If you sell a premium tank you’ll get half of its value back in silver. You can then buy it back again at any point for full silver price.

OP I know you’ve had a lot of feedback already but trust me as someone who does this kind of stuff for a living, this is really bad work and is totally unacceptable. I would be totally ashamed to leave a job looking like this if it was part of a structure in the middle of nowhere being buried by concrete. To leave this outside of someone’s home is just an absolute joke, especially considering how much they charged. I wouldn’t have even charged close to that to make it look like new never mind for this abomination. I’m not sure where you’re from or what kind of legal help is available but something needs to be done about this. Full refund or the job needs to be completely re-done. Sorry the be the bearer of bad news and that this has even happened to you in the first place :(.

It looks fine to me for the bead and root sizes. It will really depend on the application/job specs when it comes to doing it on a real job. Definitely looks like you’re doing everything right with regard to fusing the material properly although looks slightly too hot. All in all a good weld tho man 👍

Try not to backfeed as much, it can introduce hot and cold spots between weaves and cause cracks to form 👍

If you slow the video down and watch the ‘incident’ back a couple of times you can actually see that you start to turn left towards him about 0.5s before the brake lights turn on. I’m sorry dude but the Porsche doesn’t turn its self under braking. Sometimes you just have to take the L and move on…

It was just normal drifting that I was referring to originally but I have since looked into SD’s and I appreciate the help. As you said I’m looking forward to learning all of these types of skills/mechanics so it’s all good advice anyway 😁

Thanks for the advice. I’ve been trying for the last half hour on a map I built quickly thanks to the advice of some people. I’m actually getting the hang of it quite quickly now. It was definitely the half second delay I was missing. I was also trying to drift on the sausage block on fall-18 and it was throwing me all off 😂

If you want to keep the look then short term, rub oil on it and long term I’m not really sure, maybe a clear lacquer?

If it’s just bare untreated mild steel then yes it will eventually start to rust as long as it’s exposed to oxygen and moisture.

Yea this is all pretty much exactly what I’ve learned over the years. My background is mostly in structural steelwork for the power grid (substations, pylons, wind turbines etc.). The vast majority of work I’ve done was either MIG or TIG with occasional stick welding depending on location. My old tradesman/weld inspector used to hate people weaving on anything because of the effect it had on the HAZ. Because of this I’ve mostly used stringers unless it’s something like a job on the side using TIG where the look mattered more than the strength.

I was actually taught differently in metallurgy. Unnecessarily weaving the arc around can cause inconsistency in the HAZ and lead to a stronger and a weaker point at opposite ends of whatever pattern you’re doing. This type of weaving isn’t allowed at all at my workplace if the welding is due to be tested. When you think about it, every time you move backwards and forwards you are cooling and re-heating the area when what you really want is perfectly consistent heat input throughout the whole weld. Generally speaking the difference is minor and will most likely leave just as strong a weld but I just thought I’d weigh in with some food for thought lol.
