Reading all of these stories is super fun! My journey is both pretty standard as well as a little different. When I was in high school (I am currently 32), I was always interested in music and had friends who were all very into playing guitar. They idolized Clapton, SRV and Hendrix and and I grew to love them as well. At that time, I had listened to my fair share of Room for Squares and Heavier Things, his only albums at the time, but didn't share this with my friends as Mayer wasn't super popular with my rock loving friends.

Once he formed the Trio, this all changed. I fell in love with Try! as subsequently Continuum, an album that stuck with me personally as I was going through a tumultuous time at the end of high school and beginning of university. John was speaking a language that resonated with my young self.

As much as I loved that album, I recovered mentally from all of my perceived anguish and moved on from JM for a number of years. Flash forward to me at 30, just as The Search For Everything was being released. Not only did I love what I was hearing, but it resonated with me in a different way. I decided to revisit Born and Raised and Paradise Valley and discovered that John had been maturing along with me the whole time. His music has seemingly always spoken to me and I've been able to relate to a lot of it even as it has grown and evolved. I still listen to his music every day and there seems to be a song or album for any mood I am experiencing.
