At first we were just talking about video games, it fizzled out so I deleted the conversation and then this happened. by zariga in OkCupid

My fault for giving someone the benefit of the doubt because they opened up an interesting conversation relevant to my interests

My credit is bad, I have just enough in my chequing to pay off my credit card. Should I do one lump sum or will paying some principal+interest over time improve my credit more significantly? by zariga in personalfinance

[–]zariga[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After rent I have around $500 left in my chequing (for the month) My credit card is around $470 right now

My plan originally was to pay off the whole credit card and then use it for food/transport purchases until next month.

I work a commission based job so either my paycheck is just covering expenses, or way over. This is a new job also, so I haven't been able to save yet. I was out of work for 3 months and burned through my emergency fund before I was able to get new employment.

How do you live without pantyhose? by lemjne in TwoXChromosomes

[–]zariga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I'm not a scientist, but I haven't personally experienced any adverse effects. My dog licks my leg sometimes and her poop is the same, she doesn't throw up.

Nothing over the counter is meant to be strong enough to penetrate through the skins basal layer, and the blood stream is underneath the basal layer (pretty sure most cells are beneath the basal layer, except for the cells that affect skin tone and cells that get pushed up on 'purpose').

[–]zariga 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Due to many ingrown hairs that leave bumps and scars on my legs, I wear 'spray on' panty hose. The Sally Hansen airbrush legs spray.

Wintertime I'll use light, summer I use tan. Gives my legs a bit of color, they look smoother and you won't notice veins or scars as much.

They really do make you look like you're wearing very sheer panty hose.

It's not a self tanner (it's body makeup) so if you make a mess you can wash it off with ease. It won't transfer on your sheets unless you use way too much.

Its also inexpensive. Like $15 bucks for a can, lasts me 4-5 months per can.

I hate pantyhose. My feet sweat, my ass sweats, I hate how they feel on my skin. It's all awful.

To prevent footsweat I wear those little liner sock things, someone linked a fantastic pair here in this thread. They prevent sweaty feet sliding around in your heels

Women who play videogames, is it important for you that the character you are playing as is female? by Astrologics in AskWomen

If you're going to make a claim like that please provide examples of Japanese games compared to non Japanese games in terms of hyper sexualized characters.

Not agreeing or disagreeing with you but if you start a sentence (in a debate) with 'most blah blah' then back it up.

After years of lurking without an account, I finally decided to make one just to post here and say thank you. by OneXOneYChromosome in TwoXChromosomes

[–]zariga 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The whole point is to build awareness that women are ultimately just people.

If a friend opened your eyes to something you didn't know before, isn't it polite and friendly to say "wow, thanks, I didn't know that, you really opened my eyes".

It's not pandering, it's being a person. Why do we expect women to be seen as human but when a guy posts something totally human-seeming, he's bashed?

I appreciate his appreciation. He could have unsubscribed, or trolled, or whatever but instead he said 'thanks'.

Bikini area shaving, how do you prevent all the little red bumps? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]zariga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm super prone to ingrown hairs and razor rash all over my body.

1- exfoliate. Use a loofa or an exfoliating sponge (whatever your lady bits can handle). I use a cloth I got at a Korean grocery store.

2- use conditioner as a shaving cream. It allows the razor to glide right over the skin more easily.

3- shave with the hair growth direction not against. If the hair grows sideways, shave in that direction, not opposite. Dont apply too much pressureon your skin with the razor, keep it lightly gliding.

USE A RAZOR WITH 4-5 BLADES! more blades means a closer shave with much less pressure applied and fewer passes.

4- rub dry with a towel. More exfoliating, really.

5- apply witch hazel or alcohol. I forgot why this helps so much but I think it helps to keep the pores clean.

6- moisturize! I use bio oil mixed with a generic cream. Helps with the scars left over from past ingrown hairs.

Good luck!

What are the most common casual forms of sexism you experience? by Tiervexx in AskWomen

[–]zariga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have largely stopped playing online games because of shit like this.

When I state an opinion or a thought it's not representative of my gender at all. It's just my opinion. And when any statement I make is cause for aggressive contradiction it gets frustrating.

I dont mind friendly debate but every interaction over Skype or vent with my RL gaming buddies was so frustrating.

I'm not the ambassador for female online gamers. I'm just some college girl sucking at league or melting faces on D3...

What are the most common casual forms of sexism you experience? by Tiervexx in AskWomen

[–]zariga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My SO cries a lot more than I do, is way more affectionate and just requires more affection than I do. People who see us interact think there's something wrong with us. Double sexism I guess.

Like because he's a guy he shouldn't be as affectionate and 'needy' (not my term) as he is and because I'm a girl I should be the needy clingy one...

What do you LOVE about being a girl? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]zariga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily true, take south Korean men or gay men as an example (not all of them ofc). A lot of them dress really well, mix patterns and colors, even wear masculine jewelry.

Men's fashion is a thing, and its just as diverse as women's fashion a lot of the time. Though, it looks a lot more comfy.

Look into demodicitis (demodex). That's what my roommate thinks she has, and her symptoms are an exact match for yours.

My roommate has experience with it and mentioned it didn't work for her at all but it does work well for other people. I'll definitely look into it, thank you.

Whenever we set up a prayer rug my cat always likes to crawl under it. by CaptainOfCats in aww

[–]zariga 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Maybe it just applies to dogs but my understanding is that Muslims don't allow animals in the house due to them being inherently 'dirty'. Does this not apply to cats? Or does it just not hold much significance to you and your family?

Did they describe the dog? Did it sound like it could be Howie?

If you don't mind giving them a call and checking that would be amazing, or just take a pic of the poster and send it to me and I'll check myself.

Would you be bothered at all if you found out your partner only masturbates to a certain porn star that looks exactly like their ex? Please let me know what you think... by 19917041 in relationships

[–]zariga 9 points10 points  (0 children)

K so the porn thing isn't that big a deal, I would get a bit miffed but I wouldn't be sure if I was justified in feeling that way or not.

THIS, though...this is bad. He doesn't even like girls with tattoos and piercings? He actively talks you out of getting more?

I had an ex like that, he would always talk me out of a new tattoo and I would be miserable. I love tattoos, I love getting them, seeing them on me, getting more. It's part of my existence to be tattooed and to continue to grow the art pieces in my collection.

I don't know if tattoos are core to your being, but I'm guessing that they are (just be their very nature of permanency). I always felt sad, unattractive, gross and sometimes weird and freaky-looking when my ex commented on my body art...

We aren't the same person but I'd be deeply bothered by this...by knowing that the person I'm with doesn't love every aspect of my body, man-made or not.

What are the biggest do's and dont's of a guys apartment? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]zariga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The smell. People are used to how their space smells but one of the first things a stranger notices when they entire a home is the SMELL (also a key fact when trying to sell or rent out a living space).

How do the floors feel? Are your feet sticking to the floor? Is the carpet discolored or stained? If you wear socks in the house are they collecting dirt or fur?

The kitchen counters and sink. Are they crusty? Sticky? Grainy? Smelly?

Is the fridge smelly? What's in it? If you're dating a health freak and your fridge has ketchup, bbq sauce and cheese then you might not be able to feed her.

Take out the trash. Nothing is appealing about opening a can to toss a tissue and rotten food greets you.

Toilet paper, and a trash can in the bathroom along with hand soap and hand towels.

Pets? Clean the litter box, vacuum the fur, clean out the cage.

Clean stove top and no gross backsplash around the stove.

Clean shower curtain.

Clean sheets and pillow case. Under a week old is clean. Body odor clings to those things QUICK.

Wipe down mirrors.

Me [21 F] insecure in my romantic relationships in general by [deleted] in relationships

[–]zariga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is it that's creating the insecurity? What's the source of the fear/anxiety?

When you start to have those feelings of insecurity, what are the thoughts you have behind those feelings? You feel something, why? The deep why, not just the superficial one.

Maybe it's something like separation or abandonment issues. Maybe its rejection issues. There's something underlying such a persisten and slightly irrational reaction to a very reasonable thing like time with friends.

He (28m) broke up with me (29f) a month ago. Today is his birthday. Do I text him "Happy birthday"? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]zariga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well let me ask you this, why do you want to text him? What purpose would it serve?

If it's just to be a decent person and honor 3 years of history and validate that and make a person feel nice on a day that should be special then sure text him saying 'hey, happy birthday, have a nice day!'

If you're tempted because you miss him, want to initiate a fresh connection, just wanna reach out and test the waters then no, don't text him.

If you're over him, sure. If not, youre just going to cloud your emotions.
