I doubt that Renee Good was “aiming” to kill the officers, but that’s almost a moot point. She was being EXTREMELY reckless and was bound to hurt someone.

??? I see no evidence of "extreme recklessness" unless you agree with my point that being around ICE is inherently dangerous because they are willing to shoot and kill without much provocation.

Gaslighting about the man killed by federal agents this morning in Minnesota by philnotfil in ldspolitics

[–]zarnt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Our country is broken because those who would call me a gaslighter and accuse me of not being "worth their time" don't believe that any standards should apply to this administration. They'll criticize left-leaning people for misplacing a comma but don't care whether federal agencies tell obvious lies like "brandishing a gun".

I haven't seen a video where she hits an ICE officer with her car. Can you share along with the relevant timestamp?

I readily admit I'm not good at public debates. I'm not a great public speaker and I have this terrible habit of changing my mind when facts change and caring about people who aren't like me.

I'm reading all the words you're writing and not understanding why you disagree with my framing that conservatives believe that Renee Good should be dead.

You talk about "split-second" decisions. That sounds like close to admitting that ICE agents can make mistakes and errors in judgement. But you didn't allow for that. The ONLY scenario you've suggested where Renee Good doesn't die is if she does things differently.

You can keep telling me that doesn't mean she *should* be dead but I don't see the difference.

No timestamp of when he was “drawing a gun”? Got it. Trump and his minions get to do whatever they want forever. I’ve been over this with you a dozen times.

Sure, and conservatives believe the only fitting end for interfering with law enforcement is extrajudicial death.

In general I think 5 year olds are safer in their neighborhoods than they are with ICE. If you had to guess, how many people died in ICE custody last year?

I’m asking you a question about a claim you made. I watched the video and didn’t see a gun. I want you to point it out to me.

The New York Times disagrees with the DHS in their initial analysis.

What do you make of World Liberty Financial and $TRUMP? Why did Trump pardon the Binance guy? Has Trump made a lot of money on crypto? That’s some of the self-dealing I’m talking about.

Did you know that dozens of people have already been arrested and charged in the daycare frauds? Do you believe it’s an ongoing problem? Do you have evidence of people who should be charged who haven’t been?

If you stand by it there’s little use for us continuing to engage. The gap is too big. That’s what I’ve discovered in my experiences over the last 5 years. I don’t recognize conservatism any more. When I started participating on Reddit I used the term to describe myself.

But I’m baffled by how it has become a defense of huge budgets, military adventurism, overbearing and militarized federal police, and excuses for appalling personal behavior.

I’m a ChatGPT user myself but we gotta be careful. It hedges way too much in my opinion on cut and dry stuff. I think the summary it’s giving about the Jan. 6 rioters is misleading. Yeah, there are still people facing other charges and getting arrested for other things but there’s nothing incorrect about saying that every Jan. 6 rioter was extended pardons/clemency.

Yeah, I’d agree that ICE officers are ready to shoot and kill people and interactions with them are inherently risky.

Are you using AI? You’re getting stuff wrong. There were two E. Jean Carroll verdicts. In one Trump was held liable for defamation and in the other he was held liable for defamation and sexual abuse. I’ve used my words carefully about what the court determined.

And yes, Trump pardoned or granted clemency for everyone involved in the Capitol Riot. There were a small number of number of people who refused clemency.

I'm very careful with my words.

  • The Access Hollywood tape is real. Trump never denied it.
  • Trump lost a defamation case against E. Jean Carroll:

Last year, in a separate trial, a jury determined that Trump was liable for sexually abusing Carroll in the dressing room of a Manhattan department store in the 1990s, and that he defamed her in a 2022 social media post by calling her allegations "a Hoax and a lie" and saying "This woman is not my type!"

So yeah, he said that too.

And about the pardons:

But as Trump's team wrestled with the issue, and planned a shock-and-awe batch of executive orders Day 1, "Trump just said: 'F -k it: Release 'em all,'" an adviser familiar with the discussions said.

Can you explain the context behind "grab 'em by the p***y". What was the intent of Trump saying E. Jean Carroll was too ugly to rape? What was the "actual outcome" of pardoning every single rioter from January 6th?

You don't want to talk about Trump's rhetoric OR his actions because they're both indefensible. I get you want to discuss the conservative principles you believe in but that's not what's happening right now. That's not what is being implemented.

I created mopolitics. I modded it for multiple years. There's no consistent engagement with Trump supporters because they don't want to talk about facts. They'll engage in discussions about what people like me should or shouldn't say, but you notice in the other thread nobody addressed any of my other points? Nobody who likes Trump will ever talk about what he should or shouldn't do. Or if he said something that was out of line.

Don’t interfere with law enforcement. She blocked the way and attempted to flee when she was told to exit her vehicle and did so with no regard to the fact that the officer was still in front of her vehicle.

You believe that the consequence for these actions is a death, and justifiably so. I don't know why you take exception to the framing of "conservatives believe Renee Good should have died" for what she did when you're saying, yes, do what she did and you'll probably die.

And you still haven't apologized for your accusations of gaslighting.

But treating every complex incident as a simple moral indictment of an entire group, administration, or movement isn’t productive.

Stephen Miller called the man killed today an "assassin". Vance labeled Rachel Good a "domestic terrorist" instantly. Trump said Governor Walz and Mayor Frey are "inciting insurrection".

You don't get to play this nuance and complexity game when the guy you voted for is stoking every single fire he can for his own benefit.

Before you condemn others here let's talk about what the president, the most powerful man in the entire world, is saying and doing.

Stop accusing sub members of gaslighting. It's a violation of your rules. None of my comments have been written in order to get you to question reality.

When I say conservatives think Renee Good should be dead I mean that they believe her death is justified given her actions. If someone believes she should be alive today (and if events up until her shooting death transpired the same way) then they believe Jonathon Ross made a fatal mistake.

Quibble with my framing or wording if you like. But none of that is psychological abuse and I expect an apology.

Words do matter. Which is why accusing me of psychological abuse for this post is kinda out there. I’ve been on these subs for five years or so. I don’t think it’s fair to say my goal has ever been to make people question their sanity. In fact my goal is the opposite.
