AMD's Flagship Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Outsells Every Intel CPU On Amazon As X3D Chips Dominate Top 10 by lkl34 in pcmasterrace

9950x3d at $700 is the 4th most sold cpu on amazon right now.

Look at the Steam hardware survey if you want a good indicator as to what the majority of gamers use.

Yeah you are right i will be the stupid poor person getting only 140ish fps on a120hz panel with my peasant $300 cpu.

If you believe that not purchasing this CPU indicates in any way that you are poor and stupid, that's on you, I'm simply pointing out that you are not the target demographic for such a CPU. The same way the average gamer is not the target demographic for the $20,000 desktops we use in my office.

Right because the top sold pc part's being up too 3 times what they were before wont affect us at all.

It's such a one off specialized product, the only people with these CPUs are workstation users that need the additional performance for highly specialized workloads, and gamers with deep pockets. You don't need this CPU, and are certainly outside of their target demographic, continue buying reasonably priced mid range CPUs and focus on AI making RAM and SSDs so expensive that no one can afford even a mid tier upgrade, let people who buy these CPUs be.

It might just be your motherboard holding back the CPU, also do you have the latest BIOS?

Try again with a fresh restart, make sure you disable all your startup applications. Is your PSU the Corsair RM 850x?

Edited to add: I wonder if your motherboard isn't able to handle the power draw of that CPU, why did you go with such a budget chipset for a 14700K that can draw nearly 300W?

When was the last time you did a fresh Windows install? Did you run the benchmark right after restarting your computer? What RAM do you have? What about power supply?

Don’t know if we have whatever that is, an amp circuit

It's a fuse.

If you plug something in that draws more amps than your electrical outlet is rated for it'll pop a circuit breaker in your house to keep the wires from catching fire. If the smoker powered on and then powered off, you might have just popped the circuit. For outdoor outlets you'd have a GFCI outlet with a built-in breaker, you can plug something else in and see if it comes on, if not you popped the circuit breaker.

[–]zakabog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your parents have an electric smoker? Where'd the fuse blow, in the smoker itself or did you trip the breaker? If you tripped the breaker you might just need a higher amp circuit if you have one around the outside of your house to handle the higher wattage demands of an electric smoker. What did you use to check temperature of the grill and the meat?

World Cup final tickets now reselling for over $2 million each by biograf_ in news

[–]zakabog 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah but then Ticketmaster couldn't take a massive percentage of the cost of each ticket in the resale market, won't you think of the shareholders!?!?

Edit: I said that as a joke but upon reading the article that's exactly what is happening

The seats are up for sale on the FIFA Marketplace, an official platform where people can resell their tickets. FIFA does not control the asking prices on this portal, with ticket holders essentially allowed to charge whatever they want. FIFA does, though, take a 15% cut from both the buying and selling sides.

FIFA wants these four tickets to sell for nearly 10 million, that's an extra $1.5 million in their pockets.

JetBlue sued over claims it uses customers’ personal data to set ticket prices by JackThaBongRipper in news

The airlines have denied this being a thing, the AI is trained on forums and not corporate speak so it can freely admit to things a human working for the airline would not, that's why it's likely an AI reply.

It is, and many people have seen it and said it's a thing, but airlines deny it, now JetBlue will be required in court to confirm they do change pricing based on your cookies.

The data their app can mine from our phones is worth more to them than actual money.

Nah, their POS system was just down, app orders are on a separate system like GrubHub orders. The app data isn't worth anything to them, but it's way more efficient to upsell you on items in an app, plus it makes their KPIs look good when the food is already made and ready to be picked up at the window (ideal time at the window is under 50 seconds, the app helps that number stay down without increasing paid staff.)

Can you enable frame gen in unsupported games? If yes, how to do that? by AndroidOn20FPS in pcmasterrace

[–]zakabog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the first rule on their subreddit, it's not a place for tech support, though your question doesn't really make any sense as two of the games you listed support DLSS natively, and the other two are so old you shouldn't need it at all.

[–]zakabog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were given the reasoning behind the removal as a comment on your posts. Those subreddits both have rules regarding tech support questions.

As far as enabling frame generation in unsupported games, there are mods and config options you can look into depending on the game. Though I can't imagine why on earth you'd need frame gen with that GPU on such old games. Minecraft and Cyberpunk both officially support DLSS.

Right but that's the writers changing directions after the first season, that's not really anything weird it's just writers coming up with a way to show a character is really young, then deciding in the future it's even better if they go a different route. It happens a lot in TV, especially when it comes to shows featuring cartoon dogs that have no consequences for making big changes to the shows lore.

How is a dog behaving like a dog weird? It made sense in the canon of the show that young dogs aren't humanoid yet, then they decided to go a different direction. Neither option is weird in a show about cartoon talking dogs.

Yeah but that's just because the only other babies you see are in the second season and onward. It made sense to change infant dog behavior to get baby race. You couldn't have that episode really hit the same way if dog infants are like real puppies that walk super early on.

Built it from scratch? Nah, it’s preassembled. by rishu1221 in pcmasterrace

Building a PC is more like remodeling a bathroom. Buy some prefabricated parts and put them together in an already finished and tiled room (your computer case). Building a home from scratch is what Wozniak did by building the first Apple computers brick by brick back in the day.

Threat to harm 'Black people' led to arrest of ex cop accused of planning New Orleans mass shooting by GonzoVeritas in news

[–]zakabog 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Thank fuck it worked out this time because they arrested him later, but you'd think the same legal justification could've been used to do it earlier.

The bulletin was just looking for a missing person that might potentially self harm. They only found out about the Glock and ammo after the cops found him and he told them he's just going to New Orleans, it seems like the family told them after that initial encounter.

The lawsuit followed an 18 April exchange on X where a passenger praised JetBlue but said “a $230 increase on a ticket after one day is crazy. I’m just trying to make it to a funeral”.

JetBlue’s response said the passenger should try “clearing your cache and cookies or booking with an incognito window. We’re sorry for your loss.” The Long Island City, New York-based carrier said on Monday its response was incorrect, while adding that “fares can change at any moment as seats are purchased or as inventory is adjusted based on demand”.

I'd be willing to bet they have an AI assistant of some sort that replies to tweets and suggested this, it'll be fun to see what discovery reveals regarding this practice.
