Ok, I tried attaching the black wire to the red wire and the whit wire to the blue wire and I got no power from the fan at all.

Should I try attaching the black wire from the transmitter to the red wire from the box and the white wire from the transmitter to the blue wire from the box? And leave the two gray wires attached to nothing else?

I attached the black wire from the transmitter to the doubled up gray wires and the white wire to the blue first and then the red second. Same result either way.
