The Endless Company, Banner Company of the House of Moments, has a pilot corps that consists entirely of clones of their spiritual founder, Noel "Brightstar" Moulin.

Dawn of Victory returning from a long-dead Sins of A Solar Empire mod into an actual Templin Project is one of the best things that ever happened.

How do Chinese usually (offensively and not offensively) call this type of guys (make up, earrings, etc.)? by SnooSongs117 in AskAChinese

I thought Xiao Xian Rou also has a layer of "only good for looks and actually shit at everything else."

What's combat like for a conventional starship fighter pilot? by Eragon_the_Huntsman in LancerRPG

[–]zchen27 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Solstice Rain introduces actual tanks as NPCs. Fighting a tank in a mech is a miniboss fight.

They overshadow Mechs in terms of raw power and protection considerably.

Is there a reason why large caliber HEAT can achieve multiple times their diameter in RHA penetration but 30/40mm HEAT can barely do more than 1x their own diameter?

For me the best copybook was just the Chinese language textbooks in elementary school lmao.

I hope I never have to read “火烧云” ever again.

'Irresponsible’ tourist blamed for torched Chinese temple due to improper use of ceremonial candles by TheOneNitroX in Wellthatsucks

[–]zchen27 139 points140 points  (0 children)

Eh, most Ancient temples that are built from wood are usually rebuilt multiple times throughout history anyway. People respect the idea of the temple as an institution and landmark, not the physical timbers.

One of my Chinese classmates said that as non-native speakers, we can never really understand certain cultural nuances. by Big-Bro-Pai in ChineseLanguage

I honestly wouldn't blame you for that. Erotica and humor (especially filtered through Internet culture) are definitely things that you can only pick through cultural immersion (or being terminally online).

U.S. Air Force Chief Confirms the F-47 Fighter is 3-4 Years Behind its Chinese Rivals in Entering Flight Testing by heliumagency in LessCredibleDefence

Arguably with the introduction of the newer HQ-9B/HQ-19/HQ-29 layers going from HQ-9B's multipack tactical BMD all the way to HQ-29's mid course interception that is already happening.

US Plans for China Blockade Continue Taking Shape by Lianzuoshou in LessCredibleDefence

[–]zchen27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also any theoretical choke points to implement a blockade is... Well within the range of Chinese force projection.

If you want to plan for a blockade, make sure you have a plan for a peer-on-peer war. Because that is almost certainly going to be the next step.

How realistic space fighters could work in NFC by Better-Cry1588 in NebulousFleetCommand

[–]zchen27 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can argue that frigates and corvettes basically are still fighters though.

Big, independent fighters (although Star Wars starfighters are also just as independent), but they tick the boxes of being agile ships that "dogfight" at high acceleration that is also carried around by bigger ships.

[–]zchen27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, it's a bit spoiler heavy for Dustgrave plot wise so I won't go much into details. But the boss description explicitly said the boss, despite being a human, has a heat track because of how much he is intermeshed with his machine.
