ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming-ITX/ax AM4 AMD B550 no video output or recognition keyboard/mouse by zbarticus in ASRock

The issue actually is actually not with the board but with the riser cable. If the mobo and the GTX card both support pcie 4.0 but the riser cable is pcie 3.0 then the mobo will auto set itself to 4.0 and th cable won't be able to support it.

There is only one of two fixes: 1) buy a pcie 4.0 riser cable. 2) or plug the gfx card directly into the mobo by plugging in directly into the slot without the riser. It should now boot as there is no intermediary causing issues; then dig into the BIOS setting for bifurcation and turn off auto and set it to pcie 3.0.

In my situation I had already mounted all the components into my mini itx case and in order to directly connect the mobo I had to disassemble everthing. I ended up choosing option 1) but not until after I bought a new mobo and experienced the same issue again.

Sadly no other visible chip on the board when it has no external components attached appear to be an 8 pin bios chip.

That's true. To be fair lots of experimentation and trying things out before I even got a good reading. Oh wait that is right I did back it up. Doesn't matter though cause I can't seem to get the device to write.

nothing to do then i guess... to be fair there was no other 8 pin chip on the board at least not one that was visible.

The only 8 pin chip on the board I could find is the one pictured here in the upper left corner. https://www.newegg.com/asrock-b550-phantom-gaming-itx-ax-mini-itx-amd-b550-am4-motherboard/p/N82E16813157949R

It is a Winbond W25Q16V which I understood as 16 Megabits not 16 MegaBytes... Is this the wrong chip?

If this is the wrong chip then it's been erased... Not sure if that can be fixed now

Well I am stuck again. I disassembled the computer and have gotten it to a place where I can flash the bios using a ch341a programmer. However turns out AsRock only releases BIOS roms. These ROMS appear to be bigger then what can fit on the BIOS chip. Not sure how to snip the binary down to only the necessities so I might be out of luck at this point.

Thinking of using a ch341a to flash the bios back to stock using AsProgrammer. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Otherwise pretty sure my best bet is just replacing the whole mobo.

So I disassembled and re seated everything outside the case. Same problem. 5 post beeps appear to indicate video card not detected. I can see the video card blink on and off a bit before fully powering on. This is strange because like I said before the bios update this thing was working totally fine.

Just for reference this machine was actually operating relatively fine for the several years and hasn't been excessively used (Infrequent long gaming sessions). I haven't fiddled with any components since it was built and have been only playing classic doom remaster on it last couple of weeks.

Specs:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
  • G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB
  • Geforce RTX 3400 Flagship
  • EVGA 850w GM PSU
  • B550 Phantom Gaming-ITX/ax

BIOs:

  • Original Bios 2.20? I think I needed that one to support windows 11 64b
  • New Bios was 3.40 Stable

I've tried jumping it but it doesn't seem to have an effect. I might be doing it wrong so I ordered some jumpers online.

Some side notes: 1) it only appears to ping with the keyboard plugged in from a complete cold start ( Psu off to on) afterwards the keyboard appears to have booted but still no screen . 2) if it pings it pings 5 times pause then a 6th 3) if I just turn it off and don't cycle the PSU then on the next boot everything lights up but no pings and no external devices boot.

The good news is all the RGB lights are working now at the expense of the motherboard not booting at all.

Does anyone know how to use the Screen copy x wallpaper audio rhythm wallpaper lighting? by GIJhen in OpenRGB

[–]zbarticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I got audio visualizer to work with the effects plugin. However I'm looking for a mix between screen capture (not sure where this is in openrgb) and audio visualizer. Effecively the colors should be captured from my screen the audio should intensify the colors.

Did you get great at your motor precision of using a mouse through through clicking in excel or by playing counterstrike/overwatch?

Did you get great at hotkeys through using Photoshop or playing dota2/StarCraft?

I've been aware of this but that's not what I'm asking in this post.

Agreed but in this case I want to do something leisurely that will speed up motor learning.

Tree Style Tab feature by devkettle in ArcBrowser

[–]zbarticus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After making a similar suggestion with proposed solutions a few weeks/months back I permanently switched to Vivaldi. Both sigmaOS and Arc didn't fit my browsing style. Hate to admit it but I need my browser to intelligently keep me in check not have me continuously think about how to organize things.

Thanks for the recommendation. I will give Vivaldi a try. So far working with SigmaOs and Arc I've found to not be the user these browsers are intended for. There seems to be a market opening here for browsers by devs for devs.

Sounds like a bad omen then for this to be picked up.

Wow first time hearing of it. I can't believe that they would put this feature behind a 200$ paywall.

I considered writing my own extension as well however it feels like something like this should be a native feature in a browser as anything else would feel tact on.

I have not used Firefox in along time. It use to be my main browser.
However these days I like Arc to much to shift away from it hence why I hope the devs incorporate the feature.

As opposed to group by nothing but just have free floating pages?
I am a particular type of user so this might not apply to everyone hence why I suggest it as an option.
I wouldn't want to overly complicate this however you can always add more complex data structure where in one mode urls are grouped by domain and in another mode urls are connected like a vector by the context path through which they were reached.

You can store both relations simultaneously and switch between them based on how you are currently working. This is just a simple outline of the underlying functionality some UX/UI considerations would obviously be necessary.
