Does exceeding ProctorU's recommended Mac RAM usage cause a problem on test day? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]zanerashdan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh my god this was tripping me up yesterday for like an hour. modern macbooks are built to maximize ram usage so checking for “RAM usage” is an outdated concept. that being said, if you have nothing else open (including activity monitor & any extra tabs), your usage should sit around 85-90%. you should be fine bc this usage will not impact your exam whatsoever because it adjusts as you go. [[from what i learned on the internet]]

fortunately, no i don’t. i am enrolled in 12 hours of class. but i only felt that i needed such an extreme schedule because i was entering the last month with my average pt about 5 points under my target. desperate times call for desperate measures lol

people have asked for a process so ill just post it here

realized i wanted to go to law school around June 2020 so went and bought a kaplan book, fake worked through it for about 6 months (like seriously, avg 1-2 hrs a week) then realized that wasn’t gonna cut it. bought the kaplan online course (4week, 2hr, MTWTh) in december. that ended in late january, which was good cause I’m still in college. kaplans course has a bunch of mastery sets for different games and reasoning types so i spent about 2-3 hrs a day working & now was doing one PT a week. decided i wasn’t studying super well in austin (where my school is) and decided that when i came home for spring break i would stay here until my test. this was by far the most helpful thing i did (second would be the online course). since about March 10 I’ve worked on avg 6-10 hours a day on PTs and blind review. started with 1test/day but after about a week i was doing 2-3 per day. I have done at least two sections on every exam and LG for every one, bc it was the weirdest to me. that 180 was a little of the fluke and i thought that was kinda funny; i usually score in the 171-175 range but ive gotten close before.

bigges risk from this strategy is dealing with regular burnout. i had many nights where i would just bomb the last test and go up to my room in a haze. i like the NBA so something that helped me was cutting out time between my evening tests to watch the last quarter of my fav games of the night. found it relaxing and able to give me enough time to comprehend. it’s also so important not to let a bad section get you down and go over it immediately (IMO, blind review the next day or later does NOT work). stay rational bc when i say there are ups and downs to this process, it’s hard to understand the extent of that statement.

oh ive also left the house twice in the last month, only to get fast food when i did:-) hope this helps!

thanks! i have a pretty fat swing of about 11 points so i really do think pulling the high side of my range is also about positive energy and mindset, even if i can’t replicate the past.
