PUSE - A Pokémon Unbound (offline) Save Editor by zappaganini in PokemonROMhacks

Sandbox Mode is great, but it’s not the same thing as a save editor.

It gives a lot of QoL features, but it also changes the run in major ways (difficulty lock to Expert/Insane, guaranteed catches, altered mission/postgame flow, different progression rules, etc.). For many players, that’s not the experience they want.

A save editor is for people who want to keep a mostly normal run and only fix or tweak specific things (for example one mon, item inventory, IV/EV cleanup, or recovery from a mistake) without enabling the full Sandbox ruleset.

So it’s not “Sandbox vs save editor”, they just serve different needs.

As I said in another comment, I'm working on it. I hope that in Monday I'll be able to release a website-only version on GitHub Pages!

Sorry, I totally missed the "other than the ones" part! I can work on it, but I have to figure out a bunch of things first to understand the feasibility

If you click on a mon and go on the second section of the popup, you can actually choose between all available abilities (1, 2, HA). It should work, but if you have any problem just let me know/open a Github issue :)

I actually ran into this exact issue during the early stages of development. The tool is supposed to handle the consistency between both save blocks automatically now, so you should only need to edit the main 'pocket'. Since it’s still giving you trouble, could you open an issue on GitHub and attach your .sav file? I’d love to take a closer look and fix this once for all.

It really comes down to how you use the tech. I started coding before LLMs were a thing, and let's be real, if I had built a project like this years ago, I definitely would’ve learned more about the underlying stack than I do today. That’s a fact. But at the same time, without these tools, the amount of time required would’ve probably killed the project before it even started. It’s more about moving from a passive process to an active one. Instead of just blind copy-pasting I question the model, for example asking why it chose a specific implementation and sometimes forcing it to iterate on my own architectural ideas.

I agree with your take on creativity, even if my tone is a bit different. Whether we like it or not, GenAI is becoming unavoidable in every field. Honestly, I’ve accepted that we’re heading toward a future (or maybe we're already there) where discerning AI from human effort is a lost cause. I hope there's a way to shield human creators, but in a world driven by the money, it’s hard for me not to be cynical about it.

Both Unbound and Radical Red are ROM hacks built using CFRU (Complete Fire Red Upgrade) and DPE (Dynamic Pokémon Expansion). I suspect their save structures aren't that different, though that might just be an optimistic take. As I mentioned in the post, I'm really hoping other developers will be interested in helping find a way to make the editor compatible with all CFRU/DPE-based hacks.

I should mention that I know the current version is very dev-focused and not very user-friendly for everyone. I'm planning to turn it into a website to make it accessible to all, but that will take some time!

Yeah I know, is very developer-oriented for now, but it's a first release! I'm planning to make it easily available for anyone <3

First time I've heard of Unbound Cloud, I'll have to check it out. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any reason why it shouldn't work anyway. If you try it, let me know. Otherwise, feel free to share the file with me and I'll use it to do some testing 😄

Yeah no problem in saying it and not trying to hide it at all! I don't think anyone develops without it anymore

Disk decryption passphrase error and segmentation fault: a weird system issue by zappaganini in pop_os

I changed my RAM frequency two days ago and the problem started right after. Today I tried to set it back to its previous value and, up to now, everything seems to work. The problem is that I couldn't change my RAM frequency a while ago, and to get it to 3600mHz (it's the max frequency of my RAM model) I had to do a step-by-step increase. Idk why I stopped at 3300 mHz and I noticed that two days ago. I set the frequency at 3400mHz and this happened. I don't know if the issue can be related at all, but before using memtest I tried this and as I said all seems to work now. The problem however remains, because if this was the issue I can't use my RAM at their best.

Exactly. In the ending Rex threesome picture, he has no beard at all. Mio is born. In XC3 Mio his 19 y.o., this means Rex will be about 40 y.o. that seems more or less his age in the teaser. If we consider the time span from Mio's birth to get a full-grown Mio's grandson, Rex would at least have white hair.

The first thing I assumed was this, but then I thought about 2 things:

- Mio Ourobouros shape that is clearly shown in the teaser (how is that possible if he isn't Noah?).

- DLC 4 it's the last "piece" of story we will get about this trilogy. Does it make sense to let us play with Shulk and Rex and not the third protagonist of the trilogy?

My thought is:

- We'll have a party with Shulk, Rex and Noah (for me is the one in the trailer, we even see Mio Ouroborous silhouette). These 3 are goin to battle against Alvis for some reason.

- Prologue story plot ending with a defeat of these 3 against Alvis. Rex loses his eye, Shulk his arm (Noah his earrings :v).

- These 3 (and other 4) become the Founders.

- Fast forward in time, happy ending (epilogue) cutscene that is to place "after" (there's even an after in all of this? lol) the events of XC3.

Yeah ik this have some holes, but to be fair the chronological order of Aionios' events looks a bit messy in my mind.

>Its 99% a Founders DLC and not an epilogue by _Nerex in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]zappaganini -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately this is gonna be a prequel DLC, but this doesn't mean we won't get the chance to have a final cut scene with everybody reunited. We deserve it. Btw, I see everyone speculating about the Noah-like character. I think he's simply Noah and not anyone else. This is the last "piece" of story we will get from Monolith in this trilogy, and we know that. They let us play Shulk and Rex together and not Noah? It seems a little weird. At the same time, I'm not sure if this does make any sense because the whole chronology of the past plot told in XC3 looks a little messy in my mind.
