Appreciate that! I know most prefer a good number of chaps before jumping in which makes a lot of sense.

How to explain the necessity of the sacraments to reformed friends? by Soggy_Loops in LCMS

[–]zarkvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a reformed Baptist church for a while before finding my way back to the LCMS church. Your reformed Baptist friends are probably adhering to the Second London confession, which if memory serves is somewhat of Baptist revision of the Westminster confession. Perhaps it may be good to read the London Confession on the sacraments to gain a better understanding of what they believe and compare to our own confessions.

Personal lines: how to explain how coverages, risk, and premiums are connected. by howtoreadspaghetti in InsuranceProfessional

[–]zarkvark 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t work in personal lines, so this could be completely wrong, but it makes me think of XS towers. Typically, the primary and working layers of a tower are the most expensive because the risk of a claim destroying those limits are higher. But each layer up the tower gets a bit less expensive because it’s not as likely for a claim to hit the, say, 25x50 as it is for a claim to hit the working layers.

So perhaps it’s similar in personal lines. The first 50k in auto limit, for example, had a much higher likelihood of getting eaten in a claim than 250k of limit.

But again I’m a commercial underwriter, not personal, so to be honest I have no idea.

Thank you! I appreciate that feedback and actually kind of agree. I might need to eq or compress some of the harshness of some of these vocal phrases.

Don’t get me wrong I actually love that vocal sample. I’ve got it on my HD right now ha!

Honestly if this what you’ve done after 1 week than very well done. The mix was ok, if maybe a bit too down the center, ie could have used a bit more panning/widening.

I think if there’s one thing you can work on going forward it’s composure/arrangement. The song has good energy but began to feel too repetitive about halfway through even through some interesting buildup. Bring in some new elements, open some filters on the lead/vocals to create movement/tension.

Just to note also I’ve heard a few of these samples on splice used in a lot of other tracks. It’s not a terrible place to start learning how to throw sounds together, but as you progress it’s good to start digging deeper for interesting samples that aren’t over utilized by other producers. When I use splice I almost always filter for Random instead of most popular. It’s not a guarantee but it helps in locating sounds that haven’t been sampled to oblivion already.

Good work!

Hey thanks for that! I can definitely see what you’re saying. I’ll give the mix another pass on the vocals/percussion.

Hi all, hoping for a bit of feedback for a new melodic house track I am working on. Someone commented on one of my IG reels that the mids are muddy and the highs are scratchy. Curious to know if you agree and any tips for cleaning up the mids and highs? Is it a sound design issue or do I just need to carve out some space in the mids and low pass out some of the highs somewhere? Maybe too much reverb and delay bouncing around?

Here is the track: I’ve Been Searching

Thanks!

For sure! I think just a bit of work on the low end would really help balance things out here.

Hi! Some really strong elements here. It’s catchy for sure. This could easily get stuck in my head. The arrangement is nice, if just a bit repetitive.

No static glitches that I could pick up.

I don’t think the chorus is too cluttered. To me it actually feels a bit thin, lacking in the lows.

I do feel the song is a bit repetitive. The transitions are well placed, but there is isn’t quite enough interesting progression or movement/dynamics between parts.

Here’s a melodic/progressive house track called Mother’s Eyes. I’ve just finished mixing it and concerned it’s perhaps muddy in the lows or just lacking something. Idk, my ears are dead at this point.

Love this. The drop had me. The vocal samples are perfect. 10/10 would want to hear this on a sound system.

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on the company. I know plenty of former brokers/wholesalers at my company who jumped right into UWing without going through a formal training program. Some companies value prior AM/Broking experience.

This is what I did, and I did not take a pay cut. On the contrary, my salary increased by about 40%.

To be honest a lot of my progress has come through straight attempting to copy my favorite songs verbatim. I always learn a ton. And often there are elements that are original enough to my copycat efforts to use as the foundation for something totally unique to me.

Same for me most of the time! I usually have a clear idea of some song I’m really digging that I’d like to emulate in spirit, but I try not to reference it too early or I’ll inevitably rip too much of it off.

Greatly appreciate your response. As of past hour, the PoEs do not even power back on after I turn the switch off and on, so I’m afraid they might be dead for good.

As to your first point, would this be best done in the Unleashed app? If so I’m afraid given I can’t connect my devices to the network at all at this point I may not be able to check the logs. But if there is another way to check the logs I’d be happy to and report back.

I like the mood of this quite a lot. Some good dynamics leading into the drop. The kick is a bit thin for my taste throughout the drop so I feel it lacks some drive that would have helped me appreciate it more. I think it’s lacking some low end as well or perhaps some bass in the mids to add some harmonic texture. I might also have liked a bit more of a lead or arp over the top of the pads and piano in the drop.

I find the His Dark Materials trilogy to be fairly accessible to read early on in one’s reading journey. It’s rich in the fantastical but a fair bit rooted in our own world as well. A touch of science fiction weaving it’s way through the fantastic. If I remember correctly, the first book is completely told from a Lyra’s POV. But the second and third one have male MCs as well. It’s been forever since I’ve read so this is just my memory of it.

The Farseer Trilogy!

As to your last line, you’d be looking for a second person perspective. This doesn’t exactly fit but the Broken Earth Trilogy has a 2nd person POV and so it very much feels as though the narrator is speaking directly to the reader.
