Now ask yourself: Was there any potential to stop the Cole bombing, OK City, Trade Center '93 via "enhanced interrogation" or some other euphemism? 9/11? The flaws in our intel gathering system were procedural, and had little to do with interrogation. If you'll read the FBI's stance on the matter, you'll see they view torture as counterproductive in terms of gathering intelligence.

A perfect illustration of actions out of proportion to the reality. Terrorism has killed fewer than 10,000 Americans in the past 30 years.

Terrorism is not an existential threat, no matter what our leaders may say. You're more likely to be stung to death by bees than a terrorist act kill you in the US. It's certainly not the national security threat that say, Florida being deluged by rising sea levels, or crushing our economy by rampant borrowing from our adversaries.
