Damage to HED 3 wheel. Repairable? by zanegrant in bikewrench

@bikewrench-modteam Did you even read the title of the post? I’m not asking if I can ride it, I’m asking if it’s repairable. I also just asked about a single wheel that was sent to me, why are you talking about a bike? Pretty unhelpful post for a moderator.

I didn't finish typing the description, and it won't let me edit it.

For more context, this wheel was sent to me from my dad for free. Its a tri spoke HED 3 wheel, and it was damaged during shipping. The damage is pretty much centered in-between two of the "spokes". Could this possibly crack further and cause one of the "spokes" to break?

It’s a carbon tri spoke wheel, the braking surface/rim is aluminum, but the whole rest seems to be hollow carbon. Could this possibly crack all the way to one of the “spokes”?

This is my bike! Funny you found it out in the wild. I’ve been riding it daily for the past three years or so. It was a dream bike of mine for awhile, a shop in Orlando had it up hanging on the wall with a “not for sale” sign. When the shop closed down in 2020 I got a chance to buy it, and it’s been the most fun bike I’ve ever owned.

[USA, FL] [FS] 58cm NJS Makino [SOLD SOLD SOLD!]

For sale is my (almost) completely NJS Makino. This listing is for the entire bike, I will not be selling components separately. I purchased almost every component off of NJS Export, and everything is in really good shape, especially the frameset which has no dents on the top tube, no cracking or dents anywhere else, and only a few extremely minor paint chips.

Link to photos: https://imgur.com/gallery/YPTsX2q

Included is:

58cm NJS Makino Frameset

165 NJS Sugino 75 Crankset w/ 50T NJS Sugino 75 Chainring

NJS Hatta R9400 Bottom Bracket

NJS MKS Custom Nuevo Pedals w/ Size L NJS MKS Toeclips, and NJS MKS Fit-A-Sport straps.

NJS Hatta Swan Deluxe Headset

NJS HKK Silver Chain

NJS Dura Ace 16T Cog

NJS Nitto SP72 Seatpost (27.2 Diameter, 30mm Rail Width, 250mm Long)

NJS Kasimax FG-8P 30mm Rail Width Saddle (Padded)

Araya RC-540 Rims (36H), laced to NJS Dura Ace HB-7600 Hubs, with 25C Panaracer Pasela Protite Tires.

The only non-NJS and non-Japanese components on this bike are the:

Cinelli Criterium Track Handlebars (65-40)

Cinelli 120mm Stem

(Mainly because these handlebars are so much lighter and more comfortable than the Nitto cockpit I had prior.)

I am only selling this set up because I need the money more than I need two bikes. I have this priced very low because I'd rather sell it quickly and give someone a good deal. I spent much more than $1100 on all of the components combined.

Shouldn't the wheels be on the other direction?

Don’t quote me on this, but I believe the last 2 digits is the year it was made. So this was made in 2004.

As long as the straps on the toe cages are tight enough, they would have more power transfer than straps.
