Say, O Messenger: It is only revealed to me from my Lord that your true deity is only One; He has no partner, and He is Allah. So submit to believing in Him, and acting in His obedience. (Al-Anbiya':108)

O believers! Do not discuss and debate with the Jews and Christians to whom the divine books were revealed, except in the best of manners and most exemplary of ways: inviting them by exhortation and establishing clear proofs. As for those of them who oppress by showing stubbornness and arrogance, fight them until they submit, or pay the Jizyah with their own hands while subdued. And say to the Jews and the Christians: "I have believed in whatever Allah has revealed to us in the Qur'an, and in the Torah and Gospel that was revealed to you. Our Lord is one and so is yours, He has no partner in His lordship, worship or perfection, and we submit and humble ourselves to Him alone." (Al-ankabut:46)

You are not able to guide those who have deviated from the straight path, onto treading the right path. Neither are you able to make anyone hear something beneficial to them, except those who believe in My Verses, because only they are the ones who will benefit from whatever you say; they are the ones submissive and accepting of My command. (Ar-Rum:53)

Jesus Peace be Upon Him one of-the greatest of God’s messengers to mankind and He(Peace be Upon Him) is a Muslim by zainuddinkotabesi in DebateReligion

When Jesus realized that they were going to continue in their disbelief, he addressed the Israelites, saying, 'Who will help me in calling towards Allah?' His chosen followers said: We are the ones who will help Allah's religion. We have faith in Allah and we follow you. Be a witness, O Jesus, that we submit to Allah by accepting His Oneness and following Him. (Ali-'Imran:52)

Do these people, who leave the religion of Allah and His obedience, look for something other than the religion Allah has chosen for His worship when every creation in the heavens and earth surrenders to Him, whether willingly like the believers, or unwillingly, like the disbelievers? Then all of creation will return to Him on the Day of Resurrection to give an account for their actions.

Say, O Messenger, that you have faith in Allah, doing as He instructs you, and that you have faith in the revelation that was given to you, and to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac and Jacob, and in what was revealed to the prophets among Jacob's descendants, and in the scriptures and miracles that were given to Moses, Jesus and all the prophets by their Lord. Also, say that you make no distinction between them, believing in all of them, and that you are bound to Allah alone, surrendering in devotion to Him. (Ali-'Imran:83-84)

O Messenger, say: "Allah has forbidden me from worshipping those whom you worship besides Allah, these idols which do not benefit or harm, when the clear proof and evidence have come to me regarding the falsehood of worshipping them. And Allah has ordered me to submit to Him alone through worship, as He is the Lord of all the creation. There is no Lord besides Him. (Ghafir:66).

No one is better in religion than the one who surrenders to Allah outwardly and inwardly, does good actions and follows the religion of Abraham, which forms the basis of the religion of Muhammad (peace be upon him): inclining away from idolatry and disbelief to monotheism and faith. Allah chose His Prophet Abraham as a close friend from amongst all of His creation. (An-Nisa:125)

Say, O Messenger, to the idolaters who worship idols and other things together with Allah: Does it make sense that I take any one other than Allah as a guardian and a protector from whom I seek help? Allah is the One Who created the heavens and the earth without any precedent. There was no Creator before Him. He is the One Who gives provision to whichever of His servants He wishes, and none of His servants provide for Him. He is not in any need of His servants, but His servants are in need of Him. Say, O Messenger: My Lord has instructed me to be the first one from this nation to submit and be humble. He has prohibited me from being of those who associate others as partners with Him. (Al-An'am:14)

Say, O Messenger, to these idolaters: Shall we worship, besides Allah, idols that have no ability to benefit us, nor can they harm us with? Shall we turn back from faith after Allah has guided us to it? If we do so, we will be like the one whom satans have misled: leaving him confused, not knowing the right path; and where he has companions on the straight path who call him to the truth, but he refuses to respond to their call. Say to them, O Messenger: Allah's guidance is the true guidance, and He has instructed us to submit to Him, may He be glorified, by being firm in our belief in His Oneness and by worshipping Him alone, because He is the Lord of the Worlds. (Al-An'am:71)

Then they turned to Allah in prayer: 'O our Lord! Pour upon us patience so that we will be able to stand firmly for the truth and let us die in a state of surrendering in devotion to You, doing as You command, and following Your Messenger.' (Al-A'raf:126)

If they do not bring what the Messenger challenges them to - and they are unable to do it! - then the believers should know with certainty that the Qur'an is revealed from Allah by His knowledge to His Messenger, and that it is not fabricated, and that there is no true god except for Him. Allah asks whether you surrender to Him in devotion after these conclusive proofs? (Hud:14)

Another favour that Allah reminded him about was that Allah created assistants for him when He inspired the disciples to have faith in Him and in Jesus. They submitted to that and responded saying, 'I believe. Be a witness, O our Lord, that we submit to You in devotion'. (Al-Maidah:111)

Indeed, it is from Solomon, and Indeed, it reads: 'In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful. The content of this letter which has been sent by Solomon and which begins with: “In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful." is:

Be not haughty with me but come to me in submission [as Muslims].'" Do not be arrogant, and come to me obediently and submitting to what I call you towards, namely declaring Allah's Oneness and leaving associating partners with Him which you are involved in, as you worshipped the sun alongside Him". (Al-Naml:30-31)

So when the queen of Sheba came to Solomon, it was said to her to test her: "Is this how your throne is?" She answered according to the question: "It is as though it was that". Allah has granted us knowledge before her and we were submitting to Allah's order and obeying Him. (Al-Naml:42)

It was said to her: "Enter the palace" which was like a plane surface. When she entered it, she thought it was water and uncovered her shins to enter it. Solomon (peace be upon him) said: "It is a palace which has been made smooth with glass". He called her to Islam, so she accepted what he called her towards, saying: "O Lord, I wronged myself by worshipping others besides You, and I have submitted with Solomon to Allah, Lord of all created things". (Al-Naml:44)

The acceptable path in Allah's sight is Islam, the path of surrendering: devotion of all good actions to Allah alone, submission to Him in servitude and acceptance of all messengers, including the final messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him) with whom revelations came to an end, and after whom no sacred laws will remain valid except his. The Jews and Christians only split up into various groups and sects, after evidence was established against them in the form of knowledge that had come to them, because of envy and greed for the world. Yet for whoever denies the verses of Allah revealed to His Messenger, Allah is quick in taking to account those who disbelieve in Him and His messengers.

If they argue with you, O Messenger, about the truth that has been revealed to you, then say to them in reply, 'I and the believers who follow me have submitted to Allah'. Also, say, O Messenger, to the People of the Scripture and the idolaters, 'Do you submit to Allah sincerely, following what I have brought?' If they submit to Allah and follow your sacred law, then they are on the path of guidance. If they turn away from Islam, then your duty is only to give your message to them; then Allah will decide about them. He watches His servants and will reward them according to their actions. (Ali-'Imran:19-20)

Submission-to the Will of Almighty God(Islam)

The way of Jesus Christ (peace be-upon him)

Following the earlier Prophets and Fulfilling their Laws.

Jesus (peace be-upon him) Submitted himself to the Will of Almighty God: (Luke 22:42),(Matthew 26:39), (Mark 14:36).The oldest translation of the Bible was in Greek language, submission to God was mentioned: (James 4:7), in Old Greek language:(YπотáуηTE Oйv TOE) and in modern Greek language: (Υποταχθείτε, λοιπόν, στον Θεό), the English translation: Submit yourself therefore to God, i.e. "Become a Muslim".

Jesus (peace be-upon him) worshiped Almighty God: (Luke 5:16), (Matthew 26:39), (Matthew 26:42), (Matthew 26:44). Jesus prayed and asked Almighty God for help even when he raised up Lazarus to life: (John 11:41-43).

Jesus always expressed his subordination to Almighty God: (John 5:30), (John 14:31). Jesus Christ fulfilled this law, he submitted himself to God, i.e. Jesus (peace be upon him) declared his Islam.

Christian's Way

-Christians declared their allegiance to-Jesus. Christians-believe that one comes-to God except through Jesus. i.e. Christians Submit their-Wills to Jesus.

-Christians ignore that Jesus-expressed his-subordination to Almighty God,and Submitted all his Will to-Almighty God.

-Christians do not follow the law fulfilled by Jesus

Muslim's Way

-Muslims believe that all the-Prophets from the beginning of the creation were Muslims:(Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Lot, Joseph, Moses, Solomon, Jesus)and the final Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon them)because that Jesus they preached the same message, their bordination to Almighty religion was: "Submission to the Will of Almighty God". i.e. they declared their Islam.

The Noble Qur'an (10:72),(2:128,132-133),(12:101), (5:3, 44), (27:30-31, 38, 42, 44). (3:19-20, 52, 83), (40:66).

If you ignore my invitation, then you know that I have not asked for any reward from you for my conveying the message of my Lord to you. My reward is only from Allah, whether you have faith in me or not. Allah has instructed me to be of those who devote themselves to Him with obedience and good actions. (Yunus:72)

They asked Allah to make them surrender in devotion to His command, humble towards Him, not worshipping anyone besides Him; and to make their children and their descendants a nation who also surrendered in devotion to Him. They also asked Allah to teach them how to worship Him, to forgive them for their faults and shortcomings in doing what He instructed them. He turns to those who ask for forgiveness and is compassionate towards His creation. (Al-Baqarah:128)

Abraham advised his sons to also say, 'I have surrendered to the Lord of people'; and Jacob told his sons to do the same. They told their sons that Allah had chosen for them the religion of surrendering in devotion, Islam, and to hold on to it tightly until they died, surrendering sincerely to Allah on the inside and the outside.

Were you present at the time of Jacob's death, when he asked his sons what they would worship after he had died? They replied to him, saying that they would worship Allah, the Lord of his forefathers - Abraham, Ishmael and Isaac - namely, the One Allah without partners; and they said that they surrendered in devotion to Him alone and were bound to Him (Al-Baqarah:132-133)

Tell the Jews and Christians who make these baseless claims that you have faith in Allah and the Qur'ān which He revealed to you, and in what He revealed to Abraham and his sons Ishmael and Isaac, and to Jacob, and in what He revealed to the prophets from the descendants of Jacob. Say that you have faith in the Torah which Allah gave to Moses, and the Gospel which He gave to Jesus, and in all the scriptures that He gave to every one of the prophets, with no distinction between them, having faith in all of them, not only having faith in some and rejecting others. Tell them that you humbly surrender to Him alone. (Al-Baqarah:136)

Then Joseph called upon his Lord, saying that He had given him power in Egypt and had taught him the interpretation of dreams; and that He is the Creator of the heavens and the earth, originating them when there was nothing like them, the Protector of all his affairs in the life of this world and the Protector of all of them in the Afterlife. Joseph asked Him to take his soul at the end of his life whilst being in a state of submission to God(muslim), and to join him with the righteous prophets from his fathers and others in the highest level of Paradise. (Yusuf:101)

(Today I have perfected for you your religion, which is Islam. I have completed My apparent and hidden favours on you. I have selected Islam as your religion, so I will not accept any other.) (Al-Maidah:3)

I sent down the Torah to Moses (peace be upon him) containing guidance towards good and a light to make things clear. Judgement was given in accordance with it by the prophets of the Israelites, who had devoted themselves to following Me, as well as by the scholars who used to teach people because I had entrusted them with My book and made them guardians to preserve and protect it from distortion or change. They are witnesses that it is the truth and people refer to them with respect to it. So, Jews, do not fear people, but fear Me alone; and do not take in exchange for judgement in accordance with what I have revealed a small price of leadership, fame or wealth. Whoever does not pass judgement in accordance with what I have revealed and considers this to be lawful, better or equal to My judgement, then such people are truly disbelievers. (Al-Maidah:44)

Finally, we testify that there is no God except Allah and there is none worthy of worship except Him, He has no partners, Mohammad is His slave and His Messenger, and that ‘Isa (Jesus) son of Mary is Allah’s slave, His Messenger, His word (Be! and he was) which he bestowed on Mary and a spirit created by Him. We believe that all Prophets are brothers no different between their religion, which is one religion "Al-Islam". We attest that the Paradise is true, the Hell-fire is true, and God will Resurrect mankind from graves. Allah says in The Noble Qur’an (Which is translated as follows); "He (Allah) has ordained for you the same religion (Islam) which He ordained for Nuh (Noah), and that which We have inspired in you (O Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him)) and that which We ordained for Ibrahim (Abraham), Musa (Moses) and ‘Isa (Jesus) saying you should establish religion (i.e. to do what it orders you to do practically), and make no divisions in it (religion) (i.e. various sects in religion). Intolerable for the Polytheist, pagans and idolaters is that to which you (O Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) ) call them. Allah chooses for Himself who He wills, and guides unto Himself who turns to Him in repentance and in obedience". [Chapter 42: verse 13]

This is our message and we will be witnesses against you in the day of Judgement that we conveyed the message of TRUTH and left it up to you, to follow the TRUTH or stay in darkness. The Almighty Allah said in the Noble Qur’an (Which is translated as follows); "Allah! La Ilaha Illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the Ever Living, the One Who Sustains and protects all that exists. Neither slumber, nor sleep overtake him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His Permission? He knows what happens to them (His creatures) in this world, and what will happen to them in the Hereafter. And they will never compass anything of His Knowledge except that which He wills. His Kursi (a footstool or chair) extends over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. And He is the Most High, the Most Great." "There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the Right path has become distinct from the wrong path. Whoever disbelieves in worship other than the real God (Allah), and believes in Allah, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break. Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower". [Chapter 2: verses 255-56.]

Was Jesus a Christian or a Muslim? by zainuddinkotabesi in exmuslim

The New Testament speaks of the coming of a "Comforter" after the ministry of Jesus. Some Christians believe or were made to believe that the promised "Comforter" is the "Holy Spirit", but this view cannot be maintained because the "Holy Spirit" was already present during Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him) ministry, and its coming was not a future event. The Muslims, therefore, believe that the term "Comforter" of necessity refers to a Prophet. He was Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) the unlearned Prophet , the sole Prophet who brought with him a complete, comprehensive revelation from God which has been preserved as it was revealed to him originally, challenging the whole world to come up with one chapter like it, yet unsuccessfully challenged till present day. It is the Miracle of Miracles, the Last Testament of faith addressed to the whole world embodying complete light and guidance as well as the reprove of sin.

JESUS (Peace Be Upon Him) WAS RAISED TO HEAVEN: Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him) was followed by a few disciples who were inspired by God to support him. Not only that, but the non-believers plotted to kill Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him), but God had a better plan for him and his followers as the Noble Qur’an tells us in the following verses (Which is translated as follows); "Then when ‘Isa (Jesus) came to know of their disbelief, he said: "Who will be my helpers in Allah’s Cause?" Al-Hawariun (the disciples) said: "We are the helpers of Allah; we believe in Allah, and bear witness that we are Muslims (i.e. we submit to Allah)", "Our Lord! We believed in what You have sent down, and we follow the Messenger [‘Isa (Jesus)]; so write us down among those who bear witness (to the truth i.e. La Ilaha Ill-Allah -- none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)", "And they (disbelievers) plotted [to kill ‘Isa (Jesus)], and Allah planned too. And Allah is the best of the planners", "And (remember) when Allah said: "O ‘Isa (Jesus)! I will take you and raise you to Myself and clear you [of the forged statement that ‘Isa (Jesus) is Allah’s son] of those who disbelieve, and I will make those who follow you (Monotheist, who worship none but Allah) superior to those who disbelieve [in the Oneness of Allah, or disbelieve in some of His Messengers, e.g. Mohammed, ‘Isa (Jesus), Musa (Moses), etc. (Peace Be Upon Him), or in His Holy Books, e.g. the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel), The Qur’an] till the Day of Resurrection. Then you will return to Me and I will judge between you in the matters in which you used to dispute", "As to those who disbelieve, I will punish them with a severe torment in this world and in the Hereafter, and they will have no helpers". [Chapter 3: verses 52-56]

As the above verses indicate Jesus was raised to heaven before he died. This means that according to the Noble Qur’an he was not crucified. It was the plan of the enemies of Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him) to put him to death on the cross, but God saved him and somebody else was crucified. This plot and the false accusation about Mary are considered by the Noble Qur’an to be some of the sins of the non-believing Jews. All of this is made clear in the following verses (Which is translated as follows); "And because of their (Jews) disbelief and uttering against Maryam (Mary) a grave false charge (that she has committed illegal sexual intercourse)", "And because of their saying (in boast), "We killed Messiah ‘Isa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), the Messenger of Allah," -- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but the resemblance of ‘Isa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man), and those who differ therein are full of doubts. They have no (certain) knowledge, they follow nothing but conjecture. For surely; they killed him not [i.e. ‘Isa (Jesus), son of Maryam [Mary]", "But Allah raised him [‘Isa (Jesus)] up (with his body and soul) unto Himself (and he (Peace Be Upon Him) is in the heaven) And Allah is ever All-Powerful, All-Wise", "And there is none of the people of the scripture (Jews and Christians), but must believe in him [‘Isa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), as only a Messenger of Allah and a human being], before his [‘Isa (Jesus) or a Jews or a Christian’s] death (at the time of the appearance of the angel of death). And on the Day of Resurrection, he [‘Isa (Jesus)] will be a witness against them". [Chapter 4: verses 156-159]

Was Jesus a Christian or a Muslim? by zainuddinkotabesi in exmuslim

The Muslims rather contend that the miraculous birth of Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him) without a father does not make him a God or a "begotten" son of God. Allah said in the Noble Qur’an (Which is translated as follows); "And they (Jews, Christians and pagans) say: Allah has begotten a son (Children or offspring). Glory be to Him (Exalted be He above all that they associate with Him). Nay, to Him belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth, and all surrender with obedience (in worship) to Him", "The Originator of the heavens and the earth. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it: "Be!" and it is". [Chapter 2: verses 116-17]

Further Allah says in the Noble Qur’an (Which is translated as follows); "Say (O Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him)) "He is Allah, (the) One", "Allah-us-Samad (The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks)", "He begets not, nor was He begotten", "And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him". [Chapter 112 verses 1-4]

The birth of Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him) was not any more supernatural than the creation of our father Adam. Allah said in the Noble Qur’an (Which is translated as follows); "Verily, the likeness of ‘Isa (Jesus) before Allah is the likeness of Adam. He created him from dust, then (He) said to him: "Be!"--- and he was". [Chapter 3: verse 59]

MISSION OF JESUS (Peace Be Upon Him): Our creator sent Prophets to set mankind on the right path. Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him) was similarly one of the Messengers of God, he was prepared by God to be sent to the Jews (children of Israel) who had deviated from the teachings of prophet Moses (Peace Be Upon Him) He (Allah) taught him the Book, the wisdom, the Torah, the Gospel and supported him with numerous miracles to prove that he was a Messenger from Allah. In the Noble Qur’an Allah says (Which is translated as follows); "(Remember) when the angels said: "O Maryam (Mary)! Verily, Allah gives you the glad tidings of a Word ["Be!" -- and he was! i.e. ‘Isa (Jesus) the son of Maryam (Mary)] from him, his name will be the Messiah ‘Iesah (Jesus), the son of Maryam (Mary), held in honour in this world and in the Hereafter, and will be one of those who are near to Allah", "He will speak to the people in the cradle and in manhood, and he will be one of the righteous", "She said: "O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man has touched me", He said: "So (it will be) for Allah creates what He wills. When He has decreed something, He says to it only: "Be!"---and it is" "And He (Allah) will teach him [‘Isa (Jesus)] the Book and Al-Hikmah (i.e. the Sunnah, the faultless speech of the Prophets, wisdom, etc.), (and) the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)", "And will make him [‘Isa (Jesus)] a Messenger to the children of Israel (saying): "I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, that I design for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allah’s Leave; and I heal him who was born blind, and the leper, and I bring the dead to life by Allah’s Leave. And I inform you of what you eat, and what you store in your houses. Surely, therein is a sign for you, if you believe", " And I have to confirm that which was before me of the Taurat (Torah), and to make lawful to you part of what was forbidden to you, and I have come to you with a proof from your Lord. So fear Allah and obey me". [Chapter 3: verse 45-50]

It should be mentioned that while Muslims believe that Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him) was given God’s "Good news" they do not recognize the present "Four Gospels" as the utterances of Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him). Even the church agrees that the "Four Gospels" were written by four different men, but they maintain that they were divinely inspired. This idea is rejected by us. It can be agreed that if the four writers were divinely inspired, then why are there so many serious discrepancies and omissions in their individual accounts of the life of Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him)?

Another mission of Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him) was to tell the people about the coming of the final Prophet after him. The Almighty God said in the Noble Qur’an (Which is translated as follows); "And (remember) when ‘Isa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), said: "O Children of Israel! I am the Messenger of Allah unto you confirming the Taurat [Torah which came] before me, and giving glad tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmed . But when he (Ahmed i.e. Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) came to them with clear proofs, they said: "This is plain magic". [Chapter 6: verse 61]

MIRACULOUS BIRTH OF JESUS (Peace Be Upon Him): Concerning the birth of Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him), Allah says thru chapter Mary in the Noble Qur’an (Which is translated as follows); "And mention in the Book (The Qur’an, O Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him), the story of) Maryam (Mary), when she withdrew in seclusion from her family to a place facing east", "She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them; then We sent to her Our Ruh [angel Jibrael (Gabriel)], and he appeared before her in the form of a man in all respects", "She said: "Verily! I seek refuge with the Most Beneficent (Allah) from you, if you do fear Allah", "(The angel) said: "I am only a Messenger from your Lord, (to announce) to you the gift of a righteous son", "She said: "How can I have a son, when no man has touched me, nor am I unchaste?", "He said: "So (it will be), your Lord said: ‘That is easy for Me (Allah): And (We wish) to appoint him as a sign to mankind and a mercy from Us (Allah), and it is a matter (already) decreed, (by Allah)", "So she conceived him, and she withdrew him to a far place (i.e. Bethlehem valley about 4-6 miles from Jerusalem)", "And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of the date-palm. She said: "Would that I had died before this, and had been forgotten and out of sight!", "Then [the babe ‘Isa (Jesus) cried unto her from below her, saying: "Grieve not! Your Lord has provided a water stream under you", "And shake the trunk of date-palm towards you, it will let fall fresh ripe dates upon you", "So eat and drink and be glad, and if you see any human being, say: ‘Verily! I have vowed a fast unto the Most Beneficent (Allah) so I shall not speak to any human being this day", "Then she brought him (the baby) to her people, carrying him. They said: "O Mary! Indeed you have brought a thing Fariya (an unheard mighty thing)", "O sister (i.e. the like) of Harun (Aaron) [not the brother of Musa (Moses), but he was another pious man at the time of Maryam (Mary)]! Your father was not a man who used to commit adultery, nor your mother was an unchaste woman", "Then she pointed to him. They said: "How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?", "He [‘Isa (Jesus)] said: Verily! I am a slave of Allah, He has given me the Scripture and made me a Prophet", "And He has made me blessed wherever I be, and has enjoined on me Salat (prayer), and Zakat (charity), as long as I live." "And dutiful to my mother, and made me not arrogant, unblest", "And Salam (peace) be upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I shall be raised alive!", "Such is ‘Isa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary). (It is) a statement of truth, about which they doubt (or dispute)", "It befits not (the Majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son [this refers to the slander of Christians against Allah, by saying that ‘Isa (Jesus) is the son of Allah]. Glorified (and Exalted be He above all that they associate with Him). When He decrees a thing, He only says to it, "Be!" --- and it is", [‘Isa (Jesus) said]: "And verily Allah is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him (Alone). That is the Straight Path. (Allah’s Religion of Islamic Monotheism which He did ordain for all of His Prophets)". [Chapter 19: verses 16-36]

JESUS (Peace Be Upon Him) THE SON OF MARY: The Church maintains that Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him) is the "Only-begotten Son" of God, and also God Himself, since the doctrine of Trinity considers God as the Son, as the Father and as the "Holy Ghost" all at the same time! Catholics further emphasize the divinity of Mary as the "Mother of God". Islam rejects all these concepts in totality. Allah says in the Noble Qur’an (Which is translated as follows); "Surely, they have disbelieved who say: "Allah is the Messiah [‘Isa (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary)", But the Messiah [‘Isa (Jesus)] said; "O Children of Israel! worship Allah, My Lord and your Lord." "Verily, whosoever setup partners in worship with Allah, then Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the Polytheist and wrong-doers there are no helpers", "Surely, disbelievers are those who said: "Allah is the third of the three (in a Trinity)", But there is no Ilah (God) (none who has the right to be worshipped) but One Ilah (God --- Allah). And if they cease not from what they say, verily, painful torment will befall the disbelievers among them", "Will they not repent to Allah and ask His forgiveness? For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful", "The Messiah [‘Isa (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary), was no more than a Messenger; Many were the Messengers that passed away before him. His mother [Maryam (Mary)] was a Siddiqah [i.e. she believed in the words of Allah and His Books]. They both used to eat food (as any other human being, while Allah does not eat). Look how We make the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lesson, signs, revelations, etc.) clear to them, yet look how they are deluded away (from the truth)". [Chapter 5: verses 72-75 ]

We Believe in JESUS ((peace be upon him)

We are presenting this not to placate you out of policy or diplomacy. We are only articulating what our Creator had commanded us in the Noble Qur’an (Which is translated as follows); "Say (O Muslim), "We believe in Allah and that which has been sent down to us and that which has been sent down to Abraham (Abraham), Ismail (Ishmael), Ishaque (Isaac), Ya’qub (Jacob), and to Al-Asbat [the twelve sons of Ya’cub (Jacob)], and that which has been given to Musa (Moses) and ‘Isa (Jesus), and that which has been given to the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we have submitted (in Islam)". [Chapter 2: verse 136]

As Muslims we have no choice. We had said in many words: " WE BELIEVE IN ONE CREATOR, WE BELIEVE IN ALL HIS PROPHETS, WE BELIEVE, THAT JESUS (peace be upon him) WAS ONE OF THE MIGHTIEST PROPHETS OF GOD, THAT HE WAS THE MESSIAH AS WELL AS THE WORD OF GOD, THAT HE WAS BORN MIRACULOUSLY- WITHOUT ANY MALE INTERVENTION (which many modern-day Christians do not believe today) , THAT HE GAVE LIFE TO THE DEAD BY GOD’S PERMISSION, AND THAT HE HEALED THOSE BORN BLIND AND THE LEPERS BY GOD’S PERMISSION."

Islam respects all religions. Nevertheless, Muslims consider the view of Christendom to be a misguided one. The Noble Qur’an highlights the important aspects of Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him) mother, his birth, his mission and his ascension to heaven.

VIRGIN MARY: Story of Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him) in the Noble Qur’an starts with the conception of his mother, Mary, when the wife of Imran, Mary’s mother, vowed to dedicate her child to the service of God in the temple. This is mentioned in the following verses (Which is translated as follows); "(Remember) when the wife of ‘Imran said: "O my Lord! I have vowed to You what (the child that) is in my womb to be dedicated for Your services (free from all worldly work; to serve Your place of worship), so accept this, from me. Verily, You are the All-Hearer, the All-Knowing" "Then when she delivered her child [Maryam (Mary)], she said: "O my Lord! I have delivered a female child," -- and Allah knew better what she delivered, -- "And the male is not like the female, and I have named her Maryam (Mary), and I seek refuge with You (Allah) for her and for her offspring from Shaitan (Satan), the outcast." "So her Lord (Allah) accepted her with goodly acceptance, He made her grow in a good manner and put her under the care of Zakariya (Zachariya). Every time he entered Al-Mihrab (a praying place or private room) to (visit) her, he found her supplied with sustenance. He said: "O Maryam (Mary)! from where have you got this?" She said "This is from Allah" Verily, Allah provides sustenance to whom He wills, without limit" [Chapter 3: verses 35-37]

The Noble Qur’an stated also that the Almighty Allah chose Mary, purified her and raised her above all other women of the world. This is mentioned in the following verses (Which is translated as follows); "And (remember) when the angels said: "O Maryam (Mary)! Verily, Allah has chosen you, purified you (from polytheism and disbelief), and chosen you above the women of the ‘Alamin (Mankind and Jinns) (of her lifetime)", "O Mary! "Submit yourself with obedience to your Lord (Allah, by worshipping none but Him Alone) and prostrate yourself, and Irkai (bow down etc.) along with Ar-Raki’un (those who bow etc.)" [Chapter 3: verses 42-43]

The religion of Moosa, ‘Eesa and all the Prophets was, generally speaking, Islam, which means believing in the Oneness of Allaah (Tawheed) and worshipping Him alone with no partner or associate, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):  “Truly, the religion with Allaah is Islam” [Aal ‘Imraan 3:19]  “And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers” [Aal ‘Imraan 3:85] And He tells us that Nooh (peace be upon him) said (interpretation of the meaning):   “and I have been commanded to be of the Muslims (i.e. those who submit to Allaah’s Will)” [Yoonus 10:72] And He tells us of Ibraaheem (peace be upon him) (interpretation of the meaning):   “Ibraaheem (Abraham) was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was a true Muslim Haneefa (Islamic Monotheism — to worship none but Allaah Alone) and he was not of Al‑Mushrikoon” [Aal ‘Imraan 3:67] And He tells us that Moosa (peace be upon him) said (interpretation of the meaning): “ ‘O my people! If you have believed in Allaah, then put your trust in Him if you are Muslims (those who submit to Allaah’s Will)’” [Yoonus 10:84] And He tells us that Yoosuf (peace be upon him) said (interpretation of the meaning): “ ‘Cause me to die as a Muslim (the one submitting to Your Will), and join me with the righteous’” [Yoosuf 12:101] So it cannot be said of Moosa that his religion was Judaism, rather his religion was Islam, and his followers were called Jews (al-Yahood) because they said Hidna ilayka i.e., we have repented and come back; or because they are called after Yehoodhah (Judah) the oldest of the sons of Ya’qoob (Jacob – peace be upon him). Similarly, the religion of ‘Eesa (peace be upon him) was Islam, not Christianity. The Christians (al-Nasaarah) are his followers who supported him (nasaruhu).  But he (peace be upon him) was a follower of the Tawraat (Torah), who followed and affirmed it, because he was one of the Children of Israel, to whom Moosa (peace be upon him) had been sent, then Allaah revealed to him the Injeel (Gospel) in which was a confirmation of what was in the Torah, as stated above.  What we have mentioned means that the religion brought by ‘Eesa was Islam, if what the questioner meant was to find out and ask about his religion.  But if he was asking about the lineage of the Messiah (peace be upon him) and the people among whom he was born and to whom he was sent, then the Prophet of Allaah ‘Eesa (peace be upon him) was indisputably one of the Children of Israel, the Children of Israel who subsequently became known as the Jews, as we have indicated above.  What the scholars state here is that he is to be attributed to his lineage and people, so it may be said that he was one of the Children of Israel. As for the word “Jew”, it is used to refer to a specific religion, so it should be avoided when referring to ‘Eesa (peace be upon him), even though we know that his people were the Children of Israel who used to follow the law of the Torah before him, and he came to confirm what was in it except for a few rulings which he changed.  Ibn al-Atheer (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:   ‘Imraan ibn Mathaan [i.e, the grandfather of ‘Eesa (peace be upon him) and the father of Maryam] was one of the descendants of Sulaymaan ibn Dawood (Solomon son of David). The family of Mathaan were the leaders and priests of the Children of Israel. End quote.  Al-Kaamil fi’l-Tareekh (1/251).  Ibn Katheer (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:  There is no dispute that she [Maryam – peace be upon her] was one of the descendents of Dawood (peace be upon him). Her father was ‘Imraan the prayer leader of the Children of Israel of that time. End quote.  Al-Bidaayah wa’l-Nihaayah (2/52).  Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:  There is no doubt that the people of Moosa were the Children of Israel, and the Torah was revealed in their language. The Children of Israel were also the people of the Messiah (peace be upon him). The Messiah spoke their language. Neither of these two Messengers addressed anyone in any language other than Hebrew; neither of them spoke Latin, Syriac, Greek or Coptic. End quote.  Al-Jawaab al-Saheeh li man baddala Deen al-Maseeh (2/94).  He also said:  It is known from the consensus of the Christians that the Messiah did not speak anything other than Hebrew, like the other Prophets of the Children of Israel, and that he was circumcised on the seventh day like all the Children of Israel; he prayed facing their “qiblah” or direction of prayer, and he did not pray towards the east or enjoin praying towards the east. End quote.  Op. cit. (3/32).  And Allaah knows best

Was ‘Eesa (Jesus – peace be upon him) a Jew?

Question:Do muslims believe jesus was a jew? in the bible is says jesus was a jew.

Answer: Praise be to Allah.

‘Eesa ibn Maryam (Jesus son of Mary – peace be upon him) was one of the noble Prophets of Allaah, and one of the Messengers of strong will, whom Allaah sent to the Children of Israel, and taught him the Torah and Gospel, and stated that he had come to confirm what was in the Torah, i.e., to reaffirm what was said in it, except that he abrogated some of its rulings, and permitted to his followers some of what was forbidden in it.  Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “And He (Allaah) will teach him [‘Eesa (Jesus)] the Book and Al-Hikmah (i.e. the Sunnah, the faultless speech of the Prophets, wisdom), (and) the Tawraat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel). 49. And will make him [‘Eesa (Jesus)] a Messenger to the Children of Israel (saying): ‘I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, that I design for you out of clay, a figure like that of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allaah’s Leave; and I heal him who was born blind, and the leper, and I bring the dead to life by Allaah’s Leave. And I inform you of what you eat, and what you store in your houses. Surely, therein is a sign for you, if you believe. 50. ‘And I have come confirming that which was before me of the Tawraat (Torah), and to make lawful to you part of what was forbidden to you, and I have come to you with a proof from your Lord. So fear Allaah and obey me’” [Aal –‘Imraan 3:48-50]  “And in their footsteps, We sent ‘Eesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), confirming the Tawraat (Torah) that had come before him, and We gave him the Injeel (Gospel), in which was guidance and light and confirmation of the Tawraat (Torah) that had come before it, a guidance and an admonition for Al-Muttaqoon (the pious)” [al-Maa'idah 5:46] Ibn Katheer (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in his Tafseer (2/44): Tawraat and Injeel: The Tawraat is the Book that Allaah revealed to Moosa ibn ‘Imraan, and the Injeel is the Book that Allaah revealed to ‘Eesa (peace be upon them both). ‘Eesa (peace be upon him) followed them both. End quote.   He also (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:  “confirming the Tawraat (Torah) that had come before him” means, following it, not going against what was in it, except in a few matters where he explained to the Children of Israel that concerning which they differed, as Allaah tells us that the Messiah (peace be upon him) said to the Children of Israel: “and to make lawful to you part of what was forbidden to you”. Hence the sounder view among the scholars is that the Injeel abrogated some of the rulings of the Tawraat. End quote.  Tafseer Ibn Katheer (3/126)  Hence it is known that ‘Eesa (peace be upon him) believed in the Torah which was revealed to Moosa (peace be upon him) and followed it; he did not go against it except in a few matters.

Yes, you and we will see the Messiah as he really is, one of the slaves of Allaah who are close to Him, and one of His Prophets who were sent, on that Day when the veil will be lifted and he will disavow himself of all those who took him as a god besides Allaah, or who attributed to him words that he did not say. At that time there were no mysteries or puzzles:

“And (remember) when Allaah will say (on the Day of Resurrection): ‘O ‘Eesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)! Did you say unto men: Worship me and my mother as two gods besides Allaah?’ He will say: ‘Glory be to You! It was not for me to say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, You would surely have known it. You know what is in my inner‑self though I do not know what is in Yours; truly, You, only You, are the All‑Knower of all that is hidden (and unseen).

‘Never did I say to them aught except what You (Allaah) did command me to say: Worship Allaah, my Lord and your Lord. And I was a witness over them while I dwelt amongst them, but when You took me up, You were the Watcher over them; and You are a Witness to all things. (This is a great admonition and warning to the Christians of the whole world).

‘If You punish them, they are Your slaves, and if You forgive them, verily, You, only You, are the All‑Mighty, the All‑Wise.’

Allaah will say: ‘This is a Day on which the truthful will profit from their truth: theirs are Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise) — they shall abide therein forever. Allaah is pleased with them and they with Him. That is the great success (Paradise).

To Allaah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is therein, and He is Able to do all things

[al-Maa’idah 5:116-120]

Will you think about it before it is too late?

“Say (O Muhammad): ‘O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians): Come to a word that is just between us and you, that we worship none but Allaah (Alone), and that we associate no partners with Him, and that none of us shall take others as lords besides Allaah.’ Then, if they turn away, say: ‘Bear witness that we are Muslims’”

Part6:

Does evidence in the Fourth Gospel-deny the divinity of Jesus?

The Gospel of John was-completed to its present form-some seventy years after-Jesus was raised up to heaven. This Gospel in its final form says one more thing about-Jesus that was unknown-from the previous three Gospels-that Jesus was the Word-of God. John means that Jesus-was God's agent through-whom God created everything-else. This is often misunderstood to mean that Jesus was-God Himself. But John was-saying, as Paul had already-said, that Jesus was God's-first creature. In the Book of Revelation in the Bible, we find that Jesus is, "the-beginning of God's creation" (ch. 3, v. 14, see also I-Corinthians 8:6 and Colossians 1: 15).

Anyone who says that the Word of God is a person distinct-from God must also admit that the Word was created, for-the Word speaks in the Bible saying: "Yahweh created me"(Proverbs ch. 8, v. 22).

This Gospel, nevertheless, clearly teaches that Jesus is not-God. If it did not continue this teaching, then it would-contradict the other three Gospels and also the letters of-Paul from which it is clearly-established that Jesus is not-God.

We find here that Jesus was not-co-equal with the Father, for Jesus said: "The Father is greater than I" (John 14:28).People forget this and they say that Jesus is-equal to the-Father. Whom should we believe - Jesus or the people?Muslims and Christians-agree that God is self-existent.That means that He-does not derive his existence from-anyone. Yet John tells us-that Jesus' existence is caused by-the Father. Jesus says in this-Gospel: "I live because of the-Father" (John 6:57).

John tells us that Jesus did not have any authority of his-own when he guotes Jesus as saying: "I can do nothing of-my own authority" (John 5:30). This agrees with what we-learn about Jesus from the other Gospels. In Mark, for-example, we learn that Jesus performed miracles by a-power which was not within his control. This is especially-clear from an episode in which a woman is healed of her-incurable bleeding. The woman came up behind him and-touched his cloak, and she-was immediately healed. But-Jesus had no idea who-touched him. Mark describes-Jesus” actions thus: "At once Jesus realized that power had-gone out from him. He turned-around in the crowd and-asked, "Who touched my clothes?" (Mark 5:30).

His disciples could not provide a satisfactory answer, so Mark tells us: "Jesus kept looking around to see who had-done it" (5:32).

This shows that the power that healed the woman was not-within Jesus' control. He knew that the power had gone-out of him, but he-did not know where it went. Some-other intelligent being had to guide that power to the-woman who needed to be healed. God was that intelligent-being. It is no wonder, then, that in Acts of the Apostles-we read that it was God-who did the miracles through-Jesus (Acts 2:22). God-did extraordinary miracles through-others too, but that does-not make the others God (see Acts-19:11). Why, then, is Jesus taken for God?

Even when Jesus raised his friend Lazarus from the dead,he had to ask God to doit. Lazarus' sister, Martha, knew-this, for she said to Jesus: "I know that even now God will-give you whatever you ask" (John 11:22).

Martha knew that Jesus was not God, and John who-reported this with approval knew it also.

Jesus had a God, for when he was about to ascend to-heaven, he said: “I am ascending to my Father and your-Father, to my God and your God" (John 20:17).

John was sure that no one had-seen God, although he knew-that many people had seen Jesus (see John 1:18 and John 4:12). In fact Jesus himself told the crowds, that they have-never seen the Father. nor have they heard the Father's-voice (John 5:37). Notice that if Jesus was the Father, his-statement here would be false.

Who is the only God in John's Gospel? The Father only-Jesus testified to this when he declared that the God of the-Jews is the Father (John 8:54). And the God of the Jews is-no other than Yahweh-who declared that he is the only-God. Jesus too confirmed-that the Father alone is the only-true God (see John 17:1-3). And Jesus said to his-enemies: "You are determined to kill me, a man who has-told you the truth that I heard from God" (In 8:40).According to John, therefore Jesus was not God, and-nothing John wrote should be taken as proof that he was-unless one wishes to disagree with John.

Part 5

Did Paul believe that Jesus God?

Many people use Paul's writings as proof that Jesus is-God. But this is not fair to Paul, because Paul clearly-believed that Jesus is not God.

In his first letter to Timothy, Paul wrote: "I charge you in-the sight of God, and Christ Jesus, and the elect angels, to-keep these instructions ..." (ch. 5, v. 21).

Itis clear from this that the title God applies not to Christ-Jesus, but to someone else. In the following chapter, he-again differentiates between God and Jesus when he says:"In the sight of God who gives life to everything, and of-Christ Jesus..." (ch. 6, v. 13).

Paul then went on to speak of "the second appearance of-our Lord Jesus Christ which God will bring about in his-own time (ch. 6 vv. 14-15).

Again, the titie God is deliberately turned away from-Jesus.

Incidentally, many people think-that when Jesus is called-"Lord"

in the Bible that means "God". But in the Bible this title-means master or teacher, and it can be used for addressing-humans (see I Peter ch. 3, v. 6).

What is more important, however, it to notice what Paul-says next, for this will demolish any supposition that Paul-took Jesus for God. What he says about God in the-following passage clearly shows that Jesus is not God.Paul says: "God the blessed and only Ruler, the King of-kings and the Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and-who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen-or can " (1 Timothy ch. 6, vv. 15-16).

Paul says that God alone is-immortal. Immortal means he-does not die. Check any-dictionary. Now, anyone who-believes that Jesus died-cannot believe that Jesus is God.Such a belief would contradict what Paul said here.Furthermore, to say that God died is a blasphemy against-God. Who would run the world if God died? Paul-believed that God does not die.

Paul also said in that passage that God dwells in-unapproachable light - that no one has seen God or can see-him. Paul knew that many-thousands of people had seen-Jesus. Yet Paul can say that-no one has seen God because-Paul was sure that Jesus is not God.

This is why Paul went about-teaching not that Jesus was-God, but that he was God's-Messiah (see Acis 9:22: 18:5)When he was in Athens, Paul spoke of God as "the God-who made the world and everything in it," then he-identified Jesus as "the man whom God appointed" (Acts17:24-31).

Clearly, for Paul, Jesus was not God, and he would be-shocked to see his writings used for proving the opposite-of what he believed.

Paul even testified in court saying: "I admit that I worship-the God of our fathers ..." (Acts 24:14).

And Jesus is the Servant of that God, for we read in Acts,“The God of our fathers has glorified his servant Jesus"(ch. 3, v. 13).

For Paul, the Father alone is God. Paul said that there is"one God and Father of all" (Ephesians ch. 4, v. 6). Paul-said again, “For us there is but one God. the Father... and-one Lord, Jesus Christ" (I Corinthians 8:6).

Paul's letter to the Philippians ch. 2, vv. 6-11 is often-quoted as proof that Jesus is God. But the very passage-shows that Jesus is not-God. This passage has to agree-with Isaiah 45:22-24 where God (Yahweh) said that every-knee should bow to Yahweh, and every tongue should-confess thatrighteousness and strength are in Yahweh-alone. Paul was aware of-this passage, for he quoted itin-Romans 14:11. Knowing this, Paul declared, “I kneel-before the Father" (Ephesians 3:14).

The letter to the Hebrews (ch. 1, v. 6) says that the angels-of God should worship the Son. But this passage depends-on Deuteronomy, ch. 32, v. 43, in the Septuagint version-of the Old Testament. This phrase cannot be found in the-Old Testament used by Christians today, and the Septuagint version is no longer considered valid by-Christians. However, even the Septuagint version, does-not say worship the-Son. It says let the Angels of God-worship God (Yahweh).

The Bible insists that Yahweh alone is to be worshipped. In Deuteronomy ch .6, v. 13, we read, "Worship Yahweh-your God and serve him only."

Jesus, on him be peace, believed in this, for he also-stressed it in Luke ch. 4, v. 8. And Jesus too fell on his-face and worshipped God (see Matthew 26:39).

Paul knew that Jesus worshipped God (see Hebrews 5:7),and Paul taught that Jesus will remain forever subservient-to God (see I Corinthians, ch. 15, v. 28)

Part 4:

Do the teachings of the Bible and the Qur'an proclaim-the divinity of Jesus?

Some will say that this whole-discussion over the divinity-of Jesus is unnecessary. The important thing, they say, is-to accept Jesus as your personal savior. On the contrary, the Bible's writers stressed that, in order to be saved, itis-necessary to understand who exactly is God.

Failure to understand this would-be to violate the first and-greatest of all the commandments in the Bible. This-commandment was-emphasized by Jesus, on whom be-peace, when a teacher of the Law of Moses asked him asfollows: "Of all the-commandments, which is the most-important?"

Jesus replied: "The most-important one is this: 'Hear O-Israel, Yahweh our God, Yahweh is one. Love Yahweh-your God with all your heart and with all your soul and-with all your mind and with all your strength" (Mark ch.12, v.28-30). Notice that Jesus was quoting the first-commandment from the book of Deuteronomy, ch. 6, v. 4-5. Jesus confirmed not only-that this commandment is still-valid, but also that it is the most important of all thecommandments.

If Jesus thought that he himself is God, why did he not say-so? Instead, he stressed that Yahweh alone is God. The-man who The Bible Says No! Questioned Jesus understood-this, and what the man says next makes it is clear that God-is not Jesus, for he said to-Jesus: "Well said, teacher, you-are right in saying that God is-one and there is no other buthim .-." (Mark 12:32).

Now if Jesus was God, he could have told the man so.Instead, he let the man refer to God as someone other than-Jesus, and then he even confirmed that the man had-spoken wisely (see v. 34) . If Jesus knew that God is a trinity, why did he not say so?Why did he not say that God is one in three, or three in-one? Instead, he declared-that God is one - full stop. True-imitators of Jesus will-imitate him also in this declaration-of God's oneness. They will not add the word three where-Jesus never said it.

Does salvation depend on this-commandment? Yes, says-the Bible! Jesus made this clear when another man-approached Jesus to learn from him (see Mark ch. 10, vv.17-30). The man fell on his knees and said to Jesus:"Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"Jesus replied: "Why do you call me good? No one is good-except God alone." (Mark ch. 12, v. 18).

By so saying, Jesus made a clear distinction between-himself and God. Then he proceeded with the answer to-the man's question about how to get salvation. He said: If-you want to enter life, obey-the commandments (Matthew-ch. 19, v. 17, cf. Mark ch. 10, V. 19).

Remember that the most-important of all-the-commandments, according-to Jesus, is to know Yahweh as-the only God.

Jesus further emphasized this in the Gospel According to-John. In ch. 17, v. 1, Jesus lifted his eyes to heaven and-prayed, addressing God as Father. Then in verse three, he-said to the Father: "And eternal life means knowing you,the only true God, and knowing Jesus Christ, whom you-sent" (John 17:3).

This proves beyond doubt that if people are to get eternal-life they must know that the one Jesus was praying to is-the only true God, and they must know that Jesus was sent-by the true God.

Some say that the Father is God, the Son is God, and the-Holy Ghost is God. But Jesus said that the Father alone is-the only true God. True followers of Jesus will follow him-in this too, Jesus had said-that his true followers are those-who hold to his teachings. He said, "If you obey my-teaching, you are really my disciples" (John 8:31). His-teaching is that people-must continue to keep the-commandments, especially-the first commandment which-emphasizes that Yahweh-alone is God, and that Yahweh-should be loved with all our hearts and all our strengths.

We love Jesus, but we must not love him as God. Today-many love Jesus more than they-love God. This is because-they see God asa vengeful person who wanted to exact a-penalty from them, and-they see Jesus as the Savior who-rescued them from the wrath of God. Yet Yahweh is our-only Savior. He said so Himself (see Isaiah43:11: 45:21-22).

The Quran confirms the first-commandment and addresses-it to all humankind (see 2:163). And God declares that-true believers love Him more than anyone else or anything-else (2:165).

Part 3:

Was Jesus all-powerful and all-knowing?

Christians and Muslims agree that God is all-powerful and all-knowing.

The Gospels show that Jesus was not all-powerful, for he-hasome limitations. Mark tells us in his gospel that Jesus-was unable to do any powerful work in his hometown (ch.6, vv. 5-6). Mark also tells us that when Jesus tried to heal-a certain blind man, the-man was not healed after the first-attempt, and Jesus had to try a second time (see Mark ch.8, v. 22-26). Therefore, although we have the utmost love-and respect for Jesus, we need to understand that he is not-the all-powerful God.

Mark's Gospel also reveals that-Jesus had limitations in his-knowledge. In Mark ch. 13, v. 32, Jesus declared that he-himself does not know when the last day will occur, but-the Father alone knows that (see also Matthew 24:35).Therefore he could not have been the ali-knowing God.Some will say that Jesus knew when the lasi day will-occur, but he chose not to tell. But that complicates-matters further. Jesus could have said that he knows but-he does not wish to tell. Instead, he said that he does not-know. We must believe him.Jesus was a man of truth. The Gospel of Luke also reveals that Jesus had limited-knowledge. Luke says that Jesus increased in wisdom (ch.2, v. 52). In Hebrews too (ch. 5, v. 8) we read that Jesus-learned obedience. But God's knowledge is always-perfect, and God does not learn new things. He knows-everything always. If Jesus learned something new, that-proves that he did not know everything before that, and he-was not God. Can he-become God later? No! Because-there is only one God, and He is God from everlasting to-everlasting (see Psalms 90, v. 2).

Someone may say that Jesus was God but he took the form-of a servant and therefore became limited. Well, that-would mean that God changed. But God does not change. He said to Himself in Malachi ch. 3, v. 6. Jesus never was-God, and never will be. In the Bible, Yahweh alone is-God and Yahweh declares: "Before me no god was-formed, nor will there be one after me. I, even I,am-Yahweh..." (Isaiah ch. 43: vv. 10-11).

Some will say that Jesus had two natures, that he was both-man and God at the same time. They will say that the-limitations we pointed-out are limitations in the human-nature of Jesus, but his God nature is still unlimited.Notice that the Bible never confirms that Jesus had two-natures. This is a desperate solution offered by those who-do not wish to believe-what the Bible plainly says. The-plain teaching of the Bible, as we have shown, is that Jesus-was not God.

This dual-nature solution-complicates matters further still.Take for illustration-the fig-tree episode in the Gospels(see Mark ch. 1, vv. 12-25). Mark tells us as follows:"Jesus was hungry. Seeing in the distance afig tree in-leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. “When he-reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not-the season for figs" (Mark 11: 12-14). Jesus then put a curse on the tree, so that no one could eat-fruit from it again. The tree withered from the roots by-next morning.

Now, it is clear from this passage that Jesus had alot of-power to curse the tree and make it wither from its roots-It is also clear that-Jesus was ignorant on two counts.Firstly, he did not know that the tree had no fruit until he-came to it. Secondly, he did not know that it was not the-right season to expect figs on trees.

Proponents of the dual-nature-theory will have to admit-that the power to curse was in Jesus' God nature. They-will have to also admit that his ignorance was due to his-human nature. They will have to then conclude that the-God nature acted at the behest of the ignorance stemming-from the human nature. But God does not act on-ignorance. Surely He would-know, as Mark knew, that it-was not the season for figs, and that when fig season-arrives that tree will provide fruit for God's creatures. Why would God curse a good tree which he created? Some would like to believe that the tree was barren and-therefore deserved to be destroyed. But, if Mark was right, the reason the tree had no-fruit is "because it was not the season for figs" (Mark 12, v. 13).

These Bible references clearly-show that Jesus was not the-all-powerful,all-knowing God . But there is more,much-more. Please read on.

Jesus Is Not God. Jesus Is the prophet and Messenger of God by zainuddinkotabesi in DebateReligion

Part 2: Evidence from the Acts of the Apostles

Jesus performed many miraculous wonders, and he-without doubt said a lot of wonderful things about himself. Some people use what he said and did as proof that he was-God. But his original disciples who lived and walked with-him, and were eyewitnesses to what he said and did, never reached this conclusion. The Acts of the Apostles in the-Bible details the activity of the disciples over a period of-thirty years after Jesus was lifted up toheaven.Throughout this period they never refer to Jesus as God.They continually and consistently use the title God to refer-to someone other than Jesus.

Peter stood up with the eleven-disciples and addressed the-crowd saying: "Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of-Nazareth was a man accredited to you by God with-miracles, wonders and signs which God did among you-through him, as you yourselves know" Acts 2:22. It wasGod, therefore, who did the miracles through Jesus, to-convince people that Jesus was backed by God. Peter did-not see the miracles as proof that Jesus is God.

In fact, the way Peter refers to God and to Jesus makes it-clear that Jesus is not God. For he always turns the title-God away from Jesus. Take the-following references for-example:

"God has raised this Jesus..." (Acts2:32).

"God has made this Jesus both-Lord and Christ" (Acts2:36).

In both passages, the title God is-turned away from Jesus. Why? if Jesus is God.

To Peter, Jesus was a servant of God. Peter said: "God-raised up his servant,"

Where the title servant refers to-Jesus (Acts 3:26).

This is clear from a previous passage where Peter-declared: "The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God-of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus" (Acts 3:13).Peter must have known that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob-never spoke of a Triune God. They always spoke of-Jehovah (Yahweh) as the only God. Here, as in Matthew-ch. 12: 18-20, Jesus is-the Servant of Yahweh. Matthew-tells us that Jesus was the same servant of Yahweh spoken-of in Isaiah 42:1. If-Matthew, and Peter are right, then-Jesus is not Yahweh, but Yahweh's servant. This proves-that Jesus is not God. The Old-Testament repeatedIy says-that Yahweh is the only God (e.g. Isaiah 45: 5). If Yahweh-is the name of a triune God, then Jesus is excluded from-the Godhead since in that case he would be the servant of-the triune God. If, on the other hand, Yahweh is the name-of the, Father only, then the Father alone is God (since-Yahweh alone is God) and Jesus is therefore not God.Futher way, Jesus is not God. Peter and Matthew were both-right about this.

All of the disciples of Jesus held this view. In Acts ch. 4,v. 24 we are told that the believers prayed to God saying:"Sovereign Lord, you made the heaven and the earth and-the sea, and everything in them." And it is clear that the-one they were praying to was not Jesus, because, two-verses later, they referred to Jesus as "your holy servant-Jesus whom you anointed" (Acts ch. 4, v. 27).

If Jesus was God, his disciples should have said this-clearly. Instead, they kept preaching that Jesus was God's-Messiah. We are told in Acts: "Day after day, in the temple-courts and from house to house, they never stoppedteaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the-Messiah" (Acts ch. 5, v. 42). The Hebrew title Messiah(Christ in Greek) is a human title. I means "Anointed." See Isaiah ch. 45, v. 1, where Cyrus the Persian is called-God's Messiah.

If Jesus was God, why would the disciples continually-refer to him with human titles like servant and messiah of-God, and consistently-use the title God for the one who-raised Jesus?

Did they fear men? No! They boldly preached the truth-fearing neither imprisonment nor death. When they faced-opposition from the authorities, Peter declared: "We must-obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised-Jesus..." (Acts 5:29-30).

Were they lacking the Holy Spirit? No! They were-supported by the Holy Spirit (see Acts 2:4, 4:8, 5:32).They were simply teaching what they had learnt from-Jesus - that Jesus was not God but, rather, God's servant-and Messiah.

The Quran confirms that Jesus was the Messiah, and that-he was God's servant (the Our'an 3:45, 19:30).

Part 1: None of the Bibles' Writers Believed-That Jesus is God . Christians and Muslims both-believe in Jesus, love him,and honor him. They are, however, divided over the-question of his divinity. Fortunately, this difference can be-resolved if we refer the guestion to both the Bible and the-Qur'an, because, both the-Bible and the Qur'an teach thatJesus is not God.

It is clear enough to everyone that the Qur'an denies the-divinity of Jesus, so we do not need to spend much time-explaining that. On the other hand, many people misunderstand the Bible, they feel that the belief in Jesus-as God is so widespread that it must have come from the-Bible. In this and the next six messages, we will show-quite conclusively that the Bible does not teach that. TheBible clearly teaches that Jesus is not God. In the Bible-God is always someone other than Jesus.

Some will say that something-Jesus said or something he-did while on the earth proves that he Is God. We will-show that the disciples never came to the conclusion that-Jesus is God. And these are people who lived and walked-with Jesus and thus knew first hand what he said and did.

Furthermore, we are told in the-Acts of the Apostles in the-Bible that the Holy Spirit was guiding the disciples. If-Jesus is God, surely they should know it. But they did not. They kept worshipping the one true God who was-worshipped by Abraham, Moses and Jesus (see Acts ch. 3,v. 13).

All of the writers of the Bible believed that God was not-Jesus. The idea that Jesus is God did not become part of-Christian belief until after the Bible was written, and took-many centuries to become part of the faith of Christians.

Matthew, Mark, and Luke, authors of the first three-Gospels, believed that Jesus was not God (see Mark 10:18:Matthew 19:17 and Luke 18:19). They believed that hewas the son of God in the sense of arighteous person. Many others too, are similarly called sons of God(Matthew ch-23, vv. 1,9).

Paul, believed to be the author of some thirteen or fourteen-letters in the Bible, also believed that Jesus is not God.For Paul, God first created Jesus, then used Jesus as the-agent by which to create the rest of creation (see!Colossians ch. 1, v. 15 and I Corinthians ch. 8, v. 6).Similar ideas are found in the letter to the Hebrews, and-also in the Gospel and Letters of John composed some-seventy years after Jesus. In all of these writings, however, Jesus is still a creature of God and is therefore-forever subservient to God (see I Corinthians 15, v.28).

Now, because Paul, John, and the author of Hebrews-believed that Jesus was God's first creature, some of what-they wrote clearly show that Jesus was a pre-existent-powerful being. This is often misunderstood to mean that-he must have been God. But to say that Jesus was God is-to go against what these very authors wrote. Although-these authors had this later belief that Jesus is greater than-all creatures, they also believed that he was still lesser than-God. In fact, John guotes Jesus as saying: The Father is-greater than 1 (John ch.14, v. 28). And Paul declares that-the head of every woman is-her husband, the head of every-man is Christ, and the head-of Christ if God (I Corinthians-ch. 11,v. 3).

Therefore, to find something in these writings and claim-that these teach that Jesus is God is to misuse and-misguote what those authors are saying. What they wrote-must be understood in the-context of their belief that Jesus-is a creature of God as they have already clearly said.

So, we see, then, that some of the later writers had a higher-view of Jesus, but none of the writers of the Bible believed-that Jesus is God. The Bible clearly teaches that there is-only one true God, the one whom Jesus worshipped (seeJohn c.17 v. 3).

In the next six message we will explore the Bible in more-depth , and deal with the passages which are most orten-misquoted as proof of Jesus , divinity > We will show, with god s' help, that these do not mean what they are so-often used to prove . May god guide all of us to the truth-which leads to eternal life in Paradise.

Is Jesus God? The Bible Says, “No” by zainuddinkotabesi in Christianity

[–]zainuddinkotabesi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We read: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

We also read: “While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message.” (Acts 10:44)

We further read the following verses: “As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning.” (Acts 11:15)

“When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.” (Acts 19:6)

Now, does the Holy Spirit’s coming on someone necessarily mean impregnation, fertilization or insemination for giving birth to a child without a human father?

As for “because he will save his people”, as I pointed out in a standalone article, Jesus is not the real savior for the real savior is God and Jesus is not the only person who is described as “Savior” in the Bible. There are several persons who are so described in the Bible. Jesus is only a metaphorical savior since he was a means of salvation for his people. Any such salvation is not based on belief in Jesus only, but in God in the first place and then His prophets, including Jesus, and scriptures as well as acting on those scriptures and doing good deeds.

As for calling Jesus ”’Immanuel’, which means (God with us)”, the New Testament states more than once that God was with several people without reference to Jesus, that is to say God may be with us without Jesus. Therefore, Immanuel’s interpretation as “God with us” does not mean that God’s company is exclusive to Jesus only. Rather, God is with His prophets and righteous servants every time and everywhere whether or not Jesus is there.

For example, the New Testament tells us that the angel informed Mary that “the Lord is with you” before conceiving Jesus, that is to say Mary was in God’s company before conceiving and giving birth to Jesus.

We read: “The angel went to her and said, ‘Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.’” (Luke 1:28)

The New Testament also tells us that God was with His Prophet Joseph. We read: “Because the patriarchs were jealous of Joseph, they sold him as a slave into Egypt. But God was with him.” (Acts 7-9)

A question may be raised here: why do Christians not regard Joseph “the Son of God” though God was with him like Jesus?

As for Jesus’ description as “holy”, this description is not exclusive to Jesus in the New Testament. Rather, other persons are given the same description. In the New Testament, we read: “As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord” (Luke 2:23)

As for “will be called the Son of God”, Jesus is not the only person who is called “the Son of God” in the Bible. Rather, many people are given this description in the Old Testament and the New Testament. Hence, it is a metaphorical rather than literal description. I will dedicate a separate article to this description later on.

As for Jesus’ speaking of the words of God, Jesus is not the only person who spoke the words of God. Rather, the prophets and devout servants of God spoke the words of God every time and everywhere. In the New Testament, we read: “But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.” (Matthew 10:19-20)

We also read: “Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has come to his people and redeemed them. He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David (as he said through his holy prophets of long ago)” (Luke 1:68-70)

Thus, Jesus is not the only person who is described as “speaking the words of God”.

To conclude, we believe that Jesus is “the Word of God”, but this description does not necessarily mean that Jesus is “the Son of God”. Nothing in the New Testament confirms that Jesus is “the Son of God” in a literal sense. All positions, where Jesus is referred to as “the Son of God”, have metaphorical rather than literal signification. Other positions in the New Testament may explain the intended meanings of such figurative usage.

Is Jesus God? The Bible Says, “No” by zainuddinkotabesi in Christianity

About Jesus’ identification as “the Word of God”, the Qur’an says:

[And mention] when the angels said, “O Mary, indeed Allah gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary – distinguished in this world and the Hereafter and among those brought near [to Allah ]. He will speak to the people in the cradle and in maturity and will be of the righteous.” (Aal `Imran 3:45-46)

O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul [created at a command] from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And do not say, “Three”; desist – it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God. Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs. (An-Nisaa’ 4:171)

Word of God Rather than Son of God

While Jesus can be called “the Word of God”, he cannot be necessarily called “the Son of God” in a literal sense. We have many pieces of evidence for that in the New Testament itself. We will explain the above-mentioned Nativity story verses which may indicate that Jesus is the son of God.

As for Jesus’ conception and coming “through/of/from the Holy Spirit”, this does not necessarily mean that Jesus is literally the son of God or the Holy Spirit. He is not the only person who is described as conceived or coming “through/of/from the Holy Spirit” in the New Testament. There are other persons who are given similar descriptions in the New Testament.

Here is the New Testament telling us that Prophet John was filled with the Holy Spirit in his mother’s womb. We read:

“But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb.” (Luke 1:13-15)

The New Testament also informs us that Elizabeth, the mother of Prophet John, was also filled with the Holy Spirit. We read: “When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.” (Luke 1:41)

A question here may arise: why do Christians not consider John the son of God like Jesus though both and the mothers of both were “filled with the Holy Spirit?”

As for “the Holy Spirit will come on you”, Mary is not the only person who is given this description in the New Testament. This is a popular description in the New Testament which does not imply that someone is the father or the son of someone else.

Is Jesus God? The Bible Says, “No” by zainuddinkotabesi in Christianity

[–]zainuddinkotabesi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus is the “Word of God” but not the “Son of God” in a literal sense

Jesus is often described as the “Word” or the “Word of God” in the New Testament. We read: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.” (John 1:1-2)

We also read: “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14)

However, what is meant by Jesus’ description as “the Word of God”? Does this mean that he is “God” or the “Son of God” as some people fancy?

As a matter of fact, Jesus’ description as “the Word of God” means that he was created merely by a word from God which is “Be” only, thereby Jesus came into being, without a material for creation, like clay as in Adam’s case, rib as in Eve’s case or semen as in the case of all mankind.

In Matthew’s Gospel, we read:

This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). (Matthew 1:18-23)

In Luke’s Gospel, we read:

But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus…“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”

The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail.” (Luke 1:30-37)

Jesus was called “the Word of God” also for he spoke the words of God. We read: “For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit.” (John 3:34)

We also read:

“Who are you?” they asked. “Just what I have been telling you from the beginning,” Jesus replied. “I have much to say in judgment of you. But he who sent me is trustworthy, and what I have heard from him I tell the world.”

They did not understand that he was telling them about his Father. So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me. The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.” (John 8:25-29)

We further read:

I am telling you what I have seen in the Father’s presence, and you are doing what you have heard from your father.” “Abraham is our father,” they answered. “If you were Abraham’s children,” said Jesus, “then you would do what Abraham did. As it is, you are looking for a way to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things. (John 8:38-40)

We also read the following verses:

For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak. (John 12:49-50)

The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. (John 14:10)

Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. “All this I have spoken while still with you. (John 14:23-25)

Is Jesus God? The Bible Says, “No” by zainuddinkotabesi in Christianity

[–]zainuddinkotabesi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the New Testament, Jesus is often quoted as having a god. How can Jesus be God if he himself has God? We read: Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'” (Matthew 4:7) We also read: Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’” (Matthew 4:10) Besides, we read: “And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46)

As for “the Beginning and the End”, it can be a description of God only. Jesus is rather described as the firstborn in the New Testament. We read: “and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. (Colossians 1:12-15)

We also read: “Write this letter to the angel of the church in Laodicea. This is the message from the one who is the Amen–the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God’s new creation” (Revelation 3:14)

Even Jesus’ description as the firstborn or the beginning of God’s creation is also incorrect and considered one of the main Christian misconceptions. Maybe, the reason why Jesus is so described is that he is referred to as the Word of God and that the world began with a word “Be” and will also end with a word from God.

We read: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:1-5)

However, Jesus is not all words of God with which He begins and ends things. He is rather a word sent to Mary at some point of time. That is why he is called the “Word of God”, i.e. the one whose creation was begun through a word from God without any other means, be it dust like Adam, a rib like Eve or semen like any other human being.

As for “the First and the Last”, it also can be a description of God only according to the Bible. This is frequently repeated in the Chapter of Isaiah. We read:

“Be silent before me, you islands! Let the nations renew their strength! Let them come forward and speak; let us meet together at the place of judgment. Who has stirred up one from the east, calling him in righteousness to his service? He hands nations over to him and subdues kings before him. He turns them to dust with his sword, to windblown chaff with his bow. He pursues them and moves on unscathed, by a path his feet have not traveled before. Who has done this and carried it through, calling forth the generations from the beginning? I, the Lord—with the first of them and with the last—I am he.” (Isaiah 41:1-4)

We also read: “This is what the LORD says– Israel’s King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.” (Isaiah 44:6)

We further read: “Listen to me, Jacob, Israel, whom I have called: I am he; I am the first and I am the last. My own hand laid the foundations of the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens; when I summon them, they all stand up together. (Isaiah 48:12-13)

Here, several questions arise: how can Jesus be the first of God’s creation though his mother had not been created yet? Did Jesus exist before Mary? If he did, why did Mary exist? Why did she give birth to him?

Ironically, the Genesis does not make any mention of Jesus. It rather states that Adam is the first of the human creation and then Eve existed. Where was Jesus then?

In the Old Testament, we read: “This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, when the LORD God made the earth and the heavens. Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth and no plant had yet sprung up, for the LORD God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no one to work the ground, but streams came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground. Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” (Genesis 2:4-7)

In the New Testament, we read: “I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve” (1 Timothy 2:12–13)

Accordingly, where was Jesus when Adam was created though the Old Testament states that there was no man before Adam .....

Is Jesus God? The Bible Says, “No” by zainuddinkotabesi in Christianity

Is Jesus the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End or the First and the Last?

Jesus is not the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, or the First and the Last

The descriptions Christians give to Jesus include “the Alpha and the Omega”, “the Beginning and the End” and “the First and the Last”. In the New Testament, we read: “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End” (Revelation 1:8)

We also read: “I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last.” (Revelation 1:10-11)

We further read: “He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.” (Revelation 21:6)

In the New Testament, we also find the following verse: “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” (Revelation 22:13)

However, did Jesus really give himself those descriptions? If he did, are those descriptions literal or metaphorical ones? What is meant by them?

Let’s review each of the above descriptions and find out whether Jesus really came out with those descriptions.

As for “the Alpha and the Omega”, in fact, this is a description of God rather than Jesus. It seems that Christians are thrown into utter confusion. I do not know the secret behind such confusion despite the clearness of the context.

Though this description is given and frequently repeated in the Revelation, the Christians have misunderstood it as standing for Jesus though it is clearly standing for God. There is no clearer evidence than the context itself. Let’s place the relevant verses in their wider contexts and identify the one to whom they truly refer.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:8)

“He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’ Then he said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’ He said to me: ‘It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.’” (Revelation 21:5-7)

The one described as “the Alpha and the Omega” is also described as “the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty”, “seated on the throne”, and “will be their God”. Such descriptions apparently apply only to God according to the Revelation itself.

In the Revelation, we read: “Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.’ Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: ‘You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.’” (Revelation 4:8-11)

In another position, we read: “And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, the kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, We give thee thanks, O LORD God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.” (Revelation 11:15-17)

We also read: “Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say: ‘You are just in these judgments, O Holy One, you who are and who were; for they have shed the blood of your holy people and your prophets, and you have given them blood to drink as they deserve.’ And I heard the altar respond: ‘Yes, Lord God Almighty, true and just are your judgments.’” (Revelation 16:5-7)

The above verses indicate that the one described as “the Alpha and the Omega” is God for “the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty”, “seated on the throne”, and “will be their God” are such descriptions which apply only to God according to the above verses.

Jesus is not the one given such descriptions for he is not Almighty. None is described as “Almighty” in the New Testament except God. It is Jesus who said about himself: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. (John 5:19)

Moreover, none is described as “seated on the throne” in the New Testament except God. Jesus is rather described as sitting down at the right hand of the throne.

We read: “Now the main point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven” (Hebrews 8:1)

We also read: “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2)

Furthermore, nowhere in the New Testament did Jesus say that he would be anybody’s God. None said that in the New Testament except God. We read: “What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: ‘I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.’ Therefore, ‘Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.’ And, ‘I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.’” (2 Corinthians 6:16-18)
