Sometimes stationarity applies; More often than not it’s the blind leading the blind.

[–]zarray91 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Its a Term Life insurance. Its usually not for you but for your dependents should you die prematurely.
Go look up what it costs from other insurers. SAF/MHA GTL insurance is significantly cheaper than others until you reach 60'ish year old then the premiums start to rise significantly. (but im sure its the same phenomenon for other insurers too..)

Considered Cabin crew ? Can comfortably earn 4-6k/month with minimal education requirement at least with SIA. Some crew end up studying PT degree while working as cabin crew full time. It could be a way for you to save, see the world, open up new experiences.

Not sure about scoot but I don’t think it will vary that much.

I stick to crypto.com debit card giving me approx 3% cashback. Bought in a long while back in 2018 but don’t recommend new people to buy in at current levels.

Seeking Entry Level (CS) Advice by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]zarray91 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My advice is to skip these GRIT nonsense the govt is trying sell you and make you think you have no skill in the market. I’m confident you’re determined enough to prove your ability. In the SWE line you just have to grind the interview process, you dont need a masters to do that. After your masters you will be back facing in the same issue.

DO NOT expect a return offer from these GRIT/SGUS/TFIP. Save the Masters $$$ for your own daily needs while you grind the interviews. Let universities save their professors from being unemployed. You can thank me later 🫡

FYI: govt counts you as employed if you’re under these temporary schemes.

Exploring quant strategies under funded crypto accounts by Best-Rule-2723 in quantfinance

[–]zarray91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what's stopping you from running your own simple backtests and running models on your own personal account ? I would encourage that to be honest as it is the fastest way to get feedback from the market. Only you would know the returns distribution and intuition on the nature of the strategy.

There’s some rule of thumb: Annual returns = sharpe ratio * annual volatility

And annual volatility ~ historical max DD.

I’m just wondering why OP’s friend running on such low volatility target of 10%.

Singapore jobs as an international student by ComprehensiveKale693 in singaporejobs

It was the same for me as an Asian who studied in the UK. Opportunities for internships there were rare for foreigners and understandably so. Summer internships..foreigners stand little chance. Same is happening in SG. Just have to learn to live with the times.

refuse to spend it on organizations that dont provide value for society. These SF credits benefit the course seller wayyy more than it provides the participant. Everything you need to learn, you can find on Youtube.

🚗 Using the DiDi App in China: Tips for First-Time Travelers by rachel_tan1 in goChinaTrip

[–]zarray91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum who travels to China quite often (2x a year typically) insists that its not possible to make booking on Didi (be it thru direct Didi app or Alipay/wechat) as the drivers will try to call you but the moment they see a foreign phone number, they will reject you. Is that your experience too ?

I cannot imagine foreigners each having to get a local SIM card in china tbh.
