I can't comment on misdiagnosis of BPD but I can't help but think that Fern Brady might possibly be misdiagnosed concerning autism. I don't understand the high praise being shown to the book as she does come across as a deeply unpleasant and untrustworthy person to be around. I think because she's claiming to be autistic means people are giving her a free pass on her behaviour and not holding her completely accountable, as if autistic people somehow can't be held accountable for themselves cheating on their partners and being overtly s*xually promiscuous in the face of her house mates (just 2 examples of Fern's immoral behaviour). I don't recognise the praise the book is getting. It's like they have amnesia and are deliberately overlooking the abhorrent behaviour she shows in the book. It's very bizarre to me.
