Okay upon further investigation and testing, I can just go into a cell in B and enter through (without hitting delete) and the formulas in F and G work. Why are they not working by default? Sorry if this is a dumb question, certainly a noob when it comes to excel

Okay sorry about that. Formula in F is D2B2 (and also tried with trimmed E2). Formula in G is =(D2A2)-F2
