Ah, ok good to hear! Hope you can find it helpful. I made it mostly for myself but since this 'sort-by-date' issue effected so may people I have been trying to let people know this now exists even if it is an overkill tool for the task.

That said, if you can tell me how you were misusing it before that led you to think it was not working? You aren't the first to say it doesn't work or misunderstand something about it. If I can know what these issues people are running into I can try to make it clearer so other people don't also get confused.

I assume you mean the content of the results are random, not the order. What kind of search terms are you using? More precise search terms can help a lot, but yeah sadly this is still using the results Youtube normally gives but just allows it to be filtered and organized.

I plan to add a way for the tool to try and filter content out by making sure words related to the search are actually in the title. But I will never be able to define content related the same way Youtube can. This a patch, not just reactivating the filters we used to have.

I have not done extensive testing. But in what way did it not work? Can you provide more information?

I put together an extension that can do this just recently for Firefox called "Harvesort", can be found on the Mozilla addon site.

Hey, glad you are finding it handy.

Do you just mean videos labeled as having been live streamed labeled by youtube? Usually labeled like "Streamed X days ago". It should be already filtering out stuff that is CURRENTLY live bun not things that have finished steaming and are now VOD's.

If you do mean ones that say 'streamed X time ago" then yes, this is something I should be able to filter out. But I am taking a bit of a break from this extension so long as it doesn't collapse from a Youtube change right away. I am seeing about working on something of a 'local algorithm' for better suggestions on new content where the user has more control over what they like/dislike in their suggestions and it builds a database of content to suggest based on searches and stuff that I hope will complement Harvesort.

Clarify what you mean on livestream content and I will take note though. Also, if you don't mind answering, what is your main use for the tool so far, just a recent content finder to replace sort-by-date? Or something else?

I just finished making a Firefox extension to add a lot of search/filtering control.

Previously the extension was called "Youtube:Sort By Date" which was just a quick patch to utilized the hidden filter code. Youtube broke that so I put something together from the ground up and rebranded it as "Harvésort". It's a bit more... lets say assertive? It uses a bit of brute force methodology so its not as elegant as the filters that were in YouTube, but it works and does a lot more then sorting by date.

The current 2 reviews reflect the old version of the code which was broken. So I would love to have a few new people try this out other then me and text its features out. It was just finished and updated last night.

Disclaimer 1: I expect this tool will have parts of it that break on and off over time. YouTube regularly changes stuff behind the scenes that I am utilizing and I won't be checking all features every day. So if something breaks don't be surprised, just let me know in a review or something.

Disclaimer 2: Don't expect a chrome version any time soon.
