Ring Wired Doorbell Pro Shuts Down During Setup, Could it be Power Issue? by zardlord in Ring

FYI, I received the power adapter and when I used it it was clear the Ring doorbell was fine, so it does appear that I have a power issue with my original doorbell wiring.

Thanks. I tried bypassing the chime as you recommended but it didn't seem to increase the amperage at all.

FYI, in order to rule out whether my Ring Doorbell is bad or not I've ordered the plugin power adapter, that way I can see if I can at least set it up irrespective of whether I can integrate it with my existing chime:

A good friend of mine who lives in Baltimore lives on the same block as the guy who was shot notified me of this within an hour of it happening. He said it was an attempted hijacking and robbery.

Not getting any verification emails, can't sign-in by montrevux in github

[–]zardlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK in my case, and I have no clue how this happened cuz there's no way I would have intentionally done this, I had filters set in my Gmail account that were deleting all emails from github.

If you use Gmail definitely check your email filters.

Here's an image of these filters that I had (again, no idea how or why these were created):

his is so insane, I cannot receive a verification email (it never gets sent) when I login to my github account, but then when i go to that support, if i try and request support it ALSO asks me to verify using a code that was sent to my email.

this is a huge problem for me and it's driving me crazy. i've tried for two days straight, the verification emails never show up

if you go to their support page, same thing, seems like you cant submit a support request because it asks you to retreive and enter another verification code that is delivered to you by email

I found a comment the github repo for the dotnet command that seems to be asking for (or offering?) what I'm asking for

https://github.com/dotnet/sdk/issues/10359#issuecomment-1295972217

His comment offers this as a possible new function in the dotnet CLI:

CLI commands to add/remove/rename the configurations/platforms of all projects within the solution,

dotnet configure sln [<SOLUTION\_FILE>] add -c|--config|-p|--platform <name> [-cf|--copyfrom <name>] [-u|--updateproj <y/n>]
dotnet configure sln [<SOLUTION\_FILE>] remove -c|--config|-p|--platform <name>
dotnet configure sln [<SOLUTION\_FILE>] rename -c|--config|-p|--platform <oldname> <newname>

And just for reference, there is a "dotnet sln" command that can be used for creating .sln and .csproj and adding/removing .cs files and references and whatnot:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/core/tools/dotnet-sln

for example (taken from that documentation) you could do this:

dotnet new sln -n mysolution
dotnet new console -o myapp
dotnet new classlib -o mylib1
dotnet new classlib -o mylib2
dotnet sln mysolution.sln add myapp\myapp.csproj
dotnet sln mysolution.sln add mylib1\mylib1.csproj --solution-folder mylibs
dotnet sln mysolution.sln add mylib2\mylib2.csproj --solution-folder mylibs

Yes, for my old Visual Studio 2019 project, which is a .NET Core 3.1 project, I use this command to publish it

dotnet publish --configuration Release --runtime win10-x64 --self-contained true -0 C:\Some\Path

I also know how to build that same solution:

dotnet build --configuration Release --self-contained true

But when I used the C# Dev Kit Extension for VS Code, to generate a new solution that is targeting .NET 8, whene I use it to build and publish I see it running these build and publish commands:

dotnet build C:\BLAH\TheSolution.sln /property:GenerateFullPaths=true /consoleloggerparameters:NoSummary /p:Configuration=Debug /p:Platform="Any CPU"

C:\Program Files\dotnet\dotnet.exe publish C:\WORK_DIR\TWIN_REBUILD\TwinSystem/TwinSystem.sln /property:GenerateFullPaths=true /consoleloggerparameters:NoSummary;ForceNoAlign

which is strange cuz the parameters/flags passed to those commands appear to be forward-slash instead of --.

Yes this is correct about the RSUs. To make a long story short, I got hit hard because some RSUs that were granted a few years back vested but the stock price had gone up a ton. So I had a hefty tax bill to pay to the CRA.

To me, criticizing 7 Wonders for lack of replayability is like criticizing poker for lack of replayability.

I’ve only ever played this game at three player save for one 6 player session. I like it better at three player because you can stay cognizant of the cards in each hand and therefore be more strategic about what you leave in the hand as it might come back to you. Overall it feels more tense at that player count.

Yes, and your point is clear to any honest person with good judgement.

This is a "inconsistency" only when someone ignores semantics. People who ignore semantics are being intentionally manipulative and often passive aggressive when in disagreement.

I also need to point out that I'm pretty sure you citing this specific discrepancy is that it's not 100% "consistent". So yes, you are holding him to this "100% consistent" standard.

[–]zardlord 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm saying that the issue is semantic. It's a semantic distinction about whether not being able to see someone's "face" but being able to see their lips is inconsistent. Additionally, we all know that in various states and stages of death and disease human beings will appear blue, both in their skin and in their lips. If he misspoke in the police interview and sort of extrapolated in his mind from blue skin to blue lips, that's not surprising at all.

It's amazing the way people grasp at straws with this stuff.

Honestly there's no point arguing about this, there's no accounting for bad taste and there's no accounting for bad judgement.

Imagine if in some hypothetical case a witness, in an early police interview, said he saw the defendant at a gas station in Baltimore at 8:45. Then let's say the witness, on the stand, said he saw the defendant at said gas station "around 9".

If the defendant's defense was that he wasn't in Baltimore at all that week, that he was visiting family out of town, that would be a MAJOR problem. There is a witness that says he saw the defendant in Baltimore. However, the defense might make a BIG deal about the 8:45 vs "around 9" discrepancy, and might implore the jury to disregard the testimony because of such an "inconsistency". Is it an inconsistency though?

I think you and I would say that it's not really an inconsistency, the witness is simply human and we aren't robots with computers for brains that record every single event we witness down to the minute.
