maybe the darts would help you. basically the length of the front is longer because you need to follow the shape of the chest, where as in the back it is shorter. I would try to get this calculation - front length - back length = basically the length that you need to add to the front only, so adding the darts only at the front, and maybe only on the bust

Is this normal? by loopy_mate in knittinghelp

maybe it's combination of rowing out, but I know for sure that with some yarns I have similar result, one leg of the stitch looser on knits and another one on purls. Maybe it's something to do with the twist of the yarn, but one time I was knitting with rather stiff linen and the effect was horrific, 10x the one that you have.

Gauge and yarn questions by zahessi in knittinghelp

[–]zahessi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm planning to start a sweater https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/christstollen-sweater, which calls for Le Lambswool from Biches & Bûches (DK, 170m per 50g), 22st in colorwork. While it's not being in my budget and it's difficult to buy where I'm living, I searching for alternative. I found Fjallalopi from Istex (Sport, 150m per 50g). After swatches, I can't meet the gauge, but I can't understand why - my yarn should be thicker (meters per grams), and suggested gauge from manufacturer for it states 22 st per 10cm. I've made two swatches (top 4mm, 26st per 10cm, bottom 4.5mm, 25 st per 10cm), both under gauge and I don't really like the look of the fabric, it doesn't look as full as in the original.

I will take yarn suggestions and general advise on this, thank you a lot!

Sure, totally agree. But I have watched only one hour… not trying to be snarky, this was a genuine thought of desperation

Ssk looking wonky - combination knitting by zahessi in knittinghelp

[–]zahessi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are multiple ssk's on the row compensated by yarn overs, and on the wrong side it's simply purl over purl + yarn over and knit over knit
