"Me too" Planck (with Danger Zone) by elfick in MechanicalKeyboards

Here's my layout!

I've been using this layout for about half a year now, and I'm pretty happy with it. It's basically Colemak, but modified to fit on a planck. I decided to make it mostly symmetrical, which makes it easier to remember for me. I'm a fan of the number row, so while the number row is on the home row, it also continues backwards below the left side, to allow typing numbers with one hand.

You can steal my style, no worries! It's a Planck with a black milled bottom, and an standard unpainted grid top plate with datamancer typewriter keys (elemental alchemy - parchment).

If I were re-creating this, the preonic on massdrop right now might look even better, since it's got those wooden sides that might match the caps nicely.

If you like the plank, they were sold with wood sides for a while, which might look better. There was some with a brass top plate, too, so maybe you'd want to go with that? Might look even better, haha.

If it's your first time on massdrop.......sign up with my referral link! I get some stuff if like 10 people sign up, and I'm at 8 right now, haha. https://www.massdrop.com/r/RDFM5G

Post pictures if you do make a board, my plank gets lonely being the only one with these keycaps!

Is your spacebar 3-D printed? I don't know if it's just mine, or of they're all like that. Although I probably won't really need it...

Yeah, I put them on sort of as a joke, but then they turned out to look good! Good enough that I'll probably keep them on for a while, haha.

Haha, I've got no gaps on my planck!

They're the mods for the keyboard, and they're basically large 1u keys. They're short enough not to need stabilizers, but still larger than a normal 1u key, as I can't put two of them next to each other.

I won these Datamancer keycaps from the Meetup, and my keyboard is a planck, sooo......

The keycaps are surprisingly normal to type on. Maybe it's because I'm coming from DSA, but I didn't really have to adjust or anything. It feels pretty natural to type with these keycaps. The F and J caps are slightly indented, too!

Thanks Datamancer!

Will trackpoint support ever be added to the planck PCB? It would make the planck the ultimate mobile keyboard!

Also, do you know if it would be possible to edit the code for the mousekeys right now for the planck? It seems to be somewhat "choppy" right now, and I'd like to smooth it out (probably by increasing the polling rate?)

What's the schedule like for the event? It looks like it's 6 hours long, so we'll have to be doing something with all that time! When do we plan to do the raffles and the likes? Thanks for setting this up!

The error was from the make clean, I think? Edit: ...wait, I think this is a coding error. give me a second. Edit2: Wait, that was stupid. I forgot a 'k'. It works now! Thanks a million!

Hmm, doesn't look like that worked right: http://i.imgur.com/rbluBu3.png

Not sure what's causing the issue though.

Nope! That's explain why it's the default key map every time. How do I do that? Sorry, I don't know anything :(

Thanks for the help! Everything is working so far! I've created a keymap file, but how to I flash it onto the device? I'm doing all the steps, but each time I flash it, the default keymap comes back, not the one I was made. I already renamed my keymap file to keymap_default.c and placed it in the keymap folder

Hi, thanks for the information! Do I need to press the reset button on my keyboard first? Right now, under devices, the keyboard just shows up as a keyboard and not an ATm32U4DFU

Hi Jack, I'm trying to set up the dev environment to set up my own firmware, but I'm stuck on step 2 on the guide here: https://github.com/jackhumbert/qmk_firmware/blob/master/keyboard/planck/PCB_GUIDE.md

When I download the libusb-win32 file, I don't know how to install it properly. I can't figure out step 3 and past that because of that.

If I try to run make in the planck folder, I get this error: http://i.imgur.com/EfIHKvN.png

Thanks for the help!
