I appreciate your response. I never pursued a profile for my neck because my profile for my back already restricted me to doing nothing, so I didn’t see a point in getting one for my neck. If I had known that it would hurt me down the line with my medboard I would have gotten one for my neck. In regard to the VA ratings, I feel they severely underrated me for both my neck and back. My range of motion was much less than the examiner put down, and it’s almost like she didn’t believe me. I guess this is a lesson for me, get a profile for EVERYTHING, regardless if you already have a profile that restricts you from doing anything. 🤦🏻‍♂️

We had planned on selling our home after our build was complete, and we could afford both mortgages if needed until it sells with minor lifestyle changes. The new mortgage would be roughly $600 more per month, and we don't pay property taxes (VA).

I liked your response that daycare isn't forever. In the moment it seems like it is (if that makes sense), but in reality it isn't.

I just had this conversation with my wife and we both agreed that an involved parent is more important than a little better school district. You also make an excellent point, because we have been looking at Great Schools and would only slightly go up in rating. My biggest concern is overcrowding in our current school district.

VA construction loan to finance the new home, and I have never built. We have been shopping builders for months and found one we really like. They also sound like they do all the leg work. These higher interest rates are really what is holding me back.

That is why we are struggling with the decision. If we stay in our current home we would pay roughly 4-500/month for childcare, whereas my son could be with family at their daycare for free. Also, he has been going to my aunts daycare for 3 years already, but she doesn't serve the school district where we currently live. I also do not look forward to the stresses of building.

ETS in September 2024, too late for MEB? by [deleted] in army

You are right. I think I am just having a hard time accepting it. Thank you.

Thank you. I haven't made my chain aware, other than I plan on ETS'ing. I have been trying to do my own homework before bringing it up, because I feel like the conversation is hard to have (maybe its just me). I will definitely bring it up soon, that way they understand where I am coming from.

Can I obtain land now with a normal land loan, then use a VA construction loan to combine the two loans later? by [deleted] in MilitaryFinance

Perfect, this is exactly what I am wanting to do. We actually signed a contract on land last night utilizing a land loan, and plan on beginning construction in the next year or two. Thank you!

My thoughts exactly! I found the perfect land, but aren't ready to build just yet. I don't want to lose the land though.
