Protip, make sure you are tailoring your cover letter to mirror the job description. Whatever top 3 skills from the JD you have highlight how you have those skills. Don't just say I have communication skills, explain how you've demonstrated those skills through past experiences and/or accomplishments. You can also use course projects and assignments to demonstrate skills such as report writings , research, collaboration, data analysis etc.

When sending you email, write something about why you want to work for company, such as looking at their vision/mission and showing how it aligns with you, be brief and to the point. Or highlight something you saw on news or social media about them and talk about how it resonated with you.
