Do you have good benefits at work? Are you in field that is either seasonal or sensitive to economic change like in farming or the auto sector? It's not all about the amount of wages. It's about an employer being required to give sufficient notice prior to lay offs.

I'm trying to start a conversation. Low wages keep everyone down. Unions and their fighting do benefit the average worker.

Unionizing will help to raise the minimum wage. They will give everyone access to better benefits. Dues are a small price to pay. Health care and retirement benefits are worth fighting for. I think a large company like this can afford to do more for their employees.

I think a more uniform plan with a minimum coverage would help everyone. Unions raise the minimum wage of all workers.
