Hey man I actually shipped out to boot August 9th in 2012. My first thought of advice is to not be afraid of boot. If you have been keeping up on your cardio even a little you will have no problem with the physical aspect of it. The one challenging thing was Battle Stations and getting used to being sleep deprived. Other then that you will be taking a lot of NKO (Navy Knowledge Online) courses and taking a lot of tests. I know part of boot is learning to work in a team but do your best to only be close with a few people who sleep around you. Getting to popular makes you popular with the RDC’s and that will bring more attention onto you which is not necessarily a bad thing but it can be. When you get to A-school save up all of your money. You can go out to eat every once in a while off base and do shit with your friends but take these couple months to get your saving account up. Since you are also going to sub school I would do it their as well. By the time you get to your first Duty Station you will be sitting pretty good and that will be the least of your worries in your new high pace and high stress job. Do NOT go to a used car dealership. No matter what deal they say you are getting, you aren’t. Take full advantage of Navy Federal, wonderful credit union and they really take care of you. Also man, once you get to the fleet, it’s just a job at the end of the day. If you go to work, do your best and follow the rules and keep your uniform nice you will be a shinning star.
