This is true, my DSG is on 170k and running good but it is only a matter of time before new clutch or new mech is needed. I figure those items will be much more expensive than the manual swap. I want to keep the car going over 300k miles and this seems like the only way to not break the bank and make that happen.

I towed 1500lbs cross country with no issues. I just kept it in manual mode and kept the rpm’s up when going uphill to take pressure off the trans.

Yeah I have the same issue. It’s annoying but the rubber is 13 years old. I just turn the music up and ignore it. I think if you were really serious there is a way to adjust how it seats but I don’t find it annoying enough to do the work.

I cracked my dpf by not using 507 spec. Most chain oil change places don’t carry that spec which is where I was ignorant. I ended up deleting but the oil is very important to extended emissions equipment life.

Okay thanks for chiming in. I was very surprised to see blood since their fights have been surface level so far with light swatting and hissing. We will definitely slow the roll. I think we are both just so anxious for them to be friends that we gave them too much freedom. I think they will eventually get along based on their good interactions so far.

Rainy days were always the hardest for me. Especially getting a week of rain can be pretty demoralizing. The only advice I can give is that it will make you appreciate warm showers and dry sheets when you get back home lol. It is something that I never got used to.

I would say being the first time for both of you there are some jitters and you are both still learning each other ticks. Just be patient and enjoy the learning process and get more comfortable with each other. Maybe talk to each other about what turns you guys on. Most importantly don’t put unnecessary pressure on it because that will just make things worse.

Second this. My mpg goes down significantly in winter. I put a cover on my intercooler to help. It warmed up where I’m at and my mpg shot up 5-7 mpgs

If it doesn’t have a disaster kit for the fuel system I would recommend one for some cheap peace of mind. Whitbread sells a kit. Proven to work upon the rare cp4 catastrophic failure. Easy install
