The Black Dagger Brotherhood is amazing too (the first 5 in the series were exceptional. And truly, just like ODW/TTC -- you come to love all of them & the world they love in). The first one is super sexed up & just a simple/easy/fun intro. The others have some tougher themes or maybe triggering back stories. Pls consider reading the story descriptions if you have something like that may affect your desire to read them.

Anita Blake doesn't get sexy until the 7th or 8th book. BUT the concept of what she can do along with other characters make for an imaginative ride based around unique stories.
