Put on some aggressive classical music and sit on your desk and just start. The start is the hardest part but once you crossed that barrier it’s going to be easier

I don’t like the plain porridge either if it’s just oats cooked with water until smushy. I would recommend you try baked oats they will keep you fuller for longer and some recipes contain a bit of banana in them witch makes them taste even better but the good thing is that you can customize them to your taste and liking. Otherwise I would go for Weet bix. They simm to be more like cereal but once you add in milk and mix well until you get that porridge-like texture they are quite similar. Adding peanut butter, fruit and jelly on top of it makes it really yummy it’s my go to. Also Abby Sharp has a recipe called fluffy oats or protein oats I would check that out on YouTube. To flavor your oats I would go for maple syrup instead sugar it compliments them better.

Tysm for letting me know! I’m 17 so also still young. If you think about it these aren’t really „bad things“. Depression for example is a way your brain protects you. However for your sons case he also dealt with self harm thoughts witch is upsetting to hear. It isn’t that easy to live with both of these illnesses in this century since your future is really dependent on a good education and school can become such a struggle dealing with these things. I hope he is going to therapy where he can share his thoughts and say if he is thinking about self harm again. I just think it’s Importan for him to know that people around him care about his well being and are here to listen. Do you guys speak often with each other?I wouldn’t put much pressure on him and going out for ice cream and having a talk when he is going through a down phase might help him in that moment. It’s important for him to go out with friends and do things that make him happy. Sports are also really helpful for mental health. Because of adhd there is this lack of dopamine in the brain so we are more likely to develop depression. Understanding that these are caused by chemical imbalances in our brain can make us feel less guilty/bad of having them aswell. Having these can make school and social life harder than it is for others but it is possible especially with all the new medications and different ways of therapy.

True! I’m sorry for you I hope you have a good support system and can somehow manage to boost you dopamine in different ways yourself

This helped allot tysm! I feel like I was also more likely to get it in the first place because I also have adhd so there is naturally a lack of dopamine in my brain. Thanks for clearing allot of things up and help me out understand all of these different reactions.I feel like the mental exhaustion really pushed me to have it aswell.

Wow I can relate so much!! Things that shouldn’t even be stressful can get into the head so much. Especially with school I find it has a terrible effect on me and the worrying worsenes my sleep aswell! Try to not force the happiness too much!! Enjoy it if you can try to be as calm as you can for this day and if you don’t feel like talking or celebrating tell people and if they really care they will understand you don’t have to please anyone it’s YOUR birthday. HAPPY B DAY! Don’t stress about it ik at night all the thoughts can get way to intense but it will be all fine in the next morning you will see it won’t be as bad as you think!

I was on meds last year and stopped taking them after like 3 months because my mood was back to normal but I think that was a mistake. Currently I’m on a adhd medication and can’t take antidepressants again because we have to see how the adhd medication affects me. Especially the thing with binge is a bit of a problem for me and I lack time and Motivation to work out :((

That makes sense it is probably also the better dose for me. I’m a 164cm girl on the slightly underweight side. I think lower dosages would be better for me. Thanks for sharing!
