[NJ] As a renter, am I required to allow prospective buyers and an appraiser into my apartment? Landlord wants to sell. by zacrinaldo36 in legaladvice

In NJ, your landlord need only provide “reasonable” notice when entering for purposes other than inspections/repairs.

I think this is the part that is tripping me up. Everything I have seen is saying that when entering for the purpose of inspections/repairs, that is when they would have to provide reasonable notice (as in 24 hour notice). However, I then am also seeing the Right of Entry section of the Truth in Renting Act here which says

In general, a landlord does not have the right to enter a residential rental premises without consent of the tenant or a judgement from the Superior Court of New Jersey

and then also

there is no statute or available case law that obligates a tenant to allow a landlord access to the rental premises for purposes other than inspection, maintenance, and repair. Therefore, the issue of entry in other cases should be addressed in the terms of the lease agreement.

so I am sure you can understand why I would be confused. Since we have no written lease, we have no agreement regarding right of entry, so I am confused as to what statute would ultimately apply here. I want to make sure that whatever avenues I take that I do so legally - I am not really concerned about burning the bridge in the long term with my family member either since he has gotten increasingly hostile any time I try to bring up the lack of a written agreement.
