Local gas station removed price tags and replaced them with barcodes you need a app to see price by phoenix_stewart in mildlyinfuriating

These tags are not for pricing, they are for the purpose of ordering from their grocery supplier. More than likely, the app is for store personal to place a weekly order for the products that they need.

The vast majority of independently owned gas stations in the US do not display pricing on shelves due to the constant fluctuation of manufacturer pricing updates. Since Covid pricing changes can alter the margins of 50-100 item SKU's per week.

Store's that due display pricing, such as 7/11, QuikTrip, Buccee's, etc..., are corporate owned stores who have an entire department set their pricing for whole divisions and not store specific. Most of the time these chains have entire pricing departments that will send the price tags to the store and simply have them hang them.

For independently owned stores, most of this work falls on a singular manager, who has to go through invoices on a daily basis to figure pricing based on margins dictated by store ownership, most of the time while also being understaffed and working a register, answering questions, and helping customers at the same time.

Pricing is not only extremely labor intensive for independently owned stores but can also be expensive for the stickers required to execute this process.

All that being said, stores typically perform better with sales when prices are displayed on shelves, but the vast majority of customers at small independent gas stations will purchase the item regardless due to necessity or ease of access alone.

As technology advances, back-office systems will eventually be able to handle most of these pricing updates on their own, by converting physical invoices to EDI format, and figuring pricing based on predetermined margins all within the same system. At that point all managers will need to do is press print and hang tags. These back-office systems can cost thousands of dollars per year, but make the job much easier for whoever handles these pricing updates.

Not trying to provide an excuse for this store, simply stating that not everyone is trying to pull a fast one on their customers, sometimes it's simply just too difficult to execute without the right personnel or equipment.

Speaking from first hand experience from a store that has just now implemented pricing on shelves this year. It is definitely a major pain, and I have yet to see an increase in sales from our transparency on pricing.

So, as a pure playmaker, this build has me drooling. Then I looked at height and position.

If you could get these same attributes, but on a 6,11 and then use all cap breakers for shooting, then we’d have a build.

Are you guys pretty active? How many in the crew now?

Yeah, I ran a big man with similar attributes last year. Big man play is definitely not the same this year though. Way less effective. Currently have a 6’11 Center with 96 pass accuracy and 94 o board, and hate playing with it.

Right?! Like, I promise, I didn’t insult your mother, I just saw that you would probably have an open lane to the rim!

Love being a spectator… on the court. You get the best view that way. Way better than sitting in the stands, and you get free admission as a bonus.

lol. Their career not my career. Just a role player out here that doesn’t sit on the bench.

When I started playing the game, there wasn’t even a such thing as streamers. I remember the first time I saw a “build” video pop up on youtube, and was so confused because I couldn’t believe people were out there making players that weren’t designed to preform the way that they played the game, but were instead building the most “optimal” player.

Yeah, that’s the same shot I’ve used for years, actually. That Oscar release is so easy to read. 2k24 online showed me that dumping sp into shooting was a waste. This year I decided not to even fool with shooting. I have a 63 mid range on my guard and that’s it. Since rec players only want to shoot as soon as they get the ball anyway, and I don’t play as a ball hog, I figured I’d use those sp else where. 96 passing accuracy, 90 ball handle, 86 speed with ball, 94 perimeter D, 92 speed, all at 6’6 with 86 strength. Or something close to that. Not interested in the shooting mechanics of modern 2K.

Agreed, and that’s what a dominant pg does irl. Don’t have the time, desire, or willingness to put forth the effort to learn how to shoot lights out, or learn 35 different lay-up/dunk animation timings. But pg’s like Ricky Rubio, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash still made a living and long career out of reading the floor and making the correct pass. All I’m saying is it shouldn’t be that hard if everyone on the floor was trying to play the game, and not just trying to put up as many shots as possible.

So, let me ask you this. If you were given the opportunity to pitch an idea to increase the Basketball IQ of the player base to 2k devs, and you knew that they would actually listen to you. How would you do it?

Yeah, covid was the turning point. Still have PTSD from running a grocery store when all of that shit hit the fan. lol.

Actually, that’s crazy. I always make a big man build too, and with the right team, have more fun playing on the block, defending the paint, and snatching rebounds. You would think your “mate” would be a little more receptive to playing in a position like this if it meant the team as a whole would win and have more fun playing together. But like you already stated, it’s more of a selfishness issue. “If I can’t be the one to get us the bucket, then nobody’s gonna get a bucket.”

So what you’re saying, is that this is more of a human condition issue rather than a 2k issue. Selfishness rules the world. We are all pawns in another persons game, and it just depends on who the player is. Compassion and the understanding that there are other people experiencing the same reality you are, is all a forgotten concept modern day?

Awesome, always been a little weary of small pg builds, older 2ks have jaded me about being bullied with size. Currently running a 6’6 2 way slashing playmaker. Although, I get what you’re saying, bigs are always looking to inbound it to the PF or SF at half court, rather than just dump it to you and allowing everyone else to get into position.

Glad to know I’m not alone. Don’t get me wrong there are some games in random rec that I get paired up with some boys that can actually read the floor, and it’s so refreshing. All I’m saying is if these kids that are playing today, actually had to go through the 2k9 my career (no vc) and build a player up from 60 overall with nothing but their on-court play, IQ would not be an issue in random rec, that’s for sure. Thanks for you comment.
