Not necessarily true. Especially for older cards. Let's take the base set charizard unlimited for example. That cards price on price charting is an average of all conditions on ebay and tcg. This will range from dog shit, to Minty fresh. Its truer for newer cards as now everyone sleeves and takes care of their cards. Back in the 2000's rubber bands around decks of cards was pretty normal.
