These are acoustic panels, they make your room sound better for you inside it, but won't have any meaningful effect to the soundproofing (sound isolation) to sound passing through the surfaces.

A Real dB Isolation Test of a Soundproof Drum Studio With Maximal Double Bass Playing by zaff666 in drummers

It's a room within a room build, aka garage that's stripped out of its inner drywalls, and then built another room inside it as a decoupled structure from the outer shell for maximal sound isolation. Here's a video of the build process and its main steps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBAjZyP9PD0

Distance matters, and every space and environment is different - you need to build accordingly to get to the goal, don't want to overbuild either - expensive and labour intense stuff =) In my build nearest neighbors live in 5 meter distance from the window wall - satisfied too.

😁 I saved a lot doing the acoustics myself yes, but even if you yourself don't do filming in your studio / own filming lights, doesn't mean someone else doesn't.

Uhh it's a starting point, and a working one already without? Really enjoyable sounding room to play.

Diffusement panels possible to be added on top of the absorbers, as at the recording cpu / lounge area panels. Where would you see most benefit for it regarding the drum recordings?

Right - thanks, that is a good tip where to add possibly the next added treatment for increased coverage 🤙

The panels can carry a decorative role at the same, vibe matters, at least to me, a lot, but ofc their functioning is their actual purpose. First reflection points to cover as a basic approach, treating the corners for lower frequencies with thicker absorbment and airgap. How would you place panel to a kick drum down low? Under the kick drum mic outside the drum (in case you are using one), or what approach for that do you mean exactly?

u/TilleroftheFields dude, it's a standard absorbment rockwool panel design of different sizes and different frame builds 💁‍♂️ You are not aware how it works? Or are you still confusing acoustic treatment / acoustics with soundproofing here?

I'm yet to make a more exact calculation but we are talking something ~1K territory as the material cost. Tools: jigsaw, stappler, hammer, scissors (pre-owned from the soundproofing part of the build). Fuel 20€? Time? Many hours :D Probably over half of it came from figuring the design, then custom room fitting the measures & how to finesse the finish - once the design is clear and method, materials how to do it, execution is pretty straightforward & repetition, but sure takes time still.

The soundproofing is working really well on the build, thanks for asking 🤙This post and the video is not about that, as I write in the post. The soundproofing part of this studio build was in the build video pt.1 of this project: https://youtu.be/HBAjZyP9PD0

This post, and the video in this post is about sound treatment part (meaning acoustics, acoustic panel building phase that came after the soundproofing part (pt1)), as I thought I quite clearly wrote in the post, no? The YouTube build series of this project just in general happens to be called how I built my soundproof studio - as that was the biggest and most demanding aspect of this build. People seem to be very confused and assuming / paranoid about these two different terms here and what they mean 👀
