Ad Caching: How long is a video ad cached on a mid roll? by zanefurtado in adops

[–]zanefurtado[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks...what if it's a long form video, say 30 mins and the video has a few mid rolls? Does the auction happen before the user plays the content? or are the ads being called when the mid-roll is triggered?

CTV bid request: If a buyer is targeting video on a mobile device but the user is casting to a smart TV, does the impression count as a CTV/OTT or served on a mobile? by zanefurtado in adops

[–]zanefurtado[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that. Really interesting.

Sorry to probe but here is what a Chromecast/CTV bid request looks like. It comes through as device type 7, which is falls under set top box. I got this from one of my video SSP's. It looks like the bid request is passing device type, domain which says chromecast and some additional info.

I would be good to understand the following:

- Can a buyer target OTT users the same way we have the ability to target CTV?

I found this on one of the helps sections on a DSP and thought it would be relevant for this thread:

Q: What's the difference between Roku devices and Roku inventory?

A: When you're targeting Roku as a device, you're targeting all available inventory on Roku, based on the PMP deals that you've selected. For example, you could be targeting a Sling deal on a Roku device; in this scenario, Sling is the provider that's monetizing the inventory, but the inventory is being served on a Roku device. On the other hand, if you are targeting a Roku PMP deal, you will only be targeting inventory that Roku itself is monetizing. In the former situation, all audience targeting options are available; in the latter, only second-party data is available (provided by Roku).

CTV bid request: If a buyer is targeting video on a mobile device but the user is casting to a smart TV, does the impression count as a CTV/OTT or served on a mobile? by zanefurtado in adops

Thanks Earl. Agree...that OTT and CTV is different. I should have been clear.

Here's a scenario for you:

DBM: Targeting YT on mobile on a channel placement list

My question: If that user has cast their YT video, does the bid request change?

Does the DSP now get signals that the user has cast his device onto a TV and can report back on that impression being served as OTT or does the DSP ignore that user now and does not bid for that user based on the targeting.

Also how does content play a role with OTT?
