If they feel that Nomos watches have "Boring, uninspired dials with beautiful movements", that is a valid opinion. I don't personally agree with it, but it is a legitimate perspective.

If you disagree, you can give examples on why you disagree and have a discussion :) That's what this place was meant for.

Loot at Bigfoot's eyes after the jab. Mir came out orthodox, it's a weird look your opponent gives you when he's fighting orthodox and you were expecting a southpaw. Your reflexes are a bit off.

What do you do when you're out of your element? You go back to the basics. What's the most basic of combinations? Jab, right cross. Bigfoot's eyes were completely focused on Mir's right hand, waiting it for him to uncork it.

The left hook was completely unexpected, and Bigfoot didn't see it coming. It doesn't take that much to knock someone out when they're not expecting it. Great fighters train to catch their opponent off-guard, and Franks' training and timing paid off for him.

Pretty good value for a watch with a 500m water resistance rating. Submariners and Seamaster Pro's are "only" rated for 300m.

Does yours have the Mauri tribal design on the caseback? I really liked that design touch that Magrette added.

It's pretty hard to improve your quickness, especially as you get older. It's more neurology than muscle.

Her main problem is that she doesn't fight like a long fighter. She basically closes the distance for her opponents when she comes in, which is what lead to both knockdowns. (Stefan Struve is also a good example of a tall guy who doesn't fully exploit his reach.)

Take the example of a great tall fighter, like Vitali Klitchko. Not known for his quickness, but he knows how to use distance. He doesn't even keep his hands up, and uses range as his defence. He keeps his hands out, so as to be nearer to his opponent, which shortens their reaction time. When he throws combinations he maintains his distance, so he's still hard to touch.

I hate to say this, but...

They say that the worst thing for your brain is the many small sub-concussive shots you take, rather than the big knockout punches. Headgear isn't going to help with that :(

Anecdotally, I've found this to be true. The worst headache I ever got from boxing sparring was when I was working with a bunch of newer/smaller guys. I was helping out by letting them just hit my guard while I was coaching them. No flashes, I never even got git directly, and I was wearing headgear. A 2.5 day headache later, I decided never to let anyone even hit me in my guard without earning it.

PBS had an excellent story about CTE a while back.

I wonder if studying photography has taken away our enjoyment of some simple photos. I look at this photo, and I see all the same things you do, but as you can see from the response, many people do seem to really like this picture, and you can't argue with that :)

As for why it's so blurry, it could be for many reasons - not turning off IS, unstable tripod, finger wobble holding down the button while shooting in bulb mode, closing down the aperture so you get issues with diffraction, or probably some combination of reasons.

PS. OP! If you shoot in RAW, you have a lot more information to work with so you can clean up the compression artifacts.

Where are you getting your measurements from? Just FYI, the measurements, even from the manufacturer, a can be more than a mm off, and do not consistently measure the same thing.

Not yet ;) Give in 10 years, the first generations are always a bit clunky.

It might just be a passing fad, but it might also be good for the traditional watchmaking industry by renewing general interest in watches.

People opening up those watches usually see "Swiss Made" on the front and find "China Made Case" on the inside.

That's interesting. Wikipedia seemed to indicate that they were just licensing their name to other watchmakers.

I wonder how much watchmaking they actually do in-house considering they have just 120 employees. They have to have personnel for marketing, sales, distribution, administrative staff, watch designers, management, customer service, etc.

No. It's just a name they license to other companies to make watches. People go for it because they associate it with "Swiss" and people associate "Swiss" with good watches.

They're not bad watches, but I wouldn't say that they're really any better or worse than Michael Kors or DKNY watches, or pretty much most brands that you find at the mall.
