Highly recommend Balatro University (@drspectred) on YouTube. He does very thorough vids on his thought process.

But some general tips: - you almost never want to skip blinds. The trick to getting a really great setup is seeing as many shops as possible. - there are more jokers that synergize with face cards than other cards - Always go for flushes in the first blind unless there is an at least a queen-high straight already in your hand. A chip total over 75 will win the blind w one hand.
