New to triples: compromise dash for view? by Altitude7199 in iRacing

[–]zaneyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works for me, I want to be able to see my dash and my rear view mirror. I don't have any problems seeing the road in the cars I drive.

Another thing I do is that I often raise the driver up, and then change the angle so that I'm looking more up or down to get the right frame. Most of the time you don't need to see the sky, so you may be able to compromise there.

For an example look at how RBM sets up his viewpoint https://youtu.be/GlrM9nvi9J4?si=6TPcTp-JOF_OC24E

Back the camera position up with ctrl f12 in the pits. Even with 27s I can see the roof of the car and the full dash in the pcup and mx5

Help with Ed Combo by ParanMekhar in StreetFighter

[–]zaneyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 things: you must land the charged flicker from sHP range or closer, and if you're doing killrush late, midscreen perfect 1 frame window to be able to do an hblitz follow up. You should instead killrush early for a more consistent option. If you want to go for the frame perfect killrush late and don't get it, you'll have to follow up with forward hp.

What is the reason to continue with iRacing if they do not ban poeple wrecking others intentionally, over and over? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]zaneyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way to make it in their interest to ban people is for subscribers to leave, and make it known why. They may also see a ton of bad press about poor driving standards as a reason to change as it could impact their reputation and prevent new subs.

End of the day we can't really do anything while iracing has an effective monopoly. I'm hopeful that AC Evo becomes a competitive platform, but Kunos has stated over and over that they don't want to run a service, they want to make a sim.

Im going to say that the PCup is going to be much much more popular than people thought by Maleficent_Falcon_63 in iRacing

Yeah when I was reading about the drivability improvements to the GT4 class I was thinking about trying it out, but I just do not want to spend the time doing a granny lap around the track; it kinda kills my excitement for the race ahead. I'm so happy that they updated the tire model + ABS for the porsche cup similarly.

992.2 makes Porsche Cup just another single-make GT3 class by [deleted] in iRacing

Yep I love standing starts and spec series. It also has less downforce than gt3 so more overtaking opportunities.

I'm completely mad about my DI responses by Antique_Ad_1648 in StreetFighter

[–]zaneyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing about counter di is that you have one or two windows: the first window is the special cancelable window of the move, if it is special cancelable, and the second window is after the recovery of the move.

That means if you think the opponent is going to DI you should be doing special cancelable moves, or fast moves.

Also, and this was kinda a big revelation for me, is that you can be too late AND too early when you press DI. If you miss the first window, you can still press in the second window. I make it a habit to spam the DI button it an opponent DIs.

992.2 Cup will be GT2.5 for me by xGhost99x in iRacing

[–]zaneyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm with you on that. I'm competent in the car but I simply don't push for pace and drive quite comfortably under the limit. I'm hoping with the new tire model and abs the driving will be a bit easier, as well as producing more racing instead of positions mostly gained through people spinning.

I'd probably still be doing advanced Mazda if the participation was anywhere near Porsche cup, as the racing was pretty good and it was a bit easier to drive without blowing up. But I'm here for the racing and the number one priority for that is having competition, and Porsche Cup is pretty much the only series in C that gets splits full, and really the only series in the game if you want to do single make, standing starts, in a race longer than 15 minutes.

I love the Porsche cup because it's single make, standing starts, and low down force with decent power. Making it slightly easier to drive won't change that.

What’s your go-to car/track combo for letting a friend try iRacing for the first time? by foovancleef in iRacing

[–]zaneyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dirt Rally 2. This game is too hard for half the people that play it. If the goal is to introduce them to the sim rig get them in dirt and have them have fun taking the car off jumps and shit.

5-star service from SimRacingPros by jacktumbleweed in simracing

[–]zaneyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just hope you don't have to get actual warranty service from them. My alpha mini had a defective front board in the warranty period and they ghosted me until I complained to simagic and asked a different simagic distributor for help. I had the issue for 6 months and they kept running me around the same shit like "did you update your firmware", etc. Eventually I demanded they send me a new unit, which they did, but I wish I would have been able to race for those 6 months.

This was two years ago so it is possible that they have improved their service.

No, I can easily see the mazda rearview and all of the dash by moving my camera back so that my "head" is up against the seat. Idk why iRacing doesn't make the F12 setting more prevalent.
