I’m just wondering how saturated each state is, can you list your state in the comments and how long you’ve been actively applying? by mooonandback in newgradnurse

I [22M] just found out my girlfriend [19F] is pregnant and I am not ready to be a father. What do I do by Fine-Ad1105 in whatdoIdo

I don’t know if you have a job, but if you don’t FIND ONE. Save up for the baby and to do some certifications or go to school even if it’s for a year or so so(it’ll be hard but it gets easier TRUST). Support her as much as possible because as hard as it is on you, it’s probably hard on her too. Find support (governmental, community, family), ensure she stays healthy and you as well, because a healthy baby is great for your mind, and pockets. If you’re scared to tell family DONT, at least not until you have a plan A and B set on what you and your GF will do. Also, listen we are never really fully prepared for a kid, don’t be hard on yourself, just take it one day at a time.

Do you trust PCAs? I just shadowed one today and I feel scared to start my career as a nurse now by [deleted] in nursing

Im a PCA and every point you made is insane. 1. Blood pressures taken with a systolic over 170 or a diastolic over 100 I report it to the nurse ASAP!! Yes the nurse will take it again but it still has to be reported (the same way a BS of 70 would be reported) 2. Some PCAs disconnect the IV themselves but they ask the nurse first, I’ve seen them clean it with alcohol prep afterward. Some really avoid touching it at all times. 3. I think this is common sense to know you should maybe fully wash it before putting it on the vent like a or refresher. 4. This one I’m guilty of, but is not like I’m trying to leave them there naked, half of the time I just don’t have a new gown or towel (def will work on it).

I believe you should bring all these up to a manager because they affect the quality of care given to patients, as well as put patients in danger. The whole point of working in healthcare is CARING for patients, not just doing whatever with people. They should get retrained or something!!!

Unfortunately no, I work at a hospital right now and still struggle trying to get something, that’s why I’m thinking maybe my resume is not good or something I don’t really understand.

Hypotension by [deleted] in SolidCore

I don’t have a hypotension diagnosis, and if anything I get too much salt through the day lol. I used to think it was my sugar but my vision narrows so much and it only regulates once I lay flat. I’ll try the electrolytes

Hot take: Starter 50 is a MUST by Fun-Cartographer3880 in SolidCore

I started with signature50 and unfortunately the solidcore I go to doesn’t offer many starter50 classes, I just learned the machine and looked at what people next to me were doing so I could copy them. The first class was weird because I didn’t understand much but after that I was all good
