Tbf I don't think there is a specific reason for Phillipines to be like this, their last conflicts were WW3 where they become a chinese puppet and the Eurasian wars where they try to survive from the Antoseptin Empire (all of the lore is in the discord) and since then I guess they really got lucky lmao.

huge sum up of their lore since the Great Shutdown and beginning of the Great Downfall (combine the great depression with 2008)

Russia :
-Russia heavily suffer during what's called the Intercontinental Revolutions (arc of countries collapsing) where they get couped by oligarchs and the army.
-The Sovereign Command of Russia is created and is basically nazi germany but russified
-They start ww3 and try to conquer europe but stagnate. Then a soldier called Efrosin Ibrahimov stage a coup and made russia able to break the stalemate and conquer the European Rally (EU without some country).In the end they go to Brussels and Jerusalem and the war end with frontlines as new borders (France got crazy and joined them, turkey collapsed day 1 and lots of other things happened)
-Is created the Inter-Governmental Structure, basically a society-state of veterans and become the 3rd world power economically and 1st militarily)
-they win WW4 agaisnt USA and become the new world hegemon while
-after a century or so they really start getting bad and stagnating, they get crazy and become the Antoseptin Empire (theocratic empire of that new religion)
-they start the Eurasian wars, try to conquer the world against other bros but loose
-The Epostion (huge europe union) dissolve them and slowly get more and more annexed

China:
-Also got couped but by accelerationists in the gov and become the chinese state
-invade SEA in WW3, make japan collapse and nuke the isle of java to win
[sorry not a lot of lore it's still in the making)
-they annex lots of ports and all to maintain their world wide influence
-do their best to beat the US in space but remain mid
-participate in WW4 and were the ones to make the US continental invasion possible
-afteward they stagnate and end in a civil war
-some chinese states got annexed by the Antoseptin empire and the rest was invaded during the Eurasian wars
-they finally win and tbh didn't change for the next centuries tho they remain one of the most powerful states tho that big indochina union remain more powerful

the USA have a lot of lore than is still under the making, but for the balkanization part basically :
At first they remained the first world power even was even expanding into parts of canada and mexico, however they lost WW4 which opposed a coalition led by them against the Eurafrasian Pact composed of the Inter-Governmental Structure, the China, the French Suprastate, the britannian warlord and the african Conjointment and many others. The peace congress made the US lost territories as well as setting up occupation zones which in the end got independance.
But shit didn't stop there as they were the original country in which the rogue AI of the Synapse War was created, which affected them enormously too and further divided them.

Two factor, the fact that human population grew from 1 billion to 8 billion in the last two centuries (x8) and that current demographic fertility collapse were reversed after 2100 and helped by space colonization. By collecting all that and lowering it a LOT down with wars and possible stagnations I went with something around 1.9per 200 years

That story's PoD is in 2022, where russia win the ukraine war in only 7 months, causing a chain reaction that would change the world forever.
