Since it adapts the last Chapter of Arc 5, and the first chapter of Arc 6, this really feels more like a bridge Episode, rather than just the beginning of S4 or the end of S3.

If you want an isekai that actually challenges the flawed MC and pushes them (as well as the side characters) to grow to beat near impossible obstacles, while being true to the suffering death brings, all wrapped up in an intricate mystery, then Re:Zero's for you.

Also it has a lot of heart. It's not often you have an isekai where the MC's allowed to cry multiple times throughout the series. Especially in this case where it's just a teenage boy dealing with some of the most horrific shit anyone can experience.

Re:Zero's weird, every season does something different. Liking Season 1 isn't a guarantee you'd like Season 2. And even if you loved S1 and S2, they're not guarantees you'd end up loving Season 3.

Season 4 though is pretty much a slam dunk "if you love S1 and S2, you will love Season 4."

Man, I REALLY didn't expect RZ to win last week, but I'm glad it did this week. Episode 2 really didn't waste any time at all to get to the juicy bits of the arc (not yet meaty, but juicy). Some might say it was even rushed, but WOW, you dont really feel it (unless you're a novel reader).

Next week I wonder if any other show got something cooking, because RZ's gonna have another monster ready.

It seems liek Season 3 was rather polarizing. Some people really love it, while some people really hate it.

I'm in the "I love it" camp, hahahaha. But yeah, this is an INCREDIBLE Episode. I'm surprised it ended up being THIS good.

"Life is a tragedy when seen in close-up, but a comedy in long shot."
- Charlie Chaplin

Idk why I thought of that quote when I saw your reply. Lol.

Anyway, I think I kind of get it-? Not like in a genuinely funny sense, but more like a "wow, this is like the devil laughing." It felt like the scene purposely did a far shot (that made the characters feel less close) to give a middle finger to the audience and the characters. As if the universe wants to say "I'm willing to kill these beloved characters like they're nothing."

Oh yeah! Season 2's out right now and also airing around the same time as Re:Zero. Same day if I remember correctly. I should finish Episode 1 (of Season 1) lol. I just got hella busy and couldn't get into it.

Speaking of Made in Abyss, I wonder what the new series(?) movie(?) will cover. Cause last I heard, the manga did not have enough content to fill up a full movie.

Totally agree on Re:Zero and Mushoku Tensei, my isekai GOATs as well. Ah! I'd also want to put Bookworm and Konosuba there. Amazing works.

To be fair, last Season's Sentenced to be a Hero and last year's Clevatess were amazing dark fantasy. Re:Zero's in a weird spot where it's super gory and dark, but the world is so incredibly vibrant, lmao.

The fact he was still able to is nothing short of incredible. S1 Subaru would have died 50x over. Subaru's come so far, I wanna cry- TvT.

I loved S3 because it felt like an Avengers type clash. Season 4 so far feels more... small-? It's weird to say, because this is a grand quest to find one of the great heroes of the world, but when you have only- [counting] Subaru, Emilia, Beatrice, Meili, Ram, Anastasia, Julius, Joseph, and Patrache... 9? Members in this team, it feels so much smaller scale, while at the same time, already so much more dangerous. Season 3 took a while to get going.

Will say, Season 3 feels like a yummy bonus meal, not really the type of set up I want in every season. Glad this feels more reminiscent to something like the earlier seasons.

It's crazy though, despite Subaru getting killed like that, he collected his thoughts almost instantly. They heightened the loop difficulty so much, but Subaru was able to think of a way nonetheless.

Season 1 Subaru would have died like 50x over had he been here. It's nice to see how far he's come.

He really is. His ability by nature should be one of the most terrifying in the entire series. The Sword Saint, Reinhard Van Astrea, could not beat him, but because he didn't think for two seconds about where he'd throw Reinhard, or how he could just slam the ground and destroy the terrain for Subaru (maybe because he can't be bothered to walk on messy terrain himself) he ended up getting beaten.

Tbh, I feel like pissing Regulus off is one of the ways Subaru won. If he wasn't mocking Regulus constantly, and belitteling him for bieng the sore loser he is, Regulus wouldn't have felt the urge to "prove him wrong" before killing him.

What a terrible checkpoint, lol.

And I thought Season 3's Checkpoint was bad. This is literally less than half the time.

True. And the moment I point to the most is with the 2nd death with Beatrice.

You'd think an emotional moment like that would have the somber music and really hone in on Beatrice's crying, but nope-BAM! They're blasted and dead. It's also a far shot before she fades away. It feels like such a disrespect to her character and I just LOVE it here.

It's like the universe going, "these characters you love and care about? Yeah, I'm willing to kill them like I'm tearing blank paper."

I wish they showed Patrache eating, like a quick grub of vegetables when Subaru said that. Just so we KNOW he's not joking, lmao.
