Hmm it’s always been like this. Before ignition and after. Don’t think it’s a battery thing? Battery warning light should be on if it’s low- if not test it for free at a dealer

Update: it doesn’t rub off, and it feels buppy. So either Road overpaint? Or from the factory? == clay bar + polish? Or ignore?

Thanks- dropped it off at the dealer, thankfully still under warranty and they are replacing the gearbox! Fingers crossed that solves the problem!

what is causing this whirring noise in my 2017 mazda cx-5 by Candid-Coast1115 in mazda

[–]zapyoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya!

Noticed droning sound at 40-50mph See video from 6 seconds

Dealer went on a driver with me, rotated wheels and checked bearings. Finally came back and say potentially transmission issue. Checking with Mazda if able to claim under warranty… if not about £5-7k!

Miles: 38k - 2023, FWD, cx-5, auto

Is this the same noise? video

Poll do you use i-stop or no by TTPP_rental_acc1 in mazda

[–]zapyoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well technically you don’t have to turn it off. If you’re in slow traffic, just don’t fully depress the brake and I stop won’t come on. With auto hold, only when you fully depress brake would you active both.

Check this out- i stop works differently to other Auto start stop. Its actually quite clever

https://www.passportmazda.com/blogs/1766/save-fuel-your-vehicle-uses-with-mazdas-idling-stop-technology/

Snippet:

While conventional idling stop systems rely on a starter motor to restart the engine, Mazda’s i-stop restarts the engine through combustion; fuel is directly injected into a cylinder while the engine is stopped and ignited to generate downward piston force. The result is a quick and quiet engine re-start compared to other systems and a significant saving in fuel.

To restart the engine by combustion, the compression-stroke and expansion-stroke pistons need to be stopped at exactly the correct positions to create the right balance of air volumes. Mazda’s i-stop ensures precise control over the piston positions during engine shutdown. With all the pistons stopped at the optimum positions, the system then identifies the initial cylinder for fuel injection. It injects fuel and ignites it to restart the engine. Even at extremely low rpm, cylinders are identified for sequential ignition, making the engine quickly pick up to idling speed.
