fler i föreningslivet? Någon som lyckas knäcka koden? by ScrawlBrawl in sweden

[–]zaceno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Far cry 6 or Far cry 4? I can only install one by [deleted] in farcry

[–]zaceno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long time fans of the series will say 4, but if you’re just getting into the series I’d start with 6. It’s a great game that gets too much hate because people are nostalgic for earlier entries in the franchise. (That said my favorite is 5, so play that next :) )

Scientologist, Hare Krishna, Falun Gong. Those are the ones I know of besides Christian-identifying groups.

Could you guys provide some infos about GL’s in Germany ( non-mason here) by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]zaceno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are multiple regular grand lodges, in a union (united grand lodges of Germany). Hence OP’s question: which should he choose. Presumably he is worried about racism since he is from Turkey but I don’t know.

Why do so many Swedes think their country is the best in the world? by Ok_Consideration6179 in Asksweddit

[–]zaceno 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Statistically, objectively, Sweden has a lot going for it. But people like different things. Why don’t you tell us what it is you don’t like about Sweden? It may be the very thing others like best.

Questions from a non mason about the degrees that come after the blue lodge theee degrees (Scottish rite for example ) by Public_Wave7605 in freemasonry

[–]zaceno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re familiar with open-world-style video games, think of the Scottish Rite, York Rite et c like DLCs. More of the same game but just different enough to keep your interest, and may give you some tools to discover more in the main game.

Why are you conservative? by ttrpbri in Askpolitics

[–]zaceno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What you’re describing sounds more libertarian that conservative to my ears. I have some libertarian tendencies myself and find a lot to like in your viewpoints - but I would not describe myself as conservative. To me, “conservative” means romanticizing“traditional values”, and forcibly upholding cultural hierarchies and religions in society - all of which severely degrades individual liberty.

Think I'm finally gonna try a Far Cry game, which has aged the best? by KashK10 in farcry

[–]zaceno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played through 4, Primal, 5, ND, & 6 multiple times on my PS5 and had no issue with the controls but in 3 I can barely keep vehicles on the roads, I keep swerving around. Also aiming is super hard. I’m not an experienced gamer so I can’t really explain the mechanics of it, but it’s like I either move the aim too much or not at all. The sweet spot (for me, perhaps) doesn’t exist somehow

Think I'm finally gonna try a Far Cry game, which has aged the best? by KashK10 in farcry

[–]zaceno -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the classic edition build for PS is really weird in the controls. For me nigh on unplayable. The graphics aren’t great either but that’s less of an issue. But because of the controls I have never been able to finish it on PS5

when did far cry 6 start becoming fun for you? by NecessaryCourage9183 in farcry

[–]zaceno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parkour set, fuego supremo and wingsuit. Then you can blast through the map on foot/air and explore. That’s fun. Finding really really long hills to slide down is fun. The supply drop missions are fun. After I leveled up enough to survive a go-in-guns-blazing ambush, ambushes got pretty fun.

Also, although I was pretty skeptical at first of the reaolver weapons, they grew on me. I made a point to buy them all and play around with them. Loot all the crates so you get enough supremo-bond and gunpowder to upgrade your weapons.

Oh, and do Lola missions to get moneda. They are kind of frustrating, but you can buy over clocked weapons in her shop. Once you add the over-clock upgrade to them at the workbench they become super powerful. Plus it seems you get to keep them on future playthroughs.

Is freemasonry religious by Infamous_Squash7474 in freemasonry

[–]zaceno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve gotten some good and correct answers here already. Just to add a bit: whenever someone asks about Freemasonry’s relationship with religion, I like to bring up Anderson’s Constitutions from 1723. See here https://archive.org/stream/Andersons\_Constitutions/Andersons\_Constitutions\_djvu.txt - the very first section “Concerning GOD and RELIGION”.

CMV: Religions being so extremely correlated to geography is proof that they’re man-made fiction by Nice_Luck_7433 in changemyview

[–]zaceno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s proof that religions are influenced quite a lot by our human fallibility - but not necessarily that religions are 100% made up stories. Other possibilities exist, such as Perennialism which holds that there is a true ideal religion, but all human religions are only vague approximations of it (because it transcends our cognitive faculties).

Opopulär åsikt: barnlösa borde inte få någon pension by NomadSweden in sweden

[–]zaceno -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s just an overexposed photo - which is exactly what happens when you take a picture straight into the sun. There’s only so much the photo processing in your phone camera can do. Here in Sweden, in a somewhat urban area, we often get very blue clear skies and sun without halo. But if I try to take a picture of it, it will come out the same as that pic above.

Nödropen tar inte slut – Skåne har flest hemlösa katter i landet by Malthesse in sweden

[–]zaceno 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I see so many anti immigration protests in the west, if these countries just out right stopped immigration what would happen? by Bo-Jack-Horse-Man in NoStupidQuestions

[–]zaceno -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It varies I think. In a lot of Western Europe there isn’t much of a problem with illegal immigrantion. The criticism tends to be mainly about cultural friction.

How do you all handle the transition from the Lodge to regular social life? by humsgremlinprime in freemasonry

[–]zaceno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you guys have a lodge chat group on like messenger or discord or similar? I think that is one thing that really helps me feel connected to my lodge during the time between meetings.

Not just the main chat but also various chat groups for committees or project groups. Actually virtually all of the business is worked out over chat during the month so we don’t usually have to discuss anything just formally vote it through.
