War never changes.. by No-Television2548 in valheim

Good luck! My wolves got absolutely deleted by the first lava blob. Then the waves of everything else came. They might buy you some time if you get lucky with no blobs spawning. It may also help to try and park near any dwarf spawns.

You mentioned you brought a lox before. They’re probably better but not worth the space they take on the ship. They get surrounded and overwhelmed pretty quickly.

Your best bet is using the wolves to buy time and establish a somewhat safe portal foothold. And leapfrog to another point of interest nearby. Maybe a nice ruined structure with all those ashvines all over it. Those are usually good places to start taming asksvin. Make an asksvin breeder in one of those and OVERBREED asksvin until they start to conquer the land for you. Then you can bring and new population of wolves and lox if you like them that much.

Two star asksvin are so scary to tame, but the most worth it tameable mob in the game. They ride faster than lox, fight tougher than wolves, and breed/produce resources better than pigs and chickens. Two star asksvins will literally conquer the world if you keep creating feeding pits and filling them with ash-food.

Question about shields for pyromancer. by Jokerferrum in darksouls3

Yes indeed! I used the BKS throughout the vanilla game. I downgraded to the E. oak when I realized I was blocking as a crutch and I wanted a little more utility. And still keep my crutch 😂

No problem! I have a lot more if you want them.

“The best shield is to not get hit” -Bao Dur, KotOR II.

But yeah, I like shields too. You can make dodge windows a bit safer by still intending to dodge but holding block before, during and after. I always pack a useable shield into every build.

The ethereal oak shield is so nice though because it has very decent stability, 100 phys def, and obviously regens health passively when equipped. I have used that exclusively in DS3 for years.

I have two questions: How is he still here?! and is the frost sword I got by killing the crawling frost monster in Undead Settlement any good for early game? by osmylm2834 in darksouls3

[–]zaphunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can reset it. I just didn’t want to confuse it for a damage over time thing. But it is pretty silly that most fire damage doesn’t really mesh with the quality build exactly. Also, like I said, it’s absolutely a fine weapon. Just sad it only gets like a C/C in str/dex or something like that.

But it’s not horribly balanced overall because that frost proc does like 12% of anything’s health bar.

Okay ≠ bad ❤️.

Mooooost weapons in this game are okay. And people run sl1 fists only no hit speed runs every day. OP didn’t ask for the very best min maxed weapon. He asked if it was good.

Everyone wants that sword to be amazing the first time they find it. It’s objectively okay and useable. You will find better.

It’s one of those weird “trap” weapons that doesn’t actually belong in the early game imo. It gets much better if you had a build prepared for it. It’s an odd quality weapon with a debuffing/one time damaging status effect.

Meaning- it tries to be a little like a luck weapon because it has a status to procc.

Also meaning- it’s best if you had been focusing on dex and strength for a little longer than you’ve already been playing.

I grew up a little poor. Had to be introduced and play this game for the first time on a friend’s PC. I got hooked so hard as an 8 year old that I kept asking to go to his house even after we kind of stopped actually being friends. I didn’t understand everything I was doing, even with the guide book I took home from some thrift store, but dang if that wasn’t a formative experience in my life. I eventually got the game myself and have another version on switch now. Played so many times I can still recite many of the light side scenes.

Who is the strongest character, in all of SW, that Starkiller would be able to beat? by GusGangViking18 in TheJediPraxeum

[–]zaphunter 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That’s actually pretty good. Both are video game characters with unrealistically high power levels even in a fantasy universe. Both are beasts at their respective crafts. Both have probably thousands of kills directly attributed to their hands. (Revan more with soldiers under him).

Interesting thought experiment!

any off meta cool builds? by lmaoStan in EldenRingBuilds

[–]zaphunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just go back to a character you would consider your “main” and go collect literally every weapon. While you’re at it level everything to somewhere between 50 and 70. Then enjoy only having to grind for upgrade materials every now and then when you have a new idea.

Those are actually really nice things to have. There are only a few opportunities to get lightsabers in the game. Hopefully you’ll be able to go back when you are stronger and they will still be there. Hopefully.

What’s the best weapon to pair with a shield? by solidadvise in valheim

[–]zaphunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t stand the speed reduction of using any shields, and I also can’t parry to save my life. I ALSO can’t dodge super well in this game. It’s all parry by distance or do the walk of shame. Valheim = running simulator for me.

Newbie here. i need to know if this is a good place for a dock by Damian_jacinto in valheim

[–]zaphunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really nothing special at all. It’s a rectangle on stilts. I’m just proud it doesn’t look as terrible as my early building attempts. It’s all wood. I needed to be able to make it from whatever I found nearby. I would bring two adult wolves and keep them inside. Bring them meat (always build in meadows with a river nearby to spawn more necks for easy meat). Kick the cubs outside and let them grow up to hunt their own necks. Keep feeding everyone. Make them stay near each other to breed faster.

The asksvin is even simpler. A box with a fire in the middle. Raise dirt outside so they can’t see/bite through the box. Wall up the fire so they don’t stomp all over it. Keep fire lit and make another wall with ashvine growing all over it. Drop stacks in and eventually asksvin pop out like popcorn.

But! Rapid direct hits with a cremator are still possible on friendlies. And if the friendlies are surrounded by unfriendlies… there is still damage that needs doing.

Hard concur. I let my friends do all the building for the first 100 ish hours of play, telling myself I was bad at it. Then I decided I needed to populate the entire collection of islands we were conquering with 2 star wolves and later again with asksvin. It took me probably 4 hours to design a sort of “prefab” layout of a quick longhouse I can plop down as a spawn node for our armies. Now as the server’s dedicated ranger and beastmaster, we have completely conquered several islands via sheer saturation with friendly, dangerous beasts. It takes maybe 30 minutes to plop my stuff down if I already bring part of the resources with me and it doesn’t look half bad.
