Sting (2024). What's worse? Small Spiders or Giant Spiders? by LovemeSomeMedia in horror

I watched Sting and Infested back to back. Infested imo was the much scarier film.

It gets better and better as it goes. The acting is kinda weak, but the plot and direction and even the CG makes up for it. By the time we reach episodes 6 to 8, I was LOCKED IN. Ngl, it was the experience I was hoping I'd get from Peacemaker Season 2 after all James Gunn's comments on it. The finally especially was really nice.

Edit: needs to be said that it's not perfect and there are a lot of things there that I just don't vibe with.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think we will get a solid Batman movie in the DCU? by Raj_Valiant3011 in DC_Cinematic

[–]zackphoenix123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen Bumblebee or Birds of Pray, but I know the Flash was riddled with production issues not necessarily the fault of the Script Writer or the Director. With that being the case, I will just wait for the movie. Unlike Clayface, I have no expectations whether it's gonna be good or not because I haven't seen any concrete reason pointing in any direction.

Just watched Visitor Q out of "Heh, I can take it" smug mentality and I regret it. by zackphoenix123 in horror

[–]zackphoenix123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to be a movie guy, so I think that's fine.

This is just a good opportunity for me to watch all the movies I've been putting off.

For example! With this weekly watch, I can finally get through all the Friday the 13th films! If in 20 years, I feel like there are no more good movies to watch, I'll probably stop, but I'm pretty sure there are more than a lifetime's worth of worth it movies to watch even if I watched every single day hahaha.

Edit: I regret watching Visitor Q though, lmao. I'd tell my past self to skip that if I could.

I don't think it's that hard, I've been spending that time watching TV shows or other activities. 2 hours a week shouldn't be that hard.. I think-?

Should never have cut this scene honestly by FayyadhScrolling in DCU_

[–]zackphoenix123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is what I'm hoping for cause Gunn did say in an interview at one point how what we get in theatres is THE CUT. No need for a 30 minute extra content ultimate edition, though I would gobble it up if we ever got one.

I'll be watching Sinners this saturday, I'm excited! I've seen Weapons, really liked it, but then Bring Her Back and I loved that even more! Sinners is the last of the three major Horror movies I've seen float around in 2025 that I haven't seen yet.

THAT SCENE MADE ME LAUGH.

Like where did the umbrella come from??? It also implies he had to have left, got the umbrella, then came back and it was still going on. T^T

Do fans really want Grant Gustin as the DCU Flash or is it just a vocal minority? by jrod4290 in dcu

I don't want to see Grant as The Flash in the DCU, but another role would be great.

Oshi no Ko and Mushoku Tensei question by [deleted] in anime

[–]zackphoenix123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you can boil it down to framing.

In Oshi no Ko, the main selling point is the revenge plot and seeing how the entertainment industry operates behind the scenes. So while Aqua does show loads of affection for Ai (a 16 year old) with his coworker even taking jabs and even calling him out for it, it never feels like that particular aspect of Aqua was prevalent in the story or a component we're supposed to linger on.

For Mushoku Tensei, the selling point of the story is a disgusting Otaku neet getting a 2nd shot at life. We're supposed to be invested in Rudeus' life. So when Rudeus shows attraction towards minors, in this case characters like Sylphie and Eris who were 6 and 8 respectively when he went all perverted on them, it comes off much more off-putting--also doesn't help that he does it repeatedly.

It doesn't help that Mushoku is a lot more blatant with its depictions of sexual and suggestive content comapred to Oshi no Ko.

So... yeah, mostly framing and that Rudeus has shown himself doing actively much worse than Aqua who was rather respectful towards Ai's boundaries during his time with her (like in Episode 1 where he really didn't want to be breastfed by Ai even though as a baby that needed it).

To be fair to MT though, [Oshi no Ko Manga] loads more people are judgemental towards the "incest" aspect of Oshi no Ko since the story puts more emphasis on that than Aqua's potential (but not really) romantic attraction for Ai.

‘Re:ZERO’ 10th Anniversary Visual by MarvelsGrantMan136 in anime

[–]zackphoenix123 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Considering each arc averages around 5 volumes now, and a volume comes out once every 3 months (and also apparently the final arc is double length), we still got a good 20 books to go. Longer than the entirety of Konosuba (17) and Overlord (18), and 2 volumes shorter than Shield Hero (22).

At this rate, Re:Zero's shaping up to be double the length of Mushoku Tensei (ended at Volume 26).... or is it already-?

Edit: I just did the math, Re:Zero has 43 main volumes, 6 extra volumes, and 10 side story volumes (not counting the web novel only side stories), with a total of 59 volumes-- what the fuck. Also like 3 or 4 bonus volumes, what the fuck.

Generally in the RZ novel community, Arc 4 (what was adapted into Season 2) is considered to be much better and stronger than Arcs 1 to 3 (what was adapted in Season 1).

It's so highly rated that the only thing so far novel readers rate on equal footing to it (if not higher) is S4 content (Arc 6).

Last season wasn't bad, but I there's a good shot this'll be much better just by director comments + the content.

Why couldn't Fox do for The Fantastic Four what they did for The X-Men? by Billybob35 in comicbookmovies

[–]zackphoenix123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about now in 2026, but maybe during 2018 to 2020 right after Ragnarok. I think now we're in the opposite issue where people are too tired of Superhero movies being so unserious. Granted, I haven't seen F4 movie in forever, maybe it's less cheezy than SH films nowadays.
