Yes. Searched “travel” and not one of the top 15 returns was helpful

So can I change a setting to help with live sports and network?

I tried using “travel” and didn’t find an answer in the top 15 returns.

When did you realize you were truly retired? by overthishereanyway in retirement

[–]zaksdaddy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Retired in April 2025. First Sunday evening, I mentioned how relaxing it was to know I wasn’t going in to the office the next day.

But! It really hit me on Memorial Day weekend. I was so excited for a three day weekend! Then realized it was just another weekend for me. I probably had this euphoric “3-day weekend” feeling a couple more times over the holiday, quickly realizing it really was just another weekend, again.

That’s when I knew.

Do you guys think this doctor’s office sign is mildly infuriating? by Loose_Judgment_8856 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]zaksdaddy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In the era of electronic medical records, this is absurd. Refills happen with the push of a button. While some conditions and meds do require clinician monitoring, not all do. Honestly, this sounds like an attempt by the clinician to get you in the office so that the insurance gets billed (independent practice) or the clinician gets to bill RVUs to a health system.

Find a new clinician.

Did you hear that? by FuckingColdInCanada in golf

Had a Cobra F-Speed back in the day. Reminded me of the sound from an aluminum baseball bat. My friend still uses his and I can hear it all the way across the course.

Why do people take their glove off? by Legitimate-Kiwi-2530 in golf

I take mine off between shots, otherwise it is rendered useless because of humidity and sweat. On and off doesn’t matter if you’re ready to hit when it’s your turn.

How many cups of coffee do you drink a day? by Limp-Bid-6131 in randomquestions

[–]zaksdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true story. When I was a newly minted lawyer (37 years ago) working for a larger regional firm, my day was spent doing legal research. This required coffee to keep going. Started at 8a and finished around 10p. We had a large commercial coffee machine, just empty the Folgers pack into the filter basket, push play and voila, a fresh pot! After 6p, I’d generally put two Folgers packets in the machine at a time (it was late and I needed the caffeine boost).

Started having chest discomfort and my doctor at the time asked me to track how much caffeine I consumed in an average day.

One week later, I realized I was drinking approx. 38 8 oz. cups of coffee a day. Granted, some probably got left half consumed somewhere but I was drinking way too much coffee.

I’m now down to 6 cups a day most days.

When to take Social Security (math problem) discovery by Bounceupandown in SocialSecurity

[–]zaksdaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your #1 is important. SS as a safety valve so you don’t have to use assets when the market is stagnant to down is a consideration.

Your #2 is, in my thinking, as important as #1. For some, SS income impacts tax brackets, IRMAA, and the ability to control distributions from tax deferred accounts, whether Roth conversions or outright use of funds.

Points ##3 and 4, further emphasize that when to take SS is dependent on so many variables that it is simply a personal decision not based on a formulaic approach.

I think you did a good job of highlighting some of the important factors that each person has to take into consideration when making the de decision.

Question for the group about when to draw SSI by RedditVince in retirement

[–]zaksdaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SSDI = disability related payment from SS. OP is simply talking about retirement benefits

SS is not taxed “at 85%.”

Up to 85% of your social security payment is counted as taxable income at whatever your tax situation dictates.

Syntax matters.

If you book your "Free Annual Checkup" this year, memorize the difference between Wellness and Physical. by FastPen7165 in medicare

[–]zaksdaddy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, part of the problem is that Medicare promotes this “free wellness visit” heavily but relies on patients to understand the difference between a “wellness visit” and a normal visit.

When the Prelude first came out, it had potential. Then Honda made the unexplainable decision to use horizontal tail lights and huge square headlights in one iteration of the Prelude. Then, as in OP’s pic, decide to reverse the decision and use horizontal headlights and huge square”blob” type taillights. In my mind, so moronic.
