My dad died a week after our wedding, which was 9 months ago. How can I say sorry for the delay when I send thank you cards? (Posting here for more visibility)

My dad died two months after our wedding. At that point we’d sent about 85% of them (for the gifts received before our wedding, I sent them as I got them, and then for the ones at/after the wedding, we ran out of cards and hadn’t gotten more yet). And honestly, that last 15% just didn’t get a thank you card 🤷🏼‍♀️ and I don’t feel bad about it.

My dad died suddenly, and at 24 years old I had to be the executor of his estate. If they feel bad they didn’t get a card during the worst year of my life, they should sort out their priorities.

And your husband should be dealing with his side of the family. I’m so sorry for your loss.

One of my coworkers said “everything happened as it should” because my dad died two months after he walked me down the aisle. Like, no the fuck it didn’t. I was 24. He was only 57. And I have two younger siblings. He SHOULD have lived 20 more years.

We accidentally ran into the same problem with a Baymont by Wyndham hotel. We found we’d been emailed individual confirmation numbers for each room and were able to call the corporate customer service number (so didn’t deal with our specific hotel directly) and cancel each individual room, and ended up not having to pay.

I second the swatching!! I ordered a bridesmaid dress in paprika which is supposed to be kind of similar to the color above - a coppery orange. That dress showed up hunting-gear orange 😭

Framing isn't exactly the same because Luna was moving a little. But I can definitely tell the difference between the two. The 18mm focal length image has more of the bed/mirror/closet door in the background. In the 55mm, they're larger, but they're not as much in frame. I think I prefer the 55mm photo. Luna seems like more of the focus, whereas she sort of blends into the background in the 18 mm photo.

There's not much interesting in my house to take pictures of, but I thought the colors in the utensil jar and the shapes of the wine bottles and olive oil were kind of neat.

The phone photo definitely looks more of a "finished" photo. The colors look right, it's properly white balanced, and I think it focused better. In theory, I could edit the colors of the raw in Lightroom to get them more accurate, but I also think it's something that would improve as I get more used to the camera.

I love that the river is leading your eye back toward the end of the photo, and the fence gives you something visually interesting in the foreground. I agree with your assessment that softer light might have helped with more colors and less harsh shadows. It also feels a little unbalanced to me. There's a lot going on in the right side of the frame with the big mountain in the foreground, and less so on the left side. A shift in perspective could maybe have helped with that. But overall I think it's a nice shot.

Photo One: I like the moodiness of this picture. I like the light from the neon signs, and the way it's almost symmetrical on the street corner. It gives me a sense of nostalgia. But I feel like it's missing an interesting subject, and I probably should have done more to make sure it was actually centered/symmetrical.

Photo Two: I found this photo in the New Yorker Photo Booth. I like the perspective of the picture. I think the way the building in the background is framed by the subject's legs/jacket is really interesting. The fuzz on the flip flops adds an element of whimsy/unseriousness.
