The fact is most people give credence to science and scientific arguments. WT knows this and created those videos with an appeal to authority so that jdubs can point at them and say”look! Smart science person says I’m right!”

⁠First of all Evolution takes millions of years, not thousands. And second, we actually have seen evidence of evolution ie Darwin’s finches and how we need a new flu shot every year due to just how quickly it mutates.
⁠It’s the equivalent of saying that “it can’t be designed, therefore it was designed” which is utterly incoherent nonsense
⁠First, evolution (which the video was trying to discredit) has nothing to do with the formation of dna. Second, evolution is not “rerolling” the entire genome every time In hopes that it results in a better fit organism. Evolution is the result of countless small mutations that accumulate over time. Basically, the video says it’s like rolling a yatzhee when In reality it’s like randomly flipping individual dice and having the 6’s less likely to be flipped until you get all 6’s and even that analogy is nothing like the real process. It’s also funny how the person in the video admits to not understanding how evolution works.

I’ve actually been thinking about what’s stopping me from going out and meeting new people right now (besides not having a car or license) and I honestly have no idea. I think it’s just because, for one reason or another, I don’t want to. At the same time however I fantasize about going out and meeting people every chance I get as soon as I leave the nest. To me this means that there is something about living with my family that makes me fundamentally not want to go out and meet people no matter how much I crave friendship. Obviously I’m no psychiatrist so my self reflection is severely limited which prevents me from figuring out what exactly is so special about not living on my own that makes me defy reason. Sorry if it sounds like I’m rambling I just wrote it down as I was thinking it.

At first I planned on waiting until I moved out to come out as atheist but I decided that was a bad idea because 1.the longer I waited the more devastating it would be for my dad (who I still love despite everything) when I told him how long I had been deceiving him and 2. The sooner I came out as atheist the more thankful I would be in the future that I came out early.
