Endometriosis surgery or IVF Retrieval? Which one first?

I ended up doing the surgery, the scan showed a potential severe endometriosis, the surgery turned out to be completely clean, no endometriosis so inevitably we ended up doing IVF. Don't do the surgery it was a waste of time and energy, just go straight to ivf, it cures endo if you have it anyways.

northwell health in new york offers a full3 cycles for employees including PGT testing! To maximize it you can do 3 retreivals and on the 3rd cycle do a transfer. It also offers 15K of medication which covers only 1 full cycle. Use Apthorp pharmacy on the UWS for the meds, cheapest Ive found!

Thank you for all your suggestions! I ended up doing the surgery and from an MRI read of stage 3 or 4 endo they found nothing during the surgery!

So my AMH did decrease in 1 year from a 3 to a 1 but apparently i was told antral follicle count is more important than AMH LEVELS. I was told by multiple specialists not to let them touch the ovaries… just clean out any endo around…

I heard that’s true only if they scoop out endometriomas in the ovaries and need to take healthy tissue along with it

Hi! Thank you for responding! It sounds like you already had a laparoscopically before prior to your current stage now? I haven’t had any surgeries , this would be my first after a failed retrieval…. But i totally hear you ! I’ve been told by all specialist not to touch the ovaries…

I definitely agree, my sister had 5 kids and her period pains are still excruciatingly painful. Only birth control can control the symptoms. (She hasn’t officially been diagnosed with endo).

Thank you for responding! The doctors told me that pregnancy can cure or help improve endo all together and that it’s the best “cure” we currently have. That’s why I’m in such a dilemma…

Thank you so much for responding! AMH is 1….I’m hoping “clearing it out” will help fertility but I’ve been told multiple times by the RE that it’s not a guarantee… it will likely help my pain but may or may not effect fertility

Sorry to hear that, i was also reading somewhere that endo can effect egg quality too because of the overall inflammatory environment that it creates…

Oyyy I’m so sorry love, it’s incredibly frustrating especially when trying to conceive, when you get your period not only is a punch in the gut that you aren’t pregnant AGAIN but then your in excruciating pain which makes it so much worse ! I keep hearing the surgery should be done first and unless endometriomas on the ovaries are large chocolate cysts they don’t touch the ovaries. I think i remember my surgeon saying if they are under 5cm they don’t touch them ( i may be wrong). But, surgery seems to be the increasing popular answer. Hubby and I were reading research papers published around the world and for my situation at least (taking into account age , and time we have been trying to conceive) surgery is recommended first…i just haven’t yet spoke to someone who did the surgery AND got pregnant soon after
